Infernal Apocalypse [ LitRPG , Non-Human Lead, Lots and lots of Fire ]

222. Flamerthrower (Book Three)

So Izanshi wasn't the only Nascent Soul Infernal in the Black Dawn to let off crazy abilities, and it was with the help of all of them and the fighting line created by those in the Core Formation that they were able to push back the ants.

Izanshi gave timely orders for when to push, take a step back, flank, and everything else needed for them to succeed in their task. She had a real grasp of the battlefield, and it was beautiful to watch her work.

Sorry to Richard, but it was an entirely different league of field commanding taking place. It made sense though since Richard didn't have access to senses that someone in the Nascent Soul Realm had back in the Tutorial.

Either way, the Black Dawn had completed their task.

The buildings we were trying to reach were now in sight after we managed to advance down the tunnel.

But just because we pushed them back a bit and managed to walk forward, that didn't mean the ants stopped coming. Far from it, they were even more angry now, and the attacks they levied against us continued to grow in ferocity. Unfortunately for them though, it was my turn.

There was no need for me to move to the front of the group. The Eternal Flame could feel my intentions from here.

"Vorrash."

One word and all throughout the tunnel from where I stood to wherever the ants were coming from, black flames spread like wildfire among a crop of dead trees. No matter how the ants bit and clawed, there was nothing they could do as Eternal Flames took hold of them.

Barely a few minutes passed and all the ants we were worried about died without so much as a peep.

And then it all stopped.

Past the structure we were trying to reach, were two branching tunnels from which the ants were pouring down. I could feel my flames continued to burn things that were still deep in both tunnels before they ever made it out.

Now there were no more ants coming, at least not for now.

"Move to the structure and rescue everyone present. Do it quickly."

While they went off to do that, I wandered over to the branching tunnels. This is where they would come from and when they did, I would like to meet them before they ran into a bunch of evacuating humans.

Well, a bunch was putting it mildly.

The structure wasn't just one building. It was literally like a small city in the wide expanse we were located in. There was no fancy architecture or anything like that, just a whole bunch of neatly organized buildings made out of hardened mud.

I can't be bothered to count the exact number of people I saw coming out of the little mud city, but it was more than a few hundred thousand. A lot more.

And true to the word of our local mermaid Immortal, none of the humans I saw coming out of the mud city looked like they were lacking in calories in any shape or form. Out of the few I spotted, I also couldn't see any crazy injuries of any kind.

Well, I don't know of any farmers that didn't make sure that their cattle were taken care of. If nothing else, I could confidently say that the ants were serious about this whole farming humans thing.

Anyway, I let the clan handle the evacuation for the time being while I focused on the tunnels. They were literally right next to each other, but I could sense that they eventually moved in completely different directions the further down you went in each tunnel.

I wasn't watching by myself of course since Vrusha and the rest of the guard wouldn't leave my side unless I gave them an order to do so. So, we all just stood there, staring at the tunnels before us.

Until…I sensed a small contingent of ants coming down both tunnels. Roughly 50 of them each were coming down the tunnels at about the same time. Once the ants eventually cleared their respective corners and I could see them at the same time that they could now see me, both groups stopped in their tracks and quickly turned around trying to run back.

"Kill them."

Vrusha and the others didn't waste a single second and before the ants could reach too far, they were taken care of.

Those were scouts. I was sure of it. A large number of ants disappeared without any returning, and even as they came down the tunnel, there were no bodies remaining since my flames never left anything behind. Though now that both scouting parties wouldn't be returning, we probably didn't have very long before a real force would come marching down towards us.

"Hurry up!"

"YES PATRIARCH!"

A few thousand voices resounded behind me, and I sensed that they immediately stopped caring about whether the humans were comfortable or not. They were being rushed down the direction we came from with intensity.

The people were obviously panicking now and screaming about this and that, but the members of my clan didn't care. They received an order, and they would see it completed.

Barely 10 minutes later I could once again feel the rumble of the tunnel walls around me, as I'm sure quite a bit of ants were now pouring down each tunnel like water from a raging river. I would hold them here.

At least until my people completed the evacuation.

"Be ready."

That order was for Vrusha and the guard but there was likely no need for it since all of them had their spears at the ready before I even opened my mouth.

A few moments later I could see the giant ants in full. The tunnels before me quickly became nothing but a cacophony of angry ants seething with anger in search of blood. Blood they will not find here.

"Burn."

Flames flooded out from my body in droves down both tunnels and it didn't even take a second before the ants could no longer be seen as everything was painted black. The amount of Infernal Qi present within my flames couldn't be compared to anything I was doing prior to reaching the peak of the Core Formation Realm.

If it was below the Nascent Soul Realm there was nothing I couldn't burn. Nothing. Or at least that is the mentality I had. There might come a day when that might not be true, but today was not that day.

The ants continued to pour down the tunnels in numbers that didn't make sense but just as much as they came, it was just as much flames I poured into both tunnels. There would obviously come a time when I would run out of both Qi and energy and the flames would cease, but that time was a long way off.

They will burn.

And burn some more.

Of course, I could've just as easily used the V word again, but although I was fine and had more than enough reserves, it still took a massive chunk out of the tank just to use it once. The energy it required to use an ability of that magnitude didn't just come from nowhere.

And unlike my flames which I could control to the finest detail, the V word was something that took the required amount every single time without fail.

So, for now, I'll play flamethrower until the evacuation is completed.
