North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 709: 443 Sniper_2

Caitlin waited several days without results, then flew directly back to Langley. It was still necessary to complete the investigation as soon as possible to avoid further complications.

-----------------

In a command center in Washington, D.C., members of the National Research and Analysis Group sat dejected in their chairs following a failed assassination mission, a botched operation involving an agent from the Harvest Plan, codename 5. They had deployed Agent 3 from the Las Plan in Manila to target the Harvest Plan 5 agent, but the mission failed; the Harvest Plan 5 agent vanished, and Las Plan 3 agent died.

Thus, their purge operation concluded in an imperfect manner.

Rick: "Okay, guys, let's not think about 5 anymore, that matter is over. Now let's move on to the next issue, Stumbling Block 13. Wendell, show his profile on the big screen."

Wendell returned to his computer, pulled up Jimmy's CIA profile, and displayed it on the big screen.

A chubby man said, "Who is this guy? Is he related to us?"

Rick: "Jimmy Yang, Stumbling Block 13. He underwent the same training as the control group, but compared to others, his training performance was not satisfactory, thus the control training plan was canceled, and he was assigned a dormant task, staying domestic and not deployed overseas."

Rick looked at Wendell, "Show his current profile."

Once Jimmy's FBI profile appeared on the big screen, Rick continued, "For safety reasons, everyone involved in the Stumbling Block plan needs to be eliminated, even though he wasn't involved in the drug trials being part of the control group. Over four years ago, Target 13 took on a covert operation, moved to Arkansas, and became a county police deputy. Perhaps due to side effects from agent training, after several stable months, he began to exercise violent law enforcement, killing over 50 suspects in his two-year tenure as county police."

"Holy shit! He wasn't dismissed for that?"

Rick: "Yes, according to his records, each killing had a reasonable justification and adhered to procedures. After 9/11, as the FBI expanded, 13 was recommended by the Little Rock FBI office to enter the Quantico academy, then assigned to the Manhattan office.

Within two years, he solved multiple major cases, including serial bombings and airline hijackings, continuing the approach he had as county police, with over 100 suspects dying by his hand, and was recently promoted to Senior Agent.

A few days ago, a five-man military squad ambushed him on the busy streets of Manhattan; he was shot once, and the entire squad was wiped out. That's all the information we have."

"Are you sure he's just a regular agent? Have you hidden some other plan from us?"

Rick: "No, I assure you. Now, how should we deal with him?"

Wendell spread his hands, "What can we do with such an agent? A five-man squad with automatic weapons couldn't take him down even in an ambush; should we deploy the military directly?"

Rick was also troubled; he had only glanced over the data initially. In two to three years, he became a Senior Agent and seemed quite skilled. At that time, he was still focused on hunting down Harvest Plan 5, so he paid no attention. Later, upon reviewing Jimmy's data again, he realized he'd taken on a very challenging mission.

Just reviewing the documents, it was clear how tough Jimmy was; even Burns, who had blown their cover before, didn't have such an impressive file. Burns was hard to find and catch, and in a similar scenario of an ambush by a five-man squad, Burns wouldn't fare much better.

Meanwhile, Jimmy, in broad daylight on the busy streets of Manhattan, not only avoided getting killed but managed to wipe out the entire five-man squad. Direct assault was a bankrupt option, not to be considered anymore.

Rick: "Let's dismiss all plans for direct assault, any ideas? We don't have many people available right now."

Wendell: "Call people back? Las Plan 1 and 2 should be available now."

Rick shook his head, Las Plan was an advanced version of the Harvest Plan; Las Plan agents were more committed to their missions, unaffected by emotions, an infallible Stumbling Block plan without emotional distractions, they were the best agents.

Due to their excellence, however, the costs were also very high. Losing a Las Plan agent was painful; they had already lost number 3. Losing number 1 and 2 would ruin the entire plan. Too bad, if it had been a bit earlier, Harvest Plan 5 was a good choice. He couldn't attack head-on, but his sniper rifle was excellent.

Rick seized an idea from before: "Wendell, check the reserves for anyone who has undergone sniper enhancement training."

Wendell nodded and turned to start searching the system.

-----------------

Jimmy, bored in his hotel room, rested, having finished reading those documents. All that was left was to wait a couple more days to get food and recuperate before heading to Albany.

He talked to Nia on the phone for a while. Although it had been a week without a second attack, Jimmy still didn't let Nia come to the hotel. He couldn't be sure there wouldn't be another attack, as the previous attacks had occurred days apart, not continuously.

After finishing his nightly routine, Jimmy checked the news online, then lay down to sleep.

In the middle of the night, Jimmy's Sixth Sense once again woke him. He rolled out of bed immediately and heard the sound of popping, mixed with the crackling noise of shattering glass.
