Since the plan proposed by the Enchanting Demon Queen was unanimously approved by the demigods, they set out to leave Watch Town and began to head towards the lower Mushroom Forest.
Arriving at the outskirts of Watch Town, they suddenly saw a demigod bar patron from the tavern earlier, huddled closely with a robed figure of short stature on the stone path outside the town, seemingly muttering about something.
Somewhere in the Sea of Silence, the lower layer.
"Mia, you're amazing!"
Aske spared no words of praise for Mia, who had grasped the space affinity passive skill.
He could certainly see the value of this talent. For example, Ripple Sword is known to fly everywhere, but it's actually just short-distance, short-duration teleportation on the battlefield; long-distance traveling often ends abruptly due to lack of endurance.
In Mia's words, every long-distance teleportation was like spinning 360 degrees in place in one second, a sensation both sour and thrilling.
With the space affinity skill, Mia's little head now came equipped with a balancing bar, making it harder for her to get dizzy while flying, and facilitating dozens of flash teleports per minute with ease.
It was as if Aske had a version of Star Nine Forms at his disposal, turning what others considered a powerful strike into his casual basic attack, instantly elevating his technical expertise.
The structure of the Sea of Silence resembled a layered cake, made up of countless layers of dark matter rock, each layer separated by huge gaps big enough for the Dark Elf Clan to inhabit. Mia led the group in ceaseless teleportation, roughly hundreds of times, until they finally reached the upper edge of the Sea of Silence.
"Once we step out of the Sea of Silence, up next is the Mushroom Forest," said Aske. "The troglodyte tribes living there are generally friendly towards humans, so it's somewhat safer..."
"Aske!" Miel suddenly screamed.
Aske immediately turned around and drew his sword, as a huge fissure in the ground sped towards the four of them from a distance. At his sword-drawn position, the fissure was forced to naturally split to both sides, sending countless flying stones pelting the surroundings with a crackling sound.
The attacker was a sudden black mist that manifested from nowhere, coalescing into a pair of ferocious eyes glaring over. Beside it was a mysterious figure cloaked in black, its hood casting a dim and blurry shadow that concealed the face.
Shadow Demon Lord Gamoduo, Mysterious Person Mularafak.
Another wave of invisible, intense fluctuations came stealthily towards them.
Fear Shock!
Aske suddenly drew his sword and once again precisely cut through the opponent's mental attack at just the right moment.
"Intuition Sequence?" The black mist emitted a noise like sandpaper rubbing together, a shrill laugh. "Then, how about trying this?"
As the words fell, Aske's intuitive ability began to wildly sound alarms, as an overwhelming barrage of invisible attacks from all directions closed in on the group, leaving barely any gaps.
"Aske!" Miel called out. Her intuitive ability also sensed the start of a widespread AOE sustained attack, and Star Nine Forms' Soul Shattering could only sever single attacks, which wasn't very effective against such continuous damage.
Aske didn't reply, just quickly made a hand gesture.
Ignore me, you all retreat first!
Mia immediately tried to teleport away with the three companions, only to see the mysterious Mularafak across from them suddenly raise his head, revealing a pair of unnatural, eerie eyes with what seemed like countless threads writhing within them.
Unknown Barrier.
Mia instantly felt the space around her begin to chaos, and the previously clear vectors for teleportation also started to twist and deform. If they tried to teleport through it forcefully, they feared they might make a mistake and tumble once again into the Big Cave at the bottom of the Abyss.
Just then, the chaotic space was severed again, and Aske shouted,
"Go!"
Mia quickly used the rift in space to teleport away, vanishing with Miel and Kapei. At the same time, Aske blinked and suddenly appeared beside the mysterious Mularafak.
He had plundered Mia's Ripple Sword.
Taking advantage of teleportation to close the distance instantly, Aske raised his sword and delivered a Lion's Fang Slash, only to be parried by a shadow that swept out from beneath the other's robe.
It was actually a tail.
Mularafak had blocked the sword strike with his tail.
"Heh," Aske sneered, and the next second, he appeared beside Gamoduo, executing a Dragon Slash!
The dark mist around Gamoduo surged, showing no concern for the sword strike. After all, apart from intense light, normal physical attacks couldn't hurt a Shadow Demon.
Yet the moment the sword strike touched the dark mist, a sharp cry of pain erupted from the Shadow Demon Lord; the sword strike... it actually had the power to obliterate the dark mist, causing his body to weaken rapidly!
Star Nine Forms. Life Destruction, deducting a percentage of the opponent's Life Force, its effect akin to a weakened version of Peggy's Curse Death.
Mularafak, nearby, hurried to aid but suddenly froze in place, as if he had forgotten something.
Seizing the moment while the effects of Star Nine Forms. Burning Heart still lingered, Aske once again blinked to Mularafak's side and delivered another Lion's Fang Slash.
Mularafak, who had quickly snapped out of his daze, could only raise his tail in time to Block. However, the longsword emitted a strange hum this time, slicing through the tail as easily as cutting tofu, and simultaneously cleaved his body diagonally in two.
The severed body did not bleed but instead fused together in a bizarre manner. Faced with Aske's uncanny Star Nine Forms attacks, Mularafak was forced into a desperate act. He activated the Demigod's ultimate Skill—Body Conceptualization, also known as "Demigod Blood Lock"—to prevent himself from being instantly killed by the opponent's magical swordsmanship.
Before the sword strike was complete, Aske disappeared from the spot again. Gamoduo also hastily activated Body Conceptualization and expanded his Domain to envelop the surroundings, to prevent being assassinated by this strange human again.
Both Demigod BOSSES scanned their surroundings anxiously, but even after about a minute, they still had not witnessed Aske reappear.
"Could it be… he ran away?" Mularafak hesitated.
"He ran!" Gamoduo immediately burst into Anger.
It was only now that he fully realized—they were Abyssal Demigods! How could they have been so passively defensive against a human who hadn't reached the Demigod Rank, to the point that they hadn't even noticed when their opponent had escaped for over a minute?
Rage. Feeling immensely humiliated, Gamoduo flew into a helpless fury, and the ground around him once again suffered, smashed into countless small clumps by his Earthquake.
"Let's pursue," Mularafak said nonchalantly, "Don't be careless this time."
His words had levels to them. It wasn't that their strength was lacking, but that they had been just a bit careless earlier, which allowed this human to force them into a defensive position.
Consequently, Gamoduo's anger diminished, and he muttered, "Go!"
Mularafak then teleported away with him. This time, however, both Demigods finally understood...
Whether it was fleeing or fighting, their opponent was not someone to be easily dealt with.
The subsequent pursuit would require their full effort!
