Immortal Creed

Chapter 244: Faction

"You should have been able to discern the Rebel Army's faction situation from that previous meeting, right?" Lucrezia said with a faint smile.

"I can probably tell," Liens replied, nodding.

Although the conference table was round, it didn't mean there was no hierarchy. From the discussions at the previous meeting, it was not difficult to see Balder's dominant position within the Rebel Army.

Then, using Balder and Lucrezia as reference points, it was easy to discern the stances of the other individuals at the meeting.

For example, the young, handsome man who sat next to him earlier was undoubtedly from Lucrezia's faction.

"Although everyone's goals are consistent, relationships ultimately have varying degrees of closeness. Of course, this doesn't mean we will be in opposition to each other."

"It's just that the reasons everyone chose to join the Rebel Army differ, but on crucial issues, we always remain united."

"Moreover, the existence of factions also prevents the Rebel Army from becoming a dictatorship, effectively avoiding situations where a leader's erroneous decisions could plunge the entire Rebel Army into an abyss."

Lucrezia emphasized the reason for and necessity of the factions' existence to reduce Liens's potential aversion.

After all, she understood that Liens had directly supported the King as the absolute leader in Kara City, and might be displeased with the presence of multiple factions within the Rebel Army.

"You don't need to explain these things to me. I can sense whether some things are good or bad," Liens responded calmly, then sat on the bed and looked serenely at the alluring Lucrezia.

His "sense" was not based on experience, but rather on beliefs transmitted through causality.

After Balder, the leader of the Rebel Army, announced his welcome into the Rebel Army, he established a sufficient causal connection with the entire Rebel Army.

From this connection, he could generally judge the overall state of the current Rebel Army.

And from his current feeling, the beliefs transmitted through causality were generally positive, and most beliefs contained courage, dedication, and responsibility.

It was a belief of continuous effort and willingness to contribute for a grand goal.

This belief even existed not only among ordinary soldiers but also among many high-ranking members of the Rebel Army who transmitted similar beliefs to him.

Of course, this "many people" did not include Lucrezia; her belief was a pursuit of a higher level, possibly power or strength.

Although she couldn't discern anything from Liens's calm gaze, at least Liens didn't show any aversion, which was enough for Lucrezia.

"Since you're not averse to these things, I'll tell you about the current faction situation in the Rebel Army to help you understand it better."

"Currently, there are three factions within the Rebel Army."

"One is the former noble faction that I belong to, mainly consisting of some uncorrupted former nobles and former kingdom soldiers who were willing to follow me in rebelling against the kingdom."

"It's roughly similar to Gars and his group whom you met in Kara City."

"Currently, our faction has three Second-tier Extraordinary Ones, including myself, two of whom have just recently been promoted."

"Therefore, I very much hope that you can join our faction."

"The little tricks I used along the way were also to make you willing to join us, and at the same time to leave others with the impression that you have already joined our faction."

Lucrezia directly stated the reason for her charade along the way. After explaining, she looked at Liens intently, trying to discern something from his expression.

Liens was neither surprised nor astonished by this, nor did he respond in any way. He continued to look at her quietly, waiting for her next words.

"The second is the original Rebel Army led by Balder. Don Dolf, the magician from Kara City, belongs to this faction. They were also the ones who initially sparked the rebellions in various places."

"Balder and his group account for six people among the high-ranking members of the Rebel Army, which is close to half. At the same time, Balder is also the nominal leader of the Rebel Army."

"The third consists of members of the Heavenly Balance Church. The three individuals at the meeting who wore essentially identical attire are the divine envoys of the God of Absolute Fairness."

"And besides the three factions above, there are also two individuals who joined the Rebel Army in an individual capacity. You should have recognized who these two are at a glance, right?"

Without any suspense, Lucrezia quickly revealed the answer.

"That's right, it's Miss Isabelle and Old Mr. Robert."

"Whether it's the Tian Guang Church or the Adventurers' Association, at most only a few individuals will join the war in an individual capacity, and they will not intervene in large-scale conflicts."

"This would go against their consistently neutral stance."

"Of course, although Old Mr. Robert is a great Adventurer, he is only a registered Adventurer and not a true member of the Adventurers' Association."

"Logically speaking, your situation should be similar to Old Mr. Robert's, but I sincerely hope you can choose my side."

Liens initially intended to refuse Lucrezia, as he was too lazy to participate in any power struggles, but upon seeing what Lucrezia produced, he immediately changed his mind.

"This is a life gem. Keeping it nearby will slowly absorb the Life force within to nourish your body and restore your Life origin... I think you might need this."

With that, Lucrezia tossed the emerald gem in her hand to Liens.

Carefully catching the gem, watching its faint green glow, and feeling the rich Life force contained within, Liens suddenly found Lucrezia more pleasing to the eye.

"I will stand by your side and promise to do one thing within my capabilities that I am not particularly averse to."

Putting away the life gem, Liens made a promise to Lucrezia.

"One thing, huh..."

Lucrezia scrutinized Liens from head to toe with a meaningful gaze, lingering on his delicate face and certain key areas for a long time, as if contemplating something unspeakable.

"Are you really that fond of acting?"

Noticing Lucrezia's gaze, Liens felt a bit speechless.

"How are you so sure I'm acting? It's not just men who are lustful; women's desires in that regard are also considerable."

"And in terms of both strength and appearance, you are an excellent choice. Although you seem a bit young, that age difference makes me want to cherish you even more."

"So, I wouldn't mind if something happened between us."

Lucrezia teased.

"Are you saying that what you're asking for is to do 'that' with me?"

Liens's tone became somewhat serious, and he even began to unbutton his clothes, as if to fulfill Lucrezia's request through actual action.

"Not exactly."

"After all, I am a beautiful woman with exquisite features and a graceful figure. Actively asking a man to have relations with me would make me seem worthless."

"Of course, if you were to ask me, I wouldn't be unable to satisfy you, but... I want more."

Lucrezia stood up and slowly walked in front of Liens, her eyes full of affection. Her graceful bending posture made that abyss even more captivating.

"So, what is your request?" Liens calmly asked Lucrezia, who had pressed her face close to his.

"I hope you can teach me magic for a period of time, not theoretical instruction, but rather, when I experiment with magic on you, you can give me some feedback and guidance."

"Just like on the road earlier, your guidance to me regarding 'existence'."

Like a shape-shifting enchantress, Lucrezia's expression instantly turned serious, as if the previous flirtation was merely an illusion.

"Mhm."

Liens nodded and agreed to Lucrezia's request.

In fact, even without this request, if Lucrezia had come to consult him, he would have answered, because he was also looking forward to what insights her magic would bring him.
