"You look lovely, Emily."
She jerked her head up suddenly at the softly spoken compliment. She couldn't look in the mirror but she looked down at the skirt and blouse that she was now wearing. She had tried on a few clothes she hadn't even really paid attention to what was being put on her anymore. The skirt was a dark grey, and her blouse was a forest green. She found that if nothing else, she liked the color scheme at least.
Her body felt good as she moved and wiggled a bit in the new clothes. They felt really nice against her skin; she had never worn anything so smooth and soft before. She felt herself smile in spite of herself. She did look good, I mean it wasn't what she would choose to wear, but the clothes were nice. Even though it wasn't strictly her, maybe she would hold on to these for a while.
She looked up to see Nova smiling warmly at her. Emily immediately let the smile drop from her own lips and half turn away from the other woman. She wouldn't do anything for that woman. At least not anything that would make it look like she was actually enjoying or going along with what she was doing. She was her own person, not some doll for someone else to dress up.
Nova turned away from Emily and pulled the salesperson aside as she gave the woman Kenneth's credit card. Emily stood there not sure of what to do. She looked down and saw two pairs of shoes, both heels. When had those gotten there? It honestly didn't matter, she never wore, and would never wear, heels.
Nova came back and motioned for Emily to follow her. Emily looked around for a bit, not sure what had happened to her jeans and sweater. She was bare foot and followed Nova.
Nova stopped and pursed her lips a bit. "You've never worn heels before, have you?"
Emily was a bit taken aback, an even more surprised at herself for being a bit shocked at being asked so bluntly. Like not having worn heels was some kind of handicap, or a detriment to her character in some way.
She stared straight into the deep brown eyes of the other woman, "So what?"
Nova nodded and without a word she walked over to where Emily had been standing and scooped up both sets of heels. "It's no problem, dear. We'll start off small."
She went to the sales clerk and picked out a pair of low heel sandals. The soft tan color of the sandals gave it a very woodsy feel. Emily felt herself get just a bit excited at the thought of wearing them. The deep tan of the sandals would go with the colors that she now wore. Wait, what the hell was she thinking? She would not get excited about clothes. This whole thing was stupid. She didn't care about the dumb sandals, just like she didn't care about how smooth and soft the skirt and blouse felt against her skin. This whole thing was just really… dumb.

"Now," Nova said turning towards Emily and setting the sandals down on the floor, "You have something to wear when we leave. It's not like you can walk around barefoot."
Emily rolled her eyes at the sandals. But her left foot slipped into them, almost on its own. It was a perfect fit. They felt a little stiff at first. She felt the soft rise of the sandal under her heel. In spite of herself, she felt a smile spread softly on her lipse as she took a step in them. They looked really good on her pale skin, and they felt amazing, like they had been custom made for her feet. She wiggled her toes at herself from the sandals.
"Emily? It's time to go," Nova said softly.
Emily looked up to see that the woman had three bags in her hands. The bags had fabric and some boxes in them. Emily stifled a groan. She had no idea what was in the boxes, but it looked like it was more of what she was wearing, not that that was, in itself, a bad thing. She remembered she had ignored most of what had happened and what clothes Nova had picked out. She would enjoy burning those bags and whatever they contained when she got back to her apartment.
She followed Nova back outside. Michael had the trunk to the car open and Nova carefully set the bags into the car. Michael held her door open as Nova slipped into the car. Emily was forced to wait on the driver to open her door. She grimaced at him as he reached in front of her and opened the door. She should have been let in first, but whatever. She slid into the car and felt the leather of the seat.
The leather folded around her. Its soft texture was apparent through her blouse and skirt. She hadn't felt anything like this before. Her heightened vampire senses allowed her skin to snuggle warmly against the leather through the soft fabric of her new clothes. She hadn't paid any attention to how things really felt against her skin before. But this new sensation was something that she may have to spend time paying attention to in the future.
As the car began to move, Nova turned to Emily. "Emily, you don't really like your new clothes, do you?" Nova asked quietly.
Emily stopped indulging her senses and looked at Nova very hard. She knew she was breathing hard, she wanted this human to see her irritation and maybe it'd make her back off. If not maybe something more… physical might be needed. "I'm going to burn all these clothes when I get back to my apartment," Emily said.
Nova nodded. "That's a shame," Nova replied as she faced forward.
"Only to you maybe," Emily retorted.
Nova didn't turn to face Emily but only looked ahead, watching the road as Michael drove.
Emily knew what this bitch was doing. She was trying to goad her into saying or doing something. Well, she wasn't some dumb kid who would fall for the old silent treatment. She could stay silent for just as long as Nova could. She folded her arms over her breasts and looked straight ahead as well.
