North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 773: 468 Ambush_2

Barrio: "It was provided by the CIA. I just used it. I guess the people who wanted to stay there must be dead by now?"

Jimmy nodded, and Barrio continued, "It's top secret, only Ralph knew about it besides them, but Ralph is already dead, on the second floor."

Jimmy: "What about the person on the third floor?"

Barrio: "I needed his family connection, but not anymore."

Jimmy: "OK, your money and warehouse, that's all."

Barrio stood up, "The key is in the safe." After speaking, he walked towards the study on the first floor; the place where Jimmy had just killed a man was the study. Barrio moved the body aside, opened the safe behind it, took out some documents, and left a pile of paper money untouched in the safe.

Barrio placed the documents and keys on the table: "All this, I can give to you, but I hope you can spare my child."

Jimmy nodded, "I don't have a habit of killing children, as long as you're cooperative enough."

Barrio opened a drawer, took out a pistol, and walked in front of the table, aiming the gun under his own jaw, "I believe you."

"Bang"

This man understood the situation, he was betting on Jimmy's humanity. With such a sudden intrusion, he certainly wouldn't survive, but if there was the slightest chance, he could gamble his own death for a small chance of his child's survival.

He was really lucky; Jimmy was indeed a real CIA agent, but he wasn't a typical one.

Jimmy took a bag from the study, stuffed all the materials and the contents of the safe into it, slung it over his shoulder, and left the study.

He glanced upstairs, making sure the two people, one large, one small, were still in the room, huddled in a corner. The person in the kitchen remained in the storage without coming out.

Arriving at the back door, Jimmy opened it and started running. The servants were no longer in their lounge, probably having run out the back door when Jimmy started shooting inside the main building. It didn't matter to him; he never intended to harm them. Whether they could continue to live after escaping would depend on whether the support Barrio called for would take any human action.

Three kilometers wasn't a long distance. Jimmy only had two pistols on him; he had thrown the MP7 in the yard and was too lazy to go back for it. With the addition of a bag and its contents, running wasn't easy. However, since the backup hadn't arrived yet—and even if they had, just dealing with the mess in the mansion would take a lot of time—they wouldn't have much chance to catch up with him, so his mood was relatively relaxed.

Due to the load he was carrying and the environmental conditions, it took Jimmy almost half an hour to run the three kilometers to the civilian house, at one point almost losing his direction, but luckily he corrected it by watching the GPS coordinates.

Returning to the civilian house that covered the tunnel, Jimmy first looked around outside to make sure no one else was there before he entered the house. Turning off the lights inside, he felt his way through the tunnel, heading towards the United States.

The passage was as empty as when he came, and Jimmy smoothly crossed the Grand River, entering United States territory. But when he got near the exit, he discovered that there were two more people by the exit, now with three people sitting in three different directions above.

This wasn't a good sign. If there was only one person, that would definitely be Tony, and Jimmy would go straight up. Now with three people, given their positions, they were most likely planning to kill and silence anyone involved.

Jimmy quietly approached the exit without emerging, trying to get as close as he could to listen to the movements above.

After what felt like a long while, there was some noise above; the cover over the tunnel was opened, a person peeked down the passage, then covered it once again. The three seemed to exchange words, but Jimmy couldn't hear anything.

After a few minutes, one person above suddenly stood up, said a few words, then lifted the cover and started to descend slowly.

Seeing his actions, Jimmy had already moved back. With the tunnel pitch black and a corner up ahead, Jimmy had hidden himself by the time the man entered the tunnel. A beam of light shone through, and an unfamiliar voice said, "No one's in the tunnel. He must not have made it."

"The word has come through from the other side. He was successful. We should just wait here."

The flashlight went off, and the person returned to the surface, the cover closed once more.

Indeed, they were waiting for him. These people were too unprofessional. Jimmy was very upset. He had doubts when he first entered the tunnel, and it turned out they were doing exactly that.

Jimmy sat at the corner, waiting for the people above, whether they would leave or come down. They had to do something eventually, and sitting outside all night wouldn't be a problem. But if they were still sitting there by daylight, it would definitely attract attention.

Actually, it didn't go beyond Jimmy's expectations; at around 2 a.m., the people above had already been moving quite a bit. This time, they seemed determined to come down and check the tunnel and the situation on the Mexico side.

Two people descended into the tunnel, one after the other, with the light from two flashlights illuminating their path. Each held a gun in one hand and a flashlight in the other as they walked toward him.

Jimmy didn't retreat but drew his Glock. When they were a few meters away, Jimmy suddenly stepped out and fired. Their torsos were robust, either wearing bullet-proof vests or they were individuals who enjoyed working out. In any case, the head was Jimmy's target.

The silenced Glock was effective, but Jimmy wasn't sure if the slight gunshot sound would travel through the confined tunnel. He just made sure to eliminate both men, who had no chance to react or fire back before they fell to the ground.

Jimmy, without the bag, approached the exit lightly. The only person above was standing aside, seemingly in the act of urinating. Jimmy slowly climbed up, and by the time his upper body was out of the tunnel, that person turned around, with both hands busy zipping up.

"Don't move, raise your hands."

Jimmy aimed his gun and slowly climbed two steps before crawling up and lying on the ground.

"Jimmy, you're still alive, that's great."

"No, it's not great at all. Tony, tell me, who told you to do this?"

The only one left above was Tony, and that guy had some nerve, having sent the other two down while he stayed up there.

Tony: "No, no, what are you thinking? We're just here backing you up. We hadn't heard from you for so long, they went down to check out the situation on the other side."

Jimmy: "Don't lie, I wasn't just at the entrance. I'm very clear about what you said earlier, now, tell me, who's behind this? Who were those two?"

Tony: "You killed them?"

Jimmy: "Or what?" It was pitch black; they couldn't see each other's expressions, but they could still make out each other's silhouettes.

Tony: "I didn't come to kill you, I just came to back you up, believe me, I wouldn't be so stupid as to go against someone who can wipe out Azte's boss."

Jimmy: "Turn around." Jimmy wasn't going to keep asking, he ordered Tony to turn around, took his gun from him, and pulled out his cell phone from his pocket.

Jimmy directly pressed Caitlin's number, dialed, and put it to his ear.

Caitlin: "Tony, is there an emergency?"

Jimmy: "Caitlin, it's Jimmy."

Caitlin: "Have you finished your business?"

Jimmy: "Yes, but there was a little accident. Is Tony one of yours?"

Caitlin: "Is he in trouble? Why do you have his phone?"

Jimmy: "Well, there was a little accident, is he one of yours? Who should I contact?"

Caitlin: "He's not one of mine, but I can contact someone for you. Where are you?"

Jimmy: "If he's not one of yours, then never mind, goodbye." After saying that, Jimmy hung up the phone. "Tony, seems like your identity isn't so simple, huh."

Tony: "You've checked with Caitlin, I'm really not your enemy."

Just as Jimmy was about to speak, Tony's phone rang again—it was Caitlin calling back.

Caitlin: "Jimmy, what's happened?"

Jimmy: "Tony brought two men to ambush me at the passage exit. Don't move!" Tony raised his voice slightly: "I didn't, he's lying."

Jimmy shouted: "Shut up." Then he continued with the phone to his ear, "You heard him, he's still alive."

Caitlin: "It's up to you now. Where are you?"

Jimmy: "Laredo."

Caitlin: "Wait there for me." She then hung up.

Jimmy put away his phone. "Tony, last chance."

Tony: "Believe me, I really just came to back you up."

Jimmy didn't waste any more words and fired, not giving him a chance to react, "puth".
