What is an immortal?

Chapter 889: Good Stuff

Yuan Ming, relying on the Undying Tree Roots, discerned the situation within the Spirit Vein. Seeing no shadow in the Bronze Square Pool, and seemingly no guards around, thoughts churned in his mind. Finally, he couldn't resist and reached towards the Spirit Vein.

But in the next instant, the Undying Tree Roots he just extended seemed to hit a steel wall, being stopped in place.

Near the Spirit Vein, a vague pale yellow mist floated out, blocking the Undying Tree Roots and then swiftly dissipating.

"This Forbidden..." Yuan Ming furrowed his brows slightly and once again stimulated the roots, employing the Breaking Space Power.

However, the space near the Spirit Vein was as solid as iron. No matter how Yuan Ming urged it, he couldn't open a single pathway to let the roots pass through the Forbidden and delve into the Spirit Vein.

Unwilling to give up, Yuan Ming tried several more times, ultimately sighing helplessly and retracting the roots.

This was the first time he encountered a Forbidden that the Undying Tree Roots couldn't penetrate. He wondered if using the Sky-reaching Demon Pillar would make a difference.

However, such a high-level Forbidden, once breached, would surely be noticed by others, contrary to Yuan Ming's idea of secretly stealing the Power of the Sun.

"Better plan this for the long term."

Yuan Ming sighed deeply in his heart, resumed his seated position, and silently began cultivating.

"Boy, tomorrow at Chen hour, make your way to the marketplace east of White Emperor City." At this moment, Kong's voice suddenly echoed.

"Senior, have you perhaps discovered the whereabouts of another treasure?" Yuan Ming hurriedly asked.

"You'll know when you go." Kong didn't elaborate, then fell silent again.

The next day, at the beginning of Chen hour.

Yuan Ming left the Wulu Cave Mansion alone, following Kong's instructions, arriving at the marketplace located on the eastern side of White Emperor City.

Since it was still early, there weren't many stallholders yet. Yuan Ming wandered aimlessly, passing several stalls, all with unremarkable items.

"Senior Kong, what is it exactly you're having me look for here?" Yuan Ming couldn't help but whisper.

"Continue east. The stall on the far left, the owner wearing beast skin." Kong still didn't clearly state, just instructed.

Curiously, Yuan Ming moved forward and soon saw the stall Kong had mentioned.

Surprisingly, that beast-skin-wearing stall owner seemed to have just arrived as well, taking out items to sell one by one.

Feigning indifference, Yuan Ming loitered nearby, yet his Divine Sense constantly enveloped the stall, carefully inspecting every item.

"This is... Snow Jade!" When the stall owner took out a pale white jade, completely crystalline and exuding waves of cold air, Yuan Ming's eyes immediately brightened.

"Fellow Daoist, how much for this Jade?" He quickly stepped forward and asked the price.

"Five thousand Spirit Stones, no negotiation. Don't complain it's expensive. After all, this is my..." the beast-skin-clad man began to say.

"I'll take it." Without waiting for him to finish, Yuan Ming directly tossed a Storage Bag filled with Spirit Stones, took the Jade, and turned to leave.

The beast-skin man instinctively caught the Storage Bag, quickly counted it, confirmed the quantity was correct, and wanted to say something, yet could only watch Yuan Ming's receding figure.

Did I sell it too cheap?

He thought with some regret, wanting to catch up and reclaim the item from Yuan Ming, but for some reason, whenever this notion arose, he'd feel an indescribable terror.

Hesitating for a while, he ended up muttering a few curses, then sat back in a sulk, blaming only his poor judgement, unable to recognize true treasures.

On the other side, Yuan Ming, who had purchased the Jade, was quite pleased.

"Senior Kong, your investigative abilities are astonishing, always the first to know where the treasures are! If you have time, perhaps you could help me find more treasures. I'll try to give you more Vow Power Pills in return, never letting you act without reward." Yuan Ming sighed and let other thoughts arise.

"Cease your wishful thinking. Exercising my Divine Skills to seek items consumes a lot each time. If not for fulfilling promises, I wouldn't act lightly." Kong mercilessly quashed Yuan Ming's fantasies.

Yuan Ming also knew persuading someone like Kong with such high stature wasn't easy. For now, he could only wait for when Kong had needs, and then attempt some negotiation.

After this little interlude, Yuan Ming didn't immediately return but strolled around the marketplace, gaining insights into the White Emperor City's atmosphere from the side.

Unknowingly, Yuan Ming arrived outside a uniquely styled pavilion, resembling a mighty eagle with spread wings.

Looking up, he saw a Southern Wood tablet held in the eagle's beak, inscribed with "Ten Thousand Goods Immortal Trip."

With its business scope covering the entire Chuyun Realm, it's natural for there to be a branch of Ten Thousand Goods Immortal Trip in White Emperor City, which, from the exterior, appeared even more luxurious than the branch in Dongji Sea.

After some thought, Yuan Ming quickly stepped inside, entering the shop.

"Is the steward here?" Yuan Ming casually called over a clerk, briefly displaying his Minister Token.

The clerk, upon seeing it, hurriedly invited Yuan Ming into the inner hall and went to fetch the steward.

"Haha, I've long heard our establishment gained a remarkably capable Guest Elder. Now that I see you, it's truly extraordinary." Moments later, an old Daoist in robes, thin and holding a duster, came over with a smile.

"And you are...?" Yuan Ming saw his attire and was instantly puzzled.

"I am Hou Luyuan, serving under orders from the headquarters to oversee this place, temporarily taking the steward's position," the Daoist in robes said.
