Deep in the Living

Chapter 743: Final Preparations

Six o'clock in the morning.

Pumpkin Fran had already prepared various kinds of porridge for the day and made all sorts of breakfast ingredients.

He needed to make a trip back to the Screaming Inn, not to retrieve anything, but to deliver something.

In his hands, he pushed a cart with a large bag on it, teetering as it moved. Inside, it was [meat].

They were chunks of meat that had been sliced, or rather, cleaved.

The meat that Luo Di used for practice couldn't be wasted, and the optimal "recycling location" was the inn, just enough to serve as the Landlord's breakfast.

The meat was sent to the garbage station behind the inn.

He pushed aside several seemingly unrelated garbage cans, deep and bottomless, with twisted teeth vaguely embedded deep within the inner wall.

Chunks of meat were poured in.

Frank seemed accustomed to this life, and continued to push the cart back.

"Today's meat doesn't differ much from yesterday's, and I suppose this kind of life will soon come to an end... Really wish Luo Di could stay a while longer, having someone to help chop vegetables is truly great."

...

[Canteen Kitchen]

It took longer than anticipated, and Luo Di's life on campus had continued for more than half a month.

The main reason for staying and troubling Hunter was that the issue of [cleaving] had not been resolved. Luo Di had shown significant progress in the past few days, but now he had hit a plateau.

He still couldn't recall that decisive strike on Old Master Jiang and couldn't re-enter that state.

Inside the kitchen,

Hunter stood with arms crossed, one hand stroking his beard.

Luo Di was crouched on the ground, leaning against the stove.

Hunter provided a simple commentary, "There's no improvement in your meat cutting today.

Your remarkable progress in the past few days wasn't due to recalling your previous state. Instead, it was because you inherited the legacy of Old Master Jiang, your level or rather your ceiling improved.

Through the past ten days of training, your meat cutting ability reached this ceiling.

However, the stroke used to behead Old Master Jiang that you've forgotten will likely be hard to achieve in such a calm state.

To find that state again, the previous conditions or something similar must be satisfied."

Sitting on the floor, Luo Di fully understood, "Indeed... thank you for all your help during this time, Hunter. I'll go talk to Teacher Guo, sorry for the trouble I've caused recently."

Hunter didn't respond but instead popped a piece of gum into his mouth. Just as Luo Di was about to leave the kitchen, he suddenly said:

"Wait a minute... Fran is already handling all the breakfast in the canteen today, so I've got nothing to do. Come with me to the gymnasium."

"Hm?"

"I'll help you simulate the situation against Old Master Jiang as it was in the past. I won't hold back, treating you as a delicacy, and will proceed with the final feast.

You can refuse, as there is indeed a real possibility of me killing you."

"Thanks, dying here is better than perishing in the dungeon..."

...

≮Due to Head Chef Hunter's temporary engagement, the canteen is closed today≯

After the school broadcast notification, the students could only leave the school one after another with reluctance. For those monsters that have eaten at the canteen, they develop a strong dependency, making it difficult to find alternatives outside.

Mr. Question Mark just so happened to have matters to discuss with Teacher Guo today. Beyond school matters, there was the issue about "God" they had previously discussed privately.

He unexpectedly found out that Teacher Guo was rarely absent from the office; usually, no matter when you visited, you could always find Teacher Guo diligently working at his desk.

His finger drew a "?" on the desktop.

Posing a question,

Receiving an answer.

Mr. Question Mark promptly turned to leave, only to find that the office door seemed to have changed.

Outside the door no longer corresponded to the school's hallway, but to a hidden compartment within the gymnasium.

Teacher Guo was standing there.

Through the one-way glass in front of him, he could observe the details of the enclosed combat area.

A dark vortex was constantly held in his hand, and he had been waiting there since the morning, poised to intervene at the moment of crisis, this waiting lasting until now.

Mr. Question Mark did not speak immediately but rather silently observed the situation inside the venue before making any assessments.

"There are many young people in this school with impressive rates of growth, but in terms of potential, perhaps only Teacher Guo and that natural-born monster can compare with Luo Di.

Why let him take such risks?

He was merely lightly marked; as long as I watched over him and he didn't approach the dungeon, no major issues would arise.

Now he's deeply marked, necessitating a trip to the dungeon to resolve the matter himself."

Teacher Guo responded calmly, "Vortex Town is a community; whoever holds a torch that can illuminate unknown paths should walk at the front.

The purpose of the organization is not to cultivate someone who can fully inherit the Corner's essence but to lead the entire organization, as many as possible, to the end of the Corner."

If he dies, it is unavoidable.

But if he can truly survive, the significance will be immense.

Besides... his purpose for going to the deepest parts of the dungeon is not to become a god, he hasn't reached that level. He just went to fetch something, and once he gets it he can return. The difficulty is relatively low.

If he can take this opportunity to bring back more intelligence, it will be beneficial for the organization to further delve into the corners."

Just as Mr. Question Mark was about to speak further, anomalies erupted in the scene.

"Teacher Guo!"

Mr. Question Mark quickly reminded, while Teacher Guo's teleportation had already completed, bringing Luo Di back.

Half of his body had been entirely bitten off, dense teeth marks were left on the surface of the wound.

Teacher Guo seemed to have anticipated this, and had drawn a reverse Vortex Formation on the ground, immediately performing a time reversal on him, returning to when the sparring started this morning.

Mr. Question Mark's attention, however, remained focused inside the venue,

watching Hunter preparing to dine at the table, and the skulls covering the entire venue.

"It seems I miscalculated earlier, the potential of this head chef is also not low... In terms of destructiveness alone, he seems not inferior to the teachers' group now."

Inside the venue,

Hunter seemed to be in a killing frenzy, sniffing the scent, quickly locking onto the hidden compartment, pinpointing the exact location of prey Luo Di.

As a monster, his gluttonous desire absolutely did not allow the escape of food.

Just as the slaughter was about to begin, Mr. Question Mark had also prepared a countermeasure.

The next second.

Hunter's entire jaw dropped, with a smooth cut. This injury instantly made him regain his senses, restraining his desires.

He looked in astonishment at the fallen jaw, seemingly unclear on how it was cut off, and then displayed a gratified smile, indicating that the half-month training had finally paid off.

...

Evening.

Wu Wen, as usual, ran to the cafeteria to give Luo Di private tutoring.

In reality, there wasn't much left that needed tutoring recently, she simply wanted to visit this precarious man.

Only tonight, the waiting time seemed a bit long, as Luo Di seemed to be sleeping all the time.

Looking at the time, it was past nine o'clock.

Wu Wen had no intention of disturbing, planning to come back tomorrow night. Just as she turned, Luo Di walked out of the cafeteria, still yawning.

He still seemed half-asleep, only barely waking due to his biological clock.

"Late-night practice? Related to Hunter's leave at noon?"

"Ah... yes."

"Then let me test the results of your special training!"

Wu Wen, as usual, stood straight, slightly exposing half her shoulder, awaiting Luo Di's daily strike.

"Alright."

Luo Di walked over nonchalantly, differing completely from his previous state of utter focus when drawing the blade.

Wu Wen couldn't even grasp how the opponent drew the knife, as if the black slaughter knife just appeared in Luo Di's hand.

Suddenly,

the feeling changed.

Even though she was at a higher level, even though everything was flowing towards her, even though the garden was wide open, Wu Wen couldn't sense Luo Di, whom she was most familiar with.

It seemed everything intentionally bypassed him.

Wu Wen was instantly on high alert, yet hadn't made any defensive move.

The simple, unadorned blade had already swung down.

This scene Wu Wen had seen before, like the night in Luo Di's house watching a movie, when the Murderer slashed down upon the blonde girl.

At the critical moment,

a mass of red material rushed in, instantly shielding Wu Wen.

However.

Clang!

The injury within Luo Di suddenly flared up, causing him to collapse immediately, unable to deliver the strike, snoring as he fell to the ground.

Just when Wu Wen worried that Mr. Question Mark might continue with deadly intent,

the faceless one knelt down, planting a meat seed between the young man's skin, quickly mending the hard-to-heal bite marks with flesh fibers.

He stood up, turning towards Wu Wen.

"He's... not bad, you don't need to go back tonight."
