Immortal Creed

Chapter 238: Invitation

"What do you need my help with?" Liens asked directly, his tone flat, seemingly unfazed by Lucrezia's earlier attempts to get closer to him.

"Your expression is still as flat as ever… Since you're in a hurry, I won't beat around the bush."

"I hope you can join the Rebel Army and help us achieve victory."

"As for compensation… everyone who joins the Rebel Army has their own purpose. Some are driven by faith, some pursue dreams, and some are simply for certain benefits."

"Whatever you want, as long as I can provide it, I will do my best to satisfy you."

Lucrezia's expression was serious, and her tone was solemn.

But whether intentional or not, the word 'satisfy' was drawn out slightly, sounding like a gentle, alluring whisper.

At the same time, her deep green eyes revealed a hazy aura, and her towering peaks subtly trembled with her breathing.

She didn't say it explicitly, but it seemed she was hinting at something.

Liens remained calm. Though separated by a great distance, he couldn't sense Lucrezia's emotions at that moment.

However, based on his understanding of her, this posture was likely just an act.

Observing Liens' calm expression, Lucrezia, far away, was also troubled by her inability to precisely ascertain his emotions.

Otherwise, the negotiation would have been much more advantageous.

"Tell me what difficulties you've encountered. If things were progressing smoothly, I imagine no one would want an extra person to share the spoils," Liens said.

In his view, the Rebel Army was a group of people intending to overthrow the Hartwin Kingdom's rule and establish a new regime.

As for whether this new regime would be good or bad, he couldn't fully discern it yet, but regardless, if their venture was successful, the other side wouldn't need to bring in another partner.

"Currently, we have indeed encountered some trouble. Let me briefly explain the current situation."

"At present, the rebellion we instigated has almost swept across the entire Hartwin Kingdom, and over half of the rebellious regions have been occupied by our Rebel Army."

"Furthermore, we don't just occupy a city like bandits and then stop; instead, we promote our ideology and transform the city."

"And as more and more people join us, we hold some advantage in the confrontation with the Kingdom."

"Everything was going smoothly, but we encountered an obstacle when preparing to attack the Royal Capital region. We had anticipated this, but we still need new forces to join us to counter the 'Kingdom Sword Saint'."

"You are very strong. Your ability to kill Earl Bard is undoubtedly a great help to us," Lucrezia explained the situation to Liens with a serious expression.

"Kingdom Sword Saint?"

Regarding this entirely new figure, Liens did not pretend to understand, directly expressing his question.

"You don't know? That Sword Saint is very renowned in the Hartwin Kingdom, and even in surrounding kingdoms. You might have heard his other title, 'Lord Demonbane'," Lucrezia explained.

"Oh, it's him… I heard about him in stories before, and thought he was a historical figure, but I didn't expect him to still be alive."

Liens showed a look of sudden realization. He had learned a bit about Lord Demonbane from heroic chronicles.

Legend has it that Lord Demonbane could single-handedly fight an army, or even, exaggeratedly, an entire nation. In stories, during periods of demonic unrest, he alone annihilated at least ten thousand attacking demons.

Whether the stories contained exaggerated descriptions or not, the tale of Lord Demonbane was indeed widely circulated.

"The stories are not exaggerated. That Sword Saint is even stronger than we imagined. Even with a dozen of our Second-tier Extraordinary Ones combined with a military formation, we only achieved a stalemate."

"Therefore, your participation might be the key to our victory."

Lucrezia's serious tone, paired with her earnest gaze, made one overlook the flattery in her words, as if she truly believed Liens was indispensable.

Liens was noncommittal about Lucrezia's attitude, not giving her a direct, precise answer, but instead asking a question he had always been curious about.

"I have a question. You should be of Hartwin royal blood, right? Why would you choose to join the Rebel Army and try to overthrow your royal family's rule?" Liens asked.

"For power… I suppose that answer fits your impression of me," Lucrezia smiled charmingly.

Upon hearing this, Liens chuckled indifferently and then continued, "Power, huh… Alright, it's just to satisfy my curiosity, the answer isn't important."

"I accept your invitation, and it also repays your previous favor… In three days, if Kara City no longer has any issues, I will set off to your location."

"What do you want?"

"As long as you can help me clear the obstacles on my path to the pinnacle of power, I can give you anything this country possesses, even myself," Lucrezia asked Liens about his desires again, further expressing her attempt to win him over.

In her opinion, this condition was entirely reasonable for securing Liens' allegiance.

Although her interactions with Liens were few, his ability to grow from a newly formed Extraordinary One to a strength capable of killing Earl Bard in just six months was enough for her to make such a significant wager.

If circumstances had allowed, she would have even gone to Kara City herself to negotiate with Liens, as face-to-face interaction would better leverage her advantages.

"Your words are quite similar to the conditions proposed by that person. However, I don't need any promises; your favor is enough for me to act."

"Moreover, joining the Rebel Army also has some benefits for me," Liens responded, shaking his head slightly.

The benefits he referred to were karma; joining the Rebel Army to fight the Kingdom would undoubtedly bring him immense karma.

Therefore, whether it was to repay a favor or to gain karma, Lucrezia's invitation at this moment was a good thing for him.

"You don't need anything?" A hint of disappointment flashed in Lucrezia's eyes.

No demands meant it would be difficult for her to fully win Liens over, and judging by his attitude, he clearly wasn't interested in her overtures, which was naturally not a good thing for her.

However, she did not give up on securing Liens' support. She planned to try and win him over further once he arrived at her location.

Everyone has desires; she didn't believe he was without wants, even ideals could be exploited.

"In that case, I will await your arrival here. Once you arrive, just use this alchemical compass to contact me."

"The first button is for communication, and the second is for positioning, which can guide you to the location and direction of my compass."

"The remaining buttons are for functions such as pathfinding, early warning, and insect repellent," Lucrezia explained, pointing to the compass on the ground.

After listening to the explanation, Liens nodded, indicating he understood. Seeing this, Lucrezia said no more and waved goodbye to Liens.

"Goodbye."

"Goodbye."
