"Come with me," Captain Leonard told Anton.
Anton's squad captain led him to where the major assigned to their squad group was located. One major was assigned to one hundred squads.
"This is where Major Mason is staying," Captain Leonard said while pointing at a fairly large tent.
Anton had noticed the tent before, as it was located not far from where he had joined their group's cook to prepare their food. Now he knew that it was basically the center of their group of squads. He briefly wondered what one hundred squad was called. A quick search on the internet using his Diablo II system informed him that a thousand men were called a battalion, and Anton decided to call their group of squads that, unless he was told otherwise.
Captain Leonard told Anton to stay at a distance while his captain moved forward and informed a guard stationed at the entrance of the tent of his request to talk to the major. Since Anton was somewhat far, he had not heard what the major had told Captain Leonard.
Even though their group had a structure, even officers like captains and majors, Anton still felt that their group of squads was still loose and not an actual army. There was a sense of informality about their groups, like adventurers forced together for a common goal, which, if he was being honest, was what they were.
The Major talked to Captain Leonard for a few minutes, then Anton saw them looking at him. After a while, they started walking towards him. Captain Leonard told Anton that Major Mason was a powerful archmage, but his squad captain admitted that the major was not as powerful as Anton was.
"But then again, who was among archmages?" Captain Leonard said, and Anton just smiled.
"I understand your request, Mr. Sunder, and your situation is not unique among the wizards of Ormunda. Your captain told me your requirements, and in return, you're willing to allow him to command your Dire Bear. Am I right?" Major Mason asked, and Anton answered affirmatively.
"Can you summon your minion then so I can have a look? I already informed everyone, so don't hesitate," The major asked.
Anton then summoned his Dire Bear. He saw that both Captain Leonard and Major Mason's eyes grew wide at his huge dire bear.
"Your captain told me that it's extremely powerful and that it wouldn't matter if it dies since you can just summon it again. Can we test it and you're sure that it's alright for it to die?" Major Mason asked.
"If you want to battle with it to test it, it's truly powerful and could cause fatal damage to its enemies," Anton replied to the Major.
"In that case, can I ask several mages to fight with it? You don't need to worry about it injuring the mages. We have powerful healers on standby. At least, they could finally practice their healing spells. Just make sure not to let it instantly kill my men."

Since the major truly wanted to see a battle with the Dire Bear, Anton had no choice but to agree. After several minutes, a temporary arena was erected. The Dire Bear and 10 mages were enclosed in the arena that was encircled by a powerful magic barrier cast by several mages together. Several healers were on standby to make sure that the mages who would fight with the Dire Bear would be saved immediately.
While the mages were preparing, Anton's Dire Bear was just standing there. Even without moving, the Dire Bear looked extremely menacing. It was gigantic, at least compared to the dire bear from the actual Diablo II game. His Dire Bear summon also had skills that the dire bear from the game did not have.
The mages signaled that they were ready, and Captain Mason shouted for the fight to start. Anton's Dire Bear immediately howled, causing the mages to get stunned. Then it ran menacingly toward the group of mages. At least the mages did not group themselves, because if they did, one swipe from the bear and the fight would be over.
The Dire Bear did manage to swipe at a couple of mages, causing the two wizards to get hurled towards the barrier. The moment they hit the barrier, everyone could hear the impact, and Anton winced. He hoped that the two mages did not die immediately.
Anton saw that the mages who constructed the magic barrier did something, and an opening in the barrier occurred. The two injured mages were dragged by several healers away from the arena and were treated immediately, causing Anton to sigh in relief. He looked at the Major, expecting Major Mason to look angry, but Anton saw that the major looked excited instead. Anton just shook his head and continued watching the battle.
At least the remaining eight mages were finally out of their stunned status and started casting spells toward Anton's Dire Bear. When they saw the Dire Bear shrugged off the spells they had cast like bolts of fire, rays of frost, bolts of lightning, and different colored rays. One of the mages finally utilized his spellcasting to change the terrain to delay the Dire Bear, and it worked somehow.
The ground where the Dire Bear was standing turned into mud, causing the bear to move sluggishly. The Dire Bear howled again, and even though they had experienced it before, for some reason, the mages did not think of any solution regarding that sound attack, and all of them got stunned again.
Major Mason cheered when he saw the Dire Bear impossibly jump from the mud pit. Something as huge as Anton's Dire Bear shouldn't have been able to jump since that kind of action really defies the rules of physics, but since this was a world of magic, the Dire Bear utilized its powerful smite attack to jump. It reached another mage, and this time, everyone saw something that Anton thought truly impressed everyone. The Dire Bear held himself from a full-blown attack that could have caused the mage to be smashed into a pulp. Instead, it swiped the mage, and the mage was thrown towards the barrier just like the first couple of wizards.
Anton knew that even if it was somewhat of a mild attack, that attack probably caused several bones to break in that mage's body, but the healers immediately acted and dragged the poor wizard outside, and started healing the man.
The remaining seven mages realized that the enemy was truly powerful, and they started treating the fight seriously, although belatedly. Four of the mages used their spell casting to delay the Dire Bear, and the rest started casting some sort of powerful spells that required several minutes to cast.
The delay was successful, and the powerful spell from the wizards was cast. The Dire Bear was surprisingly agile enough to somewhat avoid the attack, which only caused one of its arms to disintegrate, but that did not mean that the Dire Bear was out of the fight. It ignores its injury and reaches another two mages and swipes them towards the barrier.
The fight lasted a while until only two wizards remained, and that was when they finally killed the Dire Bear. When the two remaining wizards saw that the bear had finally been destroyed, they slumped towards the ground.
Anton immediately resummoned the Dire Bear beside him, and when the two wizards who were fighting with the Dire Bear saw the newly summoned bear, the two fainted.
