Chapter 768: 466 Illegal border crossing_3

Moreover, this passage let him know whether there were other arrangements or even if they intended to do something at the end.

The passage was not a straight line but had several turns ahead. If someone was unfamiliar with the route, they might lose their sense of direction after a while, but Jimmy had "Heart Eye" for scanning, so maintaining a sense of direction was not an issue for him, and there were no surprise attacks at the corners either.

He didn't know how far it was now because although Tony's map marked the exit location, it didn't mark the entrance, and because of the angle where he got out of the car, he couldn't see the Grand River, so this distance was definitely not close.

But for Jimmy, this wasn't a big problem. After walking a few hundred meters, he had already seen the river channel overhead within the range of "Heart Eye" — an arched surface that was distinctly a waterway.

As he continued forward, Jimmy found a room next to the passage, but there was no one inside and no equipment either.

After walking about a kilometer, Jimmy finally saw the exit within the range of "Heart Eye." So, was Tony's claim about the passage being guarded by two or three people entirely unfounded?

A ladder leading upwards emerged, similar to the entrance on the United States side made with steel reinforcement bars as footrests, except this passage seemed to be within a building, and there were two people inside the building.

Jimmy climbed up, gently pushed the panel above, and easily pried open a slit without making much noise, so there was no problem. Jimmy directly pushed the panel open, climbed into the room, and then replaced the panel.

This was a residential structured house, and the room was a storage room, merely separated from the entrance of the passage and the doorway by a pile of stuff.

Having confirmed that the other two people were in the living room, Jimmy slung his MP7 to his back, drew his silenced Glock 19, and simply pushed the door open. The door hinge probably hadn't been sprayed with WD40 for a long time, squeaking loudly as it moved.

The two people in the living room clearly heard the door open; they spoke a sentence Jimmy didn't understand and cautiously reached for their pistols to move towards the storage room.

Jimmy peeked around the corner to identify their faces, but they spotted his movement and started shooting directly at the corner. Jimmy ducked back and, taking advantage of their momentary cover to cease firing, lunged out and with a "puff, puff" took both down with headshots, ending their lives.

These two tasked with guarding the passage didn't look like regular soldiers. Though he hadn't seen their face tattoos clearly, such individuals typically represented one type of person, making Jimmy sure they weren't the type to show mercy. He had once guessed they might be CIA agents, but it turned out he was wrong.

Therefore, without hesitation, Jimmy proceeded with the initial plan: to clear the area making sure they wouldn't get tipped off early, which could lead to an ambush when he would arrive at the manor.

Jimmy searched the bodies, then inspected several rooms to ensure his exit was secure before finally leaving the house and walking outside.

These two clearly looked like permanent low-level guards, with not even a vehicle outside; they probably could only switch shifts or leave when others brought supplies.

Jimmy glanced at his mobile phone. The GPS coordinates matched almost exactly with the exit mark on the map Tony had provided, so it appeared Tony's information was reliable. Confirming his direction, he walked towards the manor.

Jimmy was currently dressed entirely in black and wore a black head cover. In the pitch dark of the night, as long as no one shone a light on him, he should remain undetected.

After walking a while, Jimmy regretted his choice; indeed, he was still lacking experience. In his current environment, the pure black clothing and head cover made him even darker than his surroundings. If someone looked carefully, they might make out his silhouette—a real downside of not having proper training.
