Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 360 Carlos

Luke asked, "What's your full name?"

"Kuka Saldana."

"Did I get that right just now?"

Kuka Saldana looked down and remained silent.

Luke continued, "We've captured two of your subordinates, even if you don't confess, they will identify you.

Just the crimes of planting bombs and kidnapping are enough to get you the death penalty.

If you're labeled a 'terrorist,' your relatives will also be implicated and deported.

Is this the consequence you want?"

Kuka Saldana argued, "I didn't plant any bombs, and Natasha's death has nothing to do with me."

"It's hard to believe your words."

"I'm telling the truth."

"Okay, then let's talk about something related to you. If you agree to cooperate with the police, I can consider offering you a favorable plea deal."

Kuka Saldana paused for a moment, "We kidnapped the female journalist."

"What's the name of the female journalist?"

"Pari Jones."

"Where is she now?"

"In a house at 109 Akali community."

"Whose house is that?"

"It's rented by me."

"Besides Pari Jones, who else is in the house?"

"One of my men is in charge of guarding her."

"What weapons does the guard have?"

"A pistol."

"Where in the house is Pari Jones being held?"

"In the guest bedroom on the east side."

"How is Pari Jones doing right now?"

"She won't die. We won't kill her until we get the documents."

Luke said to Port beside him, "Give the address to Marcus and have him send a team to rescue Pari Jones."

"Yes, sir."

Luke looked at Kuka Saldana and continued asking, "What do you know about Natasha's death?"

"Like I said, her death has nothing to do with me. I completely don't know."

"Have you or your subordinates ever been to Natasha's house?"

"No."

"Have you or your subordinates intercepted police cars driving a red sedan?"

"No."

"Do you know about this?"

"I don't know."

"Come on, tell me something about Natasha."

"I really don't know."

"Then why did you kidnap Pari Jones after Natasha was killed?"

"I was instructed by someone else."

"Who?"

"Carlos."

"Full name?"

"I don't know."

"How did Carlos contact you?"

"Email."

"What did the email say?"

"He said Natasha is dead, get the documents from Pari Jones."

"What documents?"

"Natasha and Pari Jones were investigating smuggling, any documents related to smuggling, we had to take."

Port handed over a phone, "Captain, this was found on him."

Luke took the phone and asked, "Password?"

"631289"

Luke unlocked the phone, opened his email, and found two recent emails. One was from last night at nine o'clock, the content was, 'Natasha is dead, find Pari Jones, get the documents from her.'

At three in the morning, Kuka Saldana replied an email, 'Caught Pari Jones, but did not find the documents.'

The second one was sent this morning, 'Christian is in room 509 at Wilkie Hospital, find him as soon as possible.'

From the content of the emails, this person named 'Carlos' seems to know a lot about Natasha's situation, possibly the mastermind.

Luke said, "Tell me about Carlos."

"I don't know much about him either; he is very secretive."

"Where is he?"

"I don't know."

Luke kept staring at him, shook his finger, "Don't play tricks with me; I know you know."

"He's in Los Angeles."

"Specific location."

"I only know he's in Los Angeles, exactly where he's hiding I really don't know, I swear."

"Have you heard of 'Bosta'?"

Kuka Saldana's face changed slightly, and he answered firmly, "No."

Luke saw a trace of lying on his face and continued, "Are you a member of this organization?"

Kuka Saldana looked distressed, "Sir, I'm willing to cooperate with you, and I'm willing to confess what I've done, but it does not include the word 'Bosta.' I will not answer any questions about these three words."

In fact, his answer was already a response.

Luke said, "There are no others here, I will keep your words confidential."

"No," Kuka Saldana was very firm.

Luke knew it was hard to make such a person betray his organization and changed the topic, "Let's talk about Carlos; is he your boss?"

"Yes.

If you want to know more, go find him, I really only know this much," Kuka Saldana spread his hands.

Luke looked somewhat helpless. Investigating organized crime like this was immensely challenging, like dismantling Russian nesting dolls, never knowing if there's another layer.

Luke calmed down, pondered for a moment, "Did Carlos mention this operation to you before?"

"No."

Luke had checked the emails; they were sent last night at nine, indicating they were unprepared before Natasha was killed.

Assuming that delivering bombs, intercepting police cars, stealing from Natasha's home, and kidnapping Pari Jones were all orchestrated by the same mastermind, then the planning should have been tight.

However, this operation was clearly not tight, rather hasty, almost as if they were trying to make up for something gone wrong. Luke guessed that this series of actions might not be by the same group.
