Ascension of the Sylvan Cosmos.

Chapter 575. My Roots Will Pierce The Heavens!

With a method in mind, setting up the space channels for her roots proved relatively straightforward. The first and most important detail she needed to consider was a method to lock on locations far beyond her domain.

Liu Shu's vision was incredibly complicated. She could see far more than the visible light spectrum, touching on Ternary Essence flows and even dimensional channels. This enabled her to layer several views simultaneously, which she then processed through her remarkable mental abilities.

'Let's see… Spatial stability has slightly softened since I took over Ceperet. Is it the <Temporal Flow> that my passive <Time Source> has created?'

Strangely, as she manipulated, got in touch, and experimented with <Eternal> energy, she noticed a link between time and space. She didn't dare touch on it too much, fearful that something might go wrong. Nevertheless, noticing it helped her develop a wide range of skills.

"To create a space channel that links the underground with far beyond the influence of Ceperet, I would need a lot more strength than I currently have. After all, Ceperet's gravitational influence stretches out far."

In her mind, Liu Shu perceived Ceperet as a whole, with forces and energy flows clearly depicted through colors and flowing diagrams. They were nothing presentable or understandable, even if someone gained the ability to peer into her mind and recreate the same imagery. However, for Liu Shu, it worked.

"Alright… If I were to spread my roots physically, that would be quite inefficient. My body would eventually be overwhelmed as well… I don't believe even a Level 200 World Tree would have the ability to spread throughout one solar system, not to mention several."

She still didn't really know how "large" the true size that a Star took as its own. But through some simple math, she knew that the numbers made her current achievement look nonexistent. "It would be like a dust mote trying to take over the entire Golden Sap City, including myself."

A wry smile appeared on her lips; she truly couldn't imagine it. "There must be something I am missing."

So, she began experimenting at the highest place she could reach through space-tunneling. Her ternary essence spread up, focusing on a single direction until her senses became faint. With that location locked, Liu Shu used her Aether Mana and transformed it into a steady stream of Space Aether Mana.

This stream of essence drilled into the fabric of space, following similar principles to <World Tree Calling>. "In the end, summoning is like temporarily opening a space channel between dimensions that allows them to manifest here. Yet, since they are linked with some help from the system, they are also linked to their original place. This is why, when the energy you use to keep them runs out, they are forcibly unsummoned."

Focusing on her current actions, Liu Shu's spatial energies drilled through space from around 10,000 meters underground up to the maximum height she achieved, which was around 100,000 meters.

"It's… difficult. Like trying to pull on an already stretched-out elastic band." However, focusing her energy and effort, she eventually linked both ends. The second both sides touched, Liu Shu noticed all the pressure disappeared from her mind as a visible anomaly appeared both in the sky and in the group.

Firstly, the light distortion in the sky changed to a reddish hue, and then the material from the underground began flowing through it. Liu Shu looked at the magma dripping down from the "hole in the sky" with curiosity.

"There is… no resistance whatsoever after the channel is set up? Is this channel permanent now?"

The hole was not too large, just a meter wide. Still, it was enough to create something like a magmafall. "Can I… close it?"

Her gaze pierced again into the dimensional layer, and her energy limbs tightly squeezed the opened passage. "Oh, branches in my canopy, you are so tough!"

Liu Shu screamed out her children's names while trying to squeeze out the last drop of strength from her roots. "My adorable Funaaa!!!"

BANG!

"Oh, it bro—"

BOOM!

A gargantuan explosion occurred simultaneously in the sky and underground, resulting from the backlash of the spatial channel collapsing. "Wow~." Liu Shu felt the earthquake while looking at the massive fireworks in the sky. "That's quite the backlash."

Liu Shu utilized her roots to protect marine life from the falling debris and absorb most of the shockwaves. This way, the resulting tsunami from the explosion wouldn't hurt anyone on land. "Thankfully, I am testing it above the ocean and in a secluded location.

Rubbing her roots, she quickly grasped the cause and effect involved in the explosion. What Liu Shu did was cut the tensed spatial rope, disregarding the backlash from it reverting to its original form. "Alright, take notes. When you want to cut a spatial channel, gently drag both ends back to their original spatial coordinates."

After nodding to herself, Liu Shu got the hang of it. "How much time… Three weeks!? Wow, after gaining the <Eternal> attribute, time passes by ridiculously fast if I am not paying attention. I should warn my family so that they don't think about not bothering me, and suddenly, I spent 20 years on something."

Speaking of her family, the four Sylvans seem to be almost prepared to tackle their Level 100 Level Up. During all the time she was sleeping, and even at her current moment, they had been fighting others like crazy and even discovering strange bonuses and benefits during their <Dungeon> explorations.

Liu Shu had taken over all <Dungeons> across the entire world, so she currently had over 19 of them under her control. "Speaking of the <Dungeons>, I have yet to look into them and modify them."

When Liu Shu was going to start looking through them, she paused. "...I almost got distracted again. Before I do anything else, I must set up the root spreading so that I can forget about it for a while!"

Spreading was relatively exponential. Therefore, the faster she started, the more time she would save when reaching very far-away locations. "Alright, I now understand how to create spatial channels. Now, I must do so much higher into space, at least at a distance slightly further than the Moon's orbit."

How would she do that? Liu Shu was honestly clueless. "But! There is always a reliable method when doing things for the first time... Brute force it!"

Liu Shu knew that she first needed to reach that place, and then, once there, she could make it more efficient with the knowledge gained from her initial approach. "So… Let's create two space channels. A thin one and a thick one. If I can easily widen and shrink them after creating them, it would be more efficient to make them thin initially. If it turns out to be otherwise… Well, I'll have to tunnel… tunnel…"

Liu Shu stopped as she thought aloud. Then, her eyes shone with brilliance. "Ah. I know how to do it!"

She focused on one of her thickest roots and then poured ridiculous amounts of Space Aether Mana into it, also coating it with Anima Energy. Once she did so, the tip of the massive root punched forward.

BOOM!

The underground shook from the shockwave, but the planet absorbed it without a problem due to the depth of that root's location. Together with the explosion, Liu Shu's roots also disappeared from sight.

Thankfully, it hadn't disintegrated from the force; instead, the root's tip had pierced into the dimensional gap and was now floating nowhere. Liu Shu focused her sight on that single root and grinned. "Great! Now… I will become the tree that pierces the heavens! Mega… Root… Breeaaaaakkk!!"

Liu Shu screamed with a big grin as her dimensional root pierced skyward, tunneling through space and covering incredible distances far longer than its actual length. Moreover, the root didn't bother the surface space, creating absolutely zero ripples in reality. This was thanks to Liu Shu's ability to manipulate dimensions, creating a space-shrinking and subspace effect.

"I need to adjust the ratio of space-shrinking and the resonance level with our current dimensional layer. However, once I do it, I will be able to detect everything, covering a fraction of the distances I would usually need to. After all, outer space is rather empty. So, as long as I detect layers of it instead of it as a whole, I will be able to notice any oddity."

What Liu Shu wanted was to create something like a spider's web. Did the spider need to create a solid layer of silk to capture the flying bugs? Not at all. With very thin but resistant threads, a spider covered incredible surfaces with barely any thread.

"So… What I must do is create an upscaled version and increase its complexity to a three-dimensional plane so that I can cover the entire Solar System! If I add the spatial shrinkage to this method, the quantity and volume of roots I will need will decrease by several orders of magnitude!"

She didn't start coating her roots straight away, experimenting with the root for speed, detection range, etc. "Alright, let's use my subconscious for these technical details… Now that I have the initial method, I just need to experiment. No need for my main consciousness to work on this actively."

So, Liu Shu metaphorically threw it to the back of her mind, focusing on the rest of the world. "So… I've dealt with urgent matters, I've dealt with the problem of how to spread my roots, and I've also informed the important people about my changes so that they can create new regulations and such following my rules…"

Liu Shu reviewed the law and politics book she had written a few years before, checking for any inconsistencies or loops. Once she did, she was baffled. "What was I thinking!? How could I not see these absurd loops that people can abuse when we start interacting with outer-world forces!? Bad past me! Bad! Bad! Bad! Short-sighted!"

If her past self were here, she would be aggravated, asking how in their branches' name would she know that there was life beyond Ceperet.

And so, the World Tree absorbed a new batch of information from many libraries and quickly sorted out a new, much more refined and streamlined version of law. Seeing the relatively thick book, the World Tree blinked. "I am sure the people studying law will be quite happy to learn new stuff! Learning is very fun, after all."

Strangely, when she said that, there was a collective lament all around the world filled with the harrowing sadness from anyone working in law-related professions. Of course, Liu Shu ignored the strange feeling of resentment she would eventually receive and began extending her malevolent roots to all other social branches, such as the economy and science.

Many scholars would name this the Knowledge Revolution Year, which sent all deeply educated people into a worldwide study session, forcing Liu Shu to remodel the Endless Library and expand its already expansive terrain to house as many experts as possible.
