A couple of weeks passed as a few different things were now implemented.
Firstly, portals were set up in all 13 System Cities and how it worked once it was set up was actually really interesting.
It was quite literally a giant floating portal that kinda looked like the ocean a bit of the water somehow heavier and thicker, whilst constantly coiling upon itself. You couldn't see through the portal or what was on the other side of it either.
Now it also came with a control panel. I had a master one built into my Planetary Lord Portal Interface, but there was a remote one that appeared with each portal. It was quite literally a small tablet that could pick from a list of approved destinations that the portal will lead to.
The thing was even color coded. If a portal destination was red, then it couldn't be accessed, and if it was orange then it was busy, and green signaled that it was free to be teleported to.
There was also even a feature when different portals could queue up behind another if multiple people from different places all wanted to travel to the same location.
From there we quite literally then built entire buildings around each portal before and set up a portal transportation system like we did with the MT Stations.
Once it was up and running and verified safe, people flocked to it, and it opened up the planet like never before.
Of course, there was a cost involved to use it, and I would collect roughly 30% of all earnings made from each use of the portal, with the other 70% being given back to the Cities.
Next came my little orphan project.
There was some slight pushback from some people as we began going around and collecting orphans. Some of those people truly meant well, and if they could prove that the child in question would be taken care of then the child was left alone.
And there were others who didn't mean well, and that's how kind of accidentally uncovered a few drug and slave rings. Who would have thought that people would have time to figure out new drugs in this world, and then go through all the trouble of doing it illegally?
It's not like we necessarily had laws against drugs, but slaves were a big no.
Anyway those people were dealt with, orphans collected, and words were passed around about the use of anything that could be considered a drug. Do whatever you want as long as it only affects you.
I could care less if people wanted to get high, it's your life. Just don't become a bother. Slaves on the other hand…unacceptable. I'll leave that there.
Moving on, there were also a few people who were just angry to be angry. The type of people that cried about things that had nothing to do with them. They were ignored for the most part, but since people could get stronger…a few of them were brave enough to try and attack my Infernals to 'free' the kidnapped orphans.
Stolen story; please report.
Examples were made and we moved on.
By the time it was all said and done, about 3000 kids were gathered. From toddlers to kids that were roughly 15 or so years old.
They were brought to the district that was being built for them out west near a river.
The district was far from done, but housing was one of the first things that were built and by the end of the first week, everyone had somewhere to sleep. By the end of the second week, everyone had been logged and documented.
Their training would begin in earnest in about a month or so. For now they would simply be fed, sheltered, cared for, and organized properly.
A few hundred Infernals were in charge of the District.
Speaking of Infernals, the boys spent a few days talking with Lidaz and navigating through the thousands of Infernals in the Clan and finally came back to me with a proposed organizational structure.
It was actually quite detailed. Not that I expected anything less.
They suggested I have a total of 8 high level departments. Military, Resource, Logistics, Finance, Crafting, Alchemy, Intelligence, and finally, Operations.
The Military department would then have a group dedicated to being full time warriors. Of course everyone in the Clan would be warrior by trade before all things, but this group would be the ones that were sent out first and their main responsibility would be to fight others.
My first Conflagration will be formed here.
Next will be the Resource department, whose entire focus will be to gather resources needed by the Clan. Whether it was, to kill a certain animal, or to find a plant, or even to go mining. It would all be handled by this department and the different divisions within.
Logistics is pretty much as the name implies. Anything and everything regarding transport and supply will be managed here. It will be their job to ensure the right things reached the right people on time.
Finance was all the pretty straightforward. All things business and money will reside here. Then came Alchemy and Crafting which involve making things. From potions to woodwork.
Intelligence will be about spies and clandestine activities while Operations will be for the management of folks that work for the Clan but aren't in it.
Honestly, in some aspects it won't really be of much use right now, but I can only imagine the need for better management, when the numbers and operations we are involved in reach the millions, in terms of both people and money.
Anyway, I approved it right away.
I would also be leaving it to them to get everyone organized. They key was that none of them would be forced to do anything. Join whatever department you wanted.
Eventually it came time to set up the Council of Earth as I've kind of been calling it recently.
It just has nice ring to it.
But basically, all the City Lords of Earth were brought over to Black Cove City, where they were told to mix and mingle and get to know each other.
That was day 1 of them gathering.
Day 2 I made an appearance and gave a small speech.
"Thank you all for coming. This is now the official start to the Council of Earth. I expect this group to work together in managing their respective cities. There won't be any wars, between cities, or anything of the sort.
"I also won't be bothering you too much as long as you don't do something that requires me to show up. With that being said, you all have already briefed on the do's and don'ts. I strongly advise against doing any the don'ts. There won't be a second warning.
"Now, Earth will soon be integrated into the wider Multiverse, when that happens we should be getting access to the shops of other planets. I am not sure if this will allow the entire planet to access these shops or not but in the case that it does, all I can say is not to invite trouble to our planet.
"Understood?"
All of them gave their nods of acknowledgement.
"Good. Finally the man next to me is Ozal. He will be the Steward of this planet until further notice. Treat his words like mine."
Ozal is one of the few hundred Core Formation Infernals in the Clan, and Lidaz recommended him for the role of temporary steward.
I eventually left the meeting and traveled to Blue Water City. It was time to meet with our local Immortal and see if the knew anything about all the missing people.
