Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 472: It's Him

"Ring ring ring..."

In the morning, Luke had just finished washing up and was about to head out when his phone suddenly rang.

He pressed the answer button and said, "Mom, is there something you need?"

Linda's voice came from the phone, "Have you been busy with work lately?"

"Same as usual."

Yesterday afternoon, the police discovered Danielle Winter's body, and the related evidence had been sent for analysis. Little William Moses is a major suspect, and the police have already issued a warrant for him.

Whether Little William Moses is indeed the true killer of Danielle Winters will depend on today's analysis results.

"Your grandfather invited everyone for a dinner this Sunday, do you have time?"

Luke glanced at the date on his watch, "Shouldn't be a problem."

"OK, take care of yourself, and remember to eat."

"I love you, Mom."

"I love you too."

Luke hung up the phone and drove to the detective bureau.

After arriving at the detective bureau, he didn't return to his office but instead went to the tech team.

The analysis results of the evidence could significantly affect the direction of the whole case.

Luke waited for over half an hour to get the analysis results, which was already very fast. If it were another department, it might even take several days.

Back in the office, Luke gathered everyone for a meeting, "Guys, the tech team's analysis results are out."

Blackie got straight to the point, "Is it Little William Moses?"

Luke didn't answer immediately. Instead, he took out the handcuff analysis report found in the pit with the body.

The handcuffs had the DNA of two people on them. Little William Moses's DNA was found on the cuffs.

Danielle Winter's DNA was found on the chain.

Luke also took out photos of Danielle Winter's body, pointing to the strangulation marks on the neck, "The marks match the shape of the handcuff chain. We can basically determine that Danielle Winter was strangled to death with the handcuffs.

And according to the analysis, the killer should be Little William Moses.

Our assumption was correct.

The only thing left to determine now is the whereabouts of Little William Moses."

After speaking, Luke glanced around, "Where's the deputy?"

"I haven't seen him today, thought he might be taking a day off," Matthew shrugged. He usually spent the most time with the deputy, often cooped up in the office together.

...

Martins Community, No. 307.

It was a white two-story house, quite elegant, and seemed cozy.

An old man with white hair walked into the yard, stepping on the stone path to the front door and pressed the doorbell, but it didn't ring, likely broken.

"Knock knock." The deputy knocked on the door.

There was no response inside.

"Knock knock..." The deputy knocked again.

Faint sounds were heard from inside, the door opened, and a man in his sixties in a wheelchair sat there, "Who are you looking for?"

The deputy sized up the man, focusing on his legs, a bit surprised, "Mr. McGraw Ray?"

"That's me, who are you? I don't think I know you."

The deputy showed his badge, "Deputy leader of Squad One, Robbery and Murder Department, Vincent Sis."

McGraw Ray was momentarily stunned, frowning, "Robbery and Murder Department? What do you want with me? Did someone call to report that I was murdered?"

"No, I wanted to learn more about your daughter's car accident case. Sorry to bring up these painful memories again."

McGraw Ray's cheek twitched, his voice cold, "If you feel sorry, why mention it?"

The deputy pointed inside the house, "Could we talk inside?"

"Give me a reason. I can't think of anything worth discussing between us."

The deputy got straight to the point, "The driver in the car accident, Danielle Winter, is dead."

"Are you serious?"

"Yes."

McGraw Ray moved his wheelchair to the side, "Come in."

The deputy entered the house, looking around at the decoration. It was quite clean, and a pot of pink flowers blooming on the coffee table with a faint fragrance.

"Is this Jasmine? Very beautiful!"

"Yes, it was my daughter's favorite flower," McGraw Ray's voice was filled with remembrance, "Would you like something to drink?"

The deputy looked at his wheelchair and waved it off, "I'm not very thirsty, no need, thanks."

"Then have some champagne."

McGraw Ray wheeled himself inside and came back with a bottle of champagne. Moving his wheelchair to the coffee table, he gazed at the champagne in his hand, "This is a good bottle, I thought it would go with me into the grave."

The deputy wasn't a rigid person, knowing he needed to play along to gather information and clues, "Where are the glasses? I'll get them."

"You're right; there's a specific glass for champagne. They're in the cupboard above the kitchen. I haven't used them in a long time; you might want to rinse them, thanks."

"I will." The deputy stood up and went to the kitchen, took out two champagne glasses and gave them a quick rinse.

McGraw Ray opened the champagne, poured two glasses, took one himself, and gestured for toasting, "Cheers."

The deputy also raised his glass, "Technically, we're not allowed to drink on duty, you won't report me, right?"

"Haha... I did think about it, I'd wheel myself to your station, remember to send me your location," McGraw Ray laughed.

Seeing Vincent Sis staring at him, McGraw Ray touched his cheek, "Sorry, it's been a long time since I laughed, hope I didn't scare you."
