Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 469: The Reason (Part 3)

"Yes, sir."

...

Monka Community, No. 328.

This is a two-story villa with a gray roof and yellow walls.

Several cars parked a little distance away from the house, and officers got out one by one; David and Luke exchanged a gesture, and David led his team to the front yard while Luke headed for the back door.

Besides Luke and Port, there were four other patrol officers assisting in the capture at the back door.

Luke hid with his team on the left side of the back door, while Port was on the right.

"Bang!" A rough door-breaking sound came from the front.

"LAPD!"

"Bang bang bang..." A burst of gunfire followed.

Luke gestured to Port and the others, the drug dealers might escape through the back door at any moment, everyone heightened their vigilance.

"Clink!" A crisp sound.

The glass of the window on the left side of the house shattered, and a shadow darted out from inside.

Luke heard the commotion and immediately rushed with his team to the left side of the house and saw a white male crouching on the ground.

"LAPD!"

The white male didn't even look as he instinctively flung out his right hand, moving quickly, a black metal chunk flew towards the officers.

"Grenade!"

"Get down!"

"Boom..." An explosion sounded, dust rose, dirt and debris flew everywhere.

Luke felt a ringing in his ears, his mind in a fog.

[Bulletproof Card activated, used.]

The grenade exploded not far away, and thanks to the protection of the Bulletproof Card, Luke wasn't injured.

The two patrol officers charging alongside him weren't as lucky; one had his arm injured.

The other lay unmoving on the ground, seemingly passed out.

"Clink!"

Port also rushed over, seeing the fleeing drug dealer, he fired directly, "Bang bang!"

The drug dealer fell to the ground, "Ah!" A miserable scream issued from his mouth.

Luke also stood up, holding his gun, he checked the scene and found the drug dealer was shot in the back and thigh, but seemed to be holding something in his hand.

"Grenade!"

Luke shouted, everyone was deafened by the explosion, any small sound was barely heard.

The drug dealer wasn't dead yet, his face showed a sinister smile, his right hand gripping the grenade, his left hand pulled the pin.

In the critical moment, Luke used the Accuracy Card, opening fire.

"Bang bang bang!"

Luke fired four shots in succession, all aimed at the drug dealer's left chest, immediately diving to the ground afterward.

"Boom..."

The grenade exploded once again.

However, since Luke had killed the drug dealer, the grenade was not thrown out, but exploded directly on the dealer's body.

Blood spilled, flesh, and shards of bone scattered everywhere.

Luke was splattered with blood, wiping his face with his hand, "Fuck! Lucky bastard."

Port quickly approached, "Captain, are you okay?"

"What did you say?" Luke shouted loudly.

"Captain, what did you say? I can't hear clearly," Port also pointed to his own ear.

Luke gestured to indicate he was fine.

Afterward, he hurried to check on the two injured officers, one had an arm wound, and Luke promptly helped to stop the bleeding.

The other one woke up, and it seemed there weren't major issues.

Luke called for an ambulance to enter the community immediately.

The commotion just now was loud, and most people hid at the sound of gunfire.

Some bolder ones saw the police capturing suspects and came over to watch, only to vomit upon seeing the yard full of blood and fragments.

David emerged from the back door, saw the situation, and said with disgust, "Damn drug dealers, how did they become so disgusting."

He walked through the blood to Luke's side, "Luke, you're not hurt, right?"

Luke gestured to indicate he was fine and asked back, "How are things on your end?"

David shouted, "I caught two drug dealers, one of them was shot dead, only one is left alive.

This gang is fierce, one officer was hit by stray bullets in the arm, another was struck in the bulletproof vest, probably broke a rib."

Luke's hearing had recovered somewhat, he said, "Hand me the one who's alive, we'll send him over after the interrogation."

"Let's interrogate together, I also want to know why they killed Harry."

"Who's handling the scene then? Somebody's gotta take care of the aftermath."

David sighed in resignation, "Okay, take the guy back. I'll deal with this here."

"See you later." Luke called out, then ordered Port beside him, "Get that bastard into the car."

"Yes, sir."

...

Luke quickly wiped off the blood from his body, laid down plastic sheets on the seat, and drove back to the detective bureau.

Upon returning to the police station, Luke headed straight to the gym to wash up, changed into clean clothes, and drank a cup of coffee to calm his nerves.

Today's capture operation was extremely dangerous, Reid brought dinner as consolation—all vegetarian, very thoughtful.

If it were an ordinary day, seeing vegetarian food, Luke would certainly be dismissive, but today...he found it quite tasty.

New criminal evidence was also sent over from David's side.

After eating, Luke went directly into the interrogation room to question the drug dealer.

The drug dealer was a young white male, looking like in his twenties.

Luke sized him up, "What's your name?"

The white male glanced at Luke, "Calvin Pinendo."

Luke placed several photos on the table—white powdered drugs and bundles of green cash.

Luke pointed at the photo of the white powder, "Where did these drugs come from?"

Calvin Pinendo shook his head, "I don't know, I'm just a minor player."

From the other's response, Luke could tell he was trying to dodge responsibility, the other two drug dealers were already dead, as long as he shifted the blame onto them, he could receive a lighter sentence.
