"One question correct, one question incorrect."
Key Changing said with some regret.
"What a pity, I thought we could end the game early."
There are only eight questions in total, and the Hero has already answered two correctly. If the third and fourth questions are correct, then half of the questions would be right, even if the last four are all wrong, it would still be a draw.
The Hero naturally understood this.
But now she neither rejoiced over guessing one right nor lamented over answering one wrong, she just stared blankly at Key Changing, hesitant to speak.
"What's the matter? Hero, are you not proceeding?" The sub-key tilted its head.
"The answer to the third question is the purification of the world, and the fourth... is Goblin?" After a long silence, the Hero finally spoke.
"That's right."
"The purpose of the Gate of Heaven is purification, and it was once pushed open by a Goblin??"
"That's correct."
"Are you serious???"
"Of course."
The Hero widened her eyes, falling into a long silence. Her expression seemed frozen as it hadn't changed for a long time. After a while, she spoke again, somewhat unwillingly.
"Is there a possibility... I mean, did you make a mistake?"

In fact, the Hero did not know how special or holy the Gate of Heaven truly was.
But this did not prevent her from understanding its extraordinary nature.
Crystallization of faith, embodiment of goodness, a gathering of countless prayers... Even without these solemn descriptions, this gate surely wasn't something a Goblin could push open, nor should it have been pushed open by one.
Let's hypothesize, in the largest library of the Capital, known for its rationality and knowledge, there is an extremely precious book enshrined in the deepest part. It is carefully guarded, records countless forbidden knowledge, can be said to be a key to truth, and bears all the citizens' aspirations...
And this book was once used by a Goblin to wipe its butt.
The citizens who learned of this fact would probably be filled with rage.
Too absurd, too bizarre, so much so that the Hero initially heard an implication in Key Changing's words, yet still chose to ignore it, subconsciously thinking it was a linguistic trap.
"How could the Angels allow such a thing to happen? Even if it happened after the city's destruction, how did the Goblins reach the deepest part of the city?"
In the face of the Hero's doubt, Key Changing was not annoyed.
"Hero, you know, I am a doll created by the Four-winged King, a failed copy of the Divine Knowledge Saintess.
"But even so, I successfully inherited a part of my mother's qualities, in the ability of 'knowing the truth', my error rate is very low."
"This..."
Seeing the Hero's expression of comprehension yet struggle to accept, Key Changing continued:
"However, if I don't respond, you won't be able to accept this answer either. So particularly, I'll explain to you before punishment.
"Hero, if you mention 'the most evil life', what comes to your mind? This is not a riddle, you can answer directly."
Goblin—
The answer immediately surfaced in her mind, but the Hero's lips parted slightly, producing some hesitation.
The most evil... Can the Goblin really bear such a description?
Even though the Hero considers these disgusting Green Skins her life's extermination target, recalling past experiences, she can hardly make such a judgement.
She has encountered Evil Demons thousands of times stronger than Goblins and witnessed tragedies that the wisdom of Goblins could hardly create.
Just like the Royal City she's currently in, countless innocent citizens died here, becoming mountains of corpses and seas of blood.
The sins of all the Goblins she has seen might not even compare to a fraction of this place.
And what created this mortal hell were not other magic creatures, but humankind itself.
Seeing the Hero not respond immediately, Key Changing did not pause either.
"You might think of the Great Demon of the Twisted World, of Cacodemons that feed on curses, of Evil Spirits that hate all living beings... but you probably wouldn't think of Goblins, right?
"Let's change the question.
"Hero, if you mention the most irredeemable life, what comes to mind?"
"Goblins."
The Hero blurted out.
"Exactly."
Key Changing smiled and nodded.
"Nightmares can feed on sweet dreams, helping people dissolve fear; Succubuses can keep themselves chaste, upholding purity and holiness; Undead can recollect thoughts, fighting to protect the living... many beings seen as evil actually have a potential to change their own destiny.
"But Goblins... these weak, dim-witted, pathetic beings cannot even fall further into depravity, they have no such possibility."
The sub-key sighed softly.
"Then why...?"
"It's simple, Hero."
Faced with the Hero's confusion, Key Changing closed its eyes, a gentle smile appearing at the corners of its mouth.
"If even such irredeemable existences can be saved... If that day comes, then there will be no existence in this world that can't be redeemed.
"And that is precisely—the moment when the Gate of Heaven stands wide open."
