It didn't take long for Vrusha to complete the short list of instructions I gave him, and now Jrino was in my office.
"City Lord Raizen."
"Jrino."
He gave a small nod, then took a seat in front of me.
"Thank you for taking the time to meet with me."
"Of course. Sorry for taking so long, I've been distracted."
"I understand, things have been hectic. If you don't mind, I'll get to the point. The leaders of the Olirag Clan have all unilaterally agreed that we should return to Clan immediately.
"It was one thing to allow us to tie our hands with an Infernal, but an Infernal Patriarch is a whole different story.
"The Olirag Clan cannot fight a war against one of the premier powers in the Multiverse every millennia or two. And to be frank with you, City Lord Raizen, Infernal Patriarchs and Matriarchs tend to be involved in one such war multiple times.
"Something you have already proven. This is not something we can sustain or be associated with. That is why we have been ordered to return to the Clan.
"We mean no offense, nor do we plan on taking advantage of you."
Jrino then took out a green ring that I assumed to be a spatial device.
"This contains the means to justify our break from the Black Cove City, and likewise our break from you. Hopefully you find it agreeable."
I glanced at the ring, then looked back up at Jrino.
The man who was once my brutal instructor, and then my partner in this City.
He wasn't acting like either of those people.
He was meek and respectful, clearly treating me differently now that he was painfully aware of who and exactly what I am.
This type of treatment is something I guess I should get used to.
…Though Richard still acts the same, which is refreshing in a way.
Anyway, I'm not upset about any of this. In fact, I understand. There's no need to fight wars you didn't sign up for.
But… that doesn't mean anyone who allies with me can just leave when the going gets tough.
For some reason, the thought of that bothers me.
"I understand, Jrino. Then let this be the official break between Infernals and the Olirag Clan.
"From this moment on, we have no partnership and are no longer allies. Please leave the Planet."
Jrino looked at me rather calmly for a moment and then nodded respectfully and silently departed my office.
"Vrusha."
He entered.
This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
"Yes, Patriarch."
"Ensure every single member of the Olirag Clan departs from the Planet before the day is over."
"Understood, Patriarch."
Once more I was alone in my office, and I thought about the interaction with Jrino.
Some might say I was rude and maybe even disrespectful. But I still think my decision to act like that was right. You can't claim to be an ally, then run at the first sign of trouble.
That just doesn't seem like a good way of doing things.
And it certainly isn't my way of doing things. That's not even coming from being an Infernal Patriarch or anything like that. If you and your friends got in trouble as a group, then they leave you to deal with the consequences on your own—then those aren't your friends.
The same thing applies here.
It would have been nice to say goodbye to Greja properly, but that's life.
Moving on.
Let's go get myself a new spear.
Leaving the building in which their City's MT Station was located, I found myself at the foot of a massive mountain.
It was the type of mountain that didn't appear to be covered in any vegetation of significance.
The City had a bit of a rustic, industrial feel to it, and there were quite a few people walking around who stopped to look at the group of people who just walked out of a building dressed in all black.
Eventually, someone came over to us.
"Who's in charge of this… group?"
I suppose we do look a bit out of place in our outfits. Anyway, I stepped forward.
"I am. My name is Raizen. Please direct me to your City Lord."
The person in question looked a bit surprised, then a bit skeptical after that.
"You're this Planetary Lord fella? How do I know you're telling the truth?"
Huh.
Well, I guess they wouldn't really know what I looked like, but it's not like I walk around with ID.
Hm.
Yeah, no time for this.
"Vrusha."
"Yes, Patriarch."
"Lea—"
Just as I was about to order Vrusha to lead the way, a dwarf appeared in front of us out of nowhere.
Something I still couldn't quite sense.
"Welcome over, Patriarch Raizen. Please follow me."
It was the same dwarf whom I met with when their group came to introduce themselves.
Along with her greeting, she gave a slight bow and began walking deeper into the City.
I followed.
From there, we were led through the City and into a building toward the central part of the City that constantly had black smoke billowing out of it.
I suppose this makes sense from a City built by Dwarves.
Before long, I was seen into an office. The dwarf from before, and the person who I assume to be the City Lord, joined me.
The City Lord was a brawny man. About 5'11ish, and a build that gives off the vibe of a blue-collar worker.
He was also in the Peak of Qi Refinement.
"Welcome to my City, Patriarch Raizen. Mr. Richard has told me a lot about you. One of those things is that you are to the point, and that's something I can relate to.
"I officially submit to your rule as Planetary Lord. My City will not be rebelling."
As he stretched his hand forward for a handshake, a notification appeared in front of me.
Ding!
City Lord Chambers of Little Earth has officially submitted to your rule.
Do you accept?
Yes/No?
I accepted and shook the hand of this City Lord Chambers.
"Good. Expect people to come by with instructions and information at a later date."
"Understood, Lord Raizen."
After that, I turned towards the dwarf.
"Are you accepting commissions?"
She grinned.
"Follow me."
I nodded at City Lord Chambers and left the office, and was led down a separate wing of the large building.
By this point, I could feel the heat of the area we were walking towards increasing rapidly.
It seems an entire wing was dedicated to a massive forge.
"Welcome to my Forge. It is not as good as my one back home, but it does the job. Now, you asked if I'm accepting commissions.
"It would be a great honor if you allowed me to forge you a spear, Patriarch Raizen. Just say the word."
Good.
"Then consider this the word. As you can see, I am in need of a new spear. Something that will last me throughout the entirety of the Core Formation Realm. One that I could trust in any battle.
"Is this something you are confident that you can accomplish? That I can trust you with?"
These questions were important. My spear… it is more than just a weapon. It is a partner. It is a companion.
And it is something I needed to be able to trust with certainty.
"I swear my forge on it, Patriarch Raizen! By the Dwargon God, I will forge you a spear that you will never forget!"
The room… no… the buil— no, more than that. The Earth… the entire Planet shook as the dwarf's voice echoed as she made her declaration for all to hear.
…
It seems that was no ordinary declaration.
Interesting.
