Nightmares Paradise [LITRPG System Integration]

Chapter 65 White Lady Of The Winter Castle

[A/N]: Not going to lie, the longest ability description thus far.

Jon took a deep breath, feeling his Seir-Glacial Heart and Murmur-Glacial Marrow pulse in response to the integration of this Fragment Of Summon. His ice natured spiritual energy hummed as the System notification appeared in the corner of his vision.

There was something… different about the integration of this specific fragment. All the previous fragments that Jon had integrated possessed traces of concepts within them, but no spiritual energy. Even the Fragment Of Tree that contained a portion of Ashvattha Rana's essence did not possess such a thing.

In all the fragments that he had given Avahni, none of them produced such a reaction when she integrated any of them. The vast majority of which ended up manifesting abilities with the Summon Trait.

Although Jon could feel his ice natured spiritual energy seep into the Fragment Of Summon he had just integrated, accepting it as his own, there existed the faintest, most minute speck of something… not quite ice natured spiritual energy within.

It did not yet quite belong to Jon. As if he had yet to gain one last final tick of approval from the being whose essence was contained within.

He could feel the focus of numerous gazes on his form, in addition to Ashvattha Rana, who seemed quite interested in the effect description of his newest ability.

Just glancing towards the Traits of Schwarz Eis, he noticed one that he had never seen before. Turning towards his summon and communicating with her using their mental connection.

"Rana, what manner of ability does the Memento Trait, correlate with?" Jon could not help but ask.

He quite distinctly heard Rana gasping, causing him to raise an eyebrow in confusion. The eighteen-year-old human glanced towards Ru Luan Di, watching as the little ginseng answered in lieu of the bodhi tree.

"Ashvattha Rana and I are incapable of answering such a question Jon. You will have to summon your newest ability to obtain the answers you seek. Although it is considered forbidden knowledge, given that it is your ability, the System should not prevent you from obtaining Mortal Title Fragments in the future," said Ru Luan Di, causing Jon to furrow his brows.

"How did you know what I was going to ask?" Jon queried.

Ru Luan Di shrugged his shoulders, simultaneously communicating with his summoner about the strange flow of spiritual energy within Jon.

"I once had the opportunity to reach a similar level of strength as the Spirit you have just manifested. It is unfortunate that Avahni did not obtain that specific Fragment Of Ginseng, as instead the one that contained the Liver Of The Ginseng King," the little ginseng admitted.

Jon pursed his lips, raising an eyebrow at the connotation behind that response.

Ru Luan Di had placed his various Titles within certain Fragments Of Ginseng? That was how Avahni had manifested the little ginseng king. Jon originally thought that it was the chaotic nature of fragments that manifested certain abilities over others. Partially influenced through some special uniqueness that was more pronounced in certain individuals over others.

Just as how Avahni could manifest more summoning abilities than he or Wilheim could.

Looking around, Jon decided to speak in Common to obtain the advice from all the other summons present. Although he had just met Titus Claudius and Metzli just a couple hours ago, the former seemed quite pleasant, albeit somewhat stoic and reserved.

The Shade-Seeking Shield Moss did not remove itself from Avahni's shadow, although felt its presence whenever his Hades-Sagacity Shadow and Avahni's mortal shadow crossed over one another. The lutin had told him that Metzli quite liked his shadow, saying something along the lines of "it is darker than my own".

"Should I not summon Schwarz Eis then?" the human asked.

""No!"" all four summons verbally responded, causing the other four humanoids to lift their heads, staring at the other sapient creatures all around them. Sariel and Shamael had just gotten used to the fact that other intelligent Races existed throughout their universe, let alone that these creatures around them were all older, wiser and more intelligent than themselves.

Hearing them all respond to Jon in the same language, caused Wilheim to peer at the young human with a more appreciative glint in his eyes.

"Jon, whatever the personality or appearance of this Schwarz Eis is, you should never not summon it. This is both a personal preference of all summoned existences, but also my own recommendation. This is an opportunity Jon, to understand something that… can potentially allow a Mortal to slay a Knight," Ashvattha Rana's words were calculated, knowing that Jon would understand the intent behind them.

Jon could not help but perk up at the words the bodhi tree had mentioned, the latter earning a small glare from Titus Claudius and Ru Luan Di. Referring to a Memento Source Fragment as a mere weapon was an enormous understatement, although the little ginseng had been informed of the human's encounter with the powerful Knight Ranked creature.

The same one that had been following a certain pair of blue-skinned and green-skinned satanas.

Glancing towards one of his two remaining task rewards, Jon could not help but let out a sigh, before selecting the Fragment Of Summon as one of them. Despite the rational part of his brain screaming at him to stop, the turbulent waters of his Sea Of Knowledge overwhelmed any sense of logical thought that the human was capable of.

Ashvattha Rana, knew that fear was a dangerous motivator but also knew that fear that was one of the greatest driving forces in mental, physical, and spiritual development.

If Jon was afraid he would run faster.

If Jon was afraid he would fight harder.

If Jon was afraid he would absorb spiritual energy for longer.

It was an obvious manipulation. Although not one that Jon felt he could disagree with.

All four of his fellow participants in the System Introduction stared at the crystal teardrop shaped fragment that Jon had manifested in his hand. The fact that he was able to do so meant that he had completed a task and allowed the task reward to sit idly instead of using it and immediately integrating his fragment of choice.

Avahni seemed surprised but envious or jealous that Jon would be able to summon his newest ability mere moments after obtaining it.

Wilheim seemed quite interested in the fact that Jon had saved up another fragment of his choice. He wondered what optional task Jon had managed to complete to obtain a fragment of his choice as a reward.

Sariel and Shamael glanced towards each other, somewhat understanding why both Wilheim and Avahni both considered Jon in such a high regard. Although neither of them had seen what manner of abilities the human possessed other than his beautiful tree summon, it seemed as though he was quite adept at completing the tasks the System had set.

The two satanas had both completed a couple of optional tasks each, although most of them were related to killing a certain Rank of enemy or surviving outside of a Safe Zone for a certain amount of time. Nothing relating to the collection of fragments or being able to glimpse into Source of oneself.

Sariel in particular seemed quite interested in the fragment that Jon had received from Avahni. Although she was able to restrain the yearnings in her heart, the young satanas seemed to have quite the affinity with Fragments Of Summoning, or the concepts contained with it.

Watching as Jon strolled further down towards the riverbank, Jon glanced towards the enormous form of Ashvattha Rana.

"I know that the other summons will not interfere but continue to observe the area surrounding the camp. This will drain the entirety of my ice natured spiritual energy, and I still have a certain Mana Core in my pocket that I still have yet to integrate," Jon mentally communicated with the Earthen Treasury Womb, his bodhi tree releasing an even greater golden-green glow, granting Jon, and everyone within range of its light with an instance of [Naraka Of Protection].

[Naraka Of Protection]: Increases mana regeneration.

Although the other summons did not react to the buff that Ashvattha Rana had given them, Avahni, Sariel, and Shamael all glanced towards the buff that the bodhi tree had imparted upon them, staring up at its enormous form with a newfound appreciation in their eyes.

Wilheim knew that using his ability, [With Eyes That Pierce Through The White Winter Plain], Jon's summoned bodhi tree was able to grant allies within range a refreshing instance of [Naraka Of Protection] and [Niraya Of Protection]. Although the effect was quite visually pleasing, Wilheim knew that Jon was still perhaps the most impressive of the two.

Holding the Fragment Of Summon in his hand, Jon opened his status page and observed the changes that had occurred over the past several days.

Jon's status was now significantly longer than when he had arrived within the small realm. With the introduction of his Fragment Of Summon into his Ice Mana Core, Jon had now integrated a total of eighteen fragments, meaning that he had reached the maximum number of thirty-six that an individual could integrate.

Although he still had no idea what a Memento Trait could possibly allude to, the effect description of [Schwarz Eis; White Lady Of The Winter Castle], gave him the subtlest of hints into the nature of this weapon that "potentially allow a Mortal to slay a Knight".

[Fragment Of Summon] [Schwarz Eis; White Lady Of The Winter Castle] (Summon, Ice, Spirit, Spell, Defensive, Shield, Memento, Debuff)

Effect (Mortal): Perform a ritual to summon Schwarz Eis; White Lady Of The Winter Castle. Schwarz Eis was born from the lineage of a transcendent winter spirit and an unholy lunar demon. Schwarz Eis dwells within the heart after being summoned.

Upon contact with spiritual shields, inflict an instance of [Frozen Spirit] on a target. Schwarz Eis possesses the Memento Source Fragment [Licht Weiss; Right-Hand Of Winter].

[Frozen Blood]: Inflicts a continuous ice-natured damage over time effect. Manifests minute shards of ice throughout the veins and arteries, shredding blood cells.

[Frozen Spirit]: Reduces mana regeneration.

[Licht Weiss; Right-Hand Of Winter]: Manifested through the combination of an Ice Mana Core, Fragment Of Armour, Memento Source Fragment, complete Mortal Title [White Lady Of The Winter Castle] and a Mortal Ranked spiritual pauldron.
