Chapter 549: Disgusting Fish

Although they had only teamed up for one night, Weiser's abilities had already been recognized by everyone.

Other things aside, just the fact that she was always the first to guess the word suffixes meant she contributed more to the team than the Observer. Not to mention, she had the adaptable Thousand Mechanism Technique Spirit and a multitude of Magic Factions, which allowed her to deal with just about any special situation.

In the sixth Dream Bubble Shadow, if it weren't for her spontaneously changing Wind Skill and Sound Technique, Ash and the others wouldn't have been able to clear it.

Even without big data statistics, Mages from the three major Mysterious Factions were generally considered to be better at complex planning.

There were no fools among Mages, only different kinds of smart: tactical ingenuity, innovation, quick mastery… Although Sonia was good at interpersonal manipulation and scheming within the rules of civilization, what Ash was now playing was the law of the jungle hunt.

Weiser glanced at them, still hesitating in her heart.

From the moment Ash pulled her into the Void Realm, she had been pondering how exactly to deal with this group of pursuers.

Undoubtedly, in a situation where the enemy was in the light and she in the dark, even if the Sword Maiden had not asked, she could steal Ash's real-world plans through conversation, thereby naturally securing an invincible position.

The question was, what kind of benefit did she really want to achieve—was it enough just not to be captured by Ash and the others?

In tonight's Void Realm Exploration, although she had shone brightly and turned the tide, breaking through six Dream Bubble Shadows with her indispensable contribution, Weiser knew that without the protection of Ash and the others, she wouldn't have even cleared the first bubble.

Her combat system had been eliminated in this version of the Distant Realm: she used to send out Substitutes to probe the characteristics of the Void Realm creatures and pinpoint weaknesses for targeted strikes. This tactic worked well in the first and second levels of the Void Realm because the creatures had a sense of territory, allowing her to gather enough information from a safe zone.

But in the Dream Bubble Shadows, there simply was no safe zone.

That is to say, unless she could identify weaknesses on first sight, she struggled to retaliate in any battle she triggered and could only take hits—she possessed no strong Miracles and had to rely on exploiting weaknesses to harm creatures of the third level of the Void Realm.

Moreover, Weiser was not naturally combat-oriented.

In reality, she relied on illusion and the power of Great Skills, rarely engaging in direct confrontation.

It could be said that Ash and his team could explore the Void Realm without her, albeit at a slower pace; but if she were without this team, she'd struggle to move forward at all.

Besides, Weiser also realized the tremendous value of the Dream Treasury—it was not only an aid to the exploration of the Void Realm but also the prize of the word suffix bubbles!

While word suffix Technique Spirits were much more valuable than ordinary ones, due to their randomness, Mages had difficulty acquiring ones that suited them and had to trade through the market. This was where the power of the Dream Treasury lay: a Mage could equip a collection suited to them and then had a chance to extract it from the word suffix bubbles!

She was very satisfied with her Spiritual Light Technique Spirit, a rare one that blended Light Magic, Spirit Mage abilities, and Truth, perfectly becoming the power of the Silver Lamp. If she wanted to obtain a Technique Spirit from the Distant Realm that could radically enhance her Combat Power, the best method was to equip the right collection every night!

The problem was that Ash's favoritism was too obvious.

Useless Technique Spirits were given to the Sword Maiden, and the newly obtained Mage's Handbooks were first given to the Witch; Weiser found it difficult to even gain a sip of the soup.

Truly valuable collections, unless the Sword Witch couldn't use them, never came her way.

That was to be expected, as they were long-standing team members with deeper Bonds to Ash. Weiser also sensed some emotional entanglements; were it not for her sudden joining of the team, this powder keg might have already exploded.

To gain a bias in resources, she needed to increase her status in Ash's eyes, either by building a closer relationship or by enhancing her own value.

Going for the emotional angle was not out of the question, but Weiser was certain she would be pushed out by the Sword Witch first—fortunately, she had chosen this demure and vulnerable, harmless little animal demeanor, and most importantly, she didn't appear as pretty as them, otherwise, they wouldn't have accepted her as quickly as they had.

Therefore, Weiser could only focus on the value route.

In fact, there was another option, and that was to capture Ash, lock him in a dark room, extract all benefits from him, and then end him with one strike. This way, she could become the ultimate tactile Observer and take over the Four Pillars God Sect, returning to the original plan which had the highest success rate.

However, first, Weiser did not currently have a base, nor a place to imprison Ash; and secondly, Ash had already constructed his Holy Domain, meaning even if she used the power of Great Skills, she might not be able to capture him.

Besides, Ash had companions, and he was confident they would rescue him. He would undoubtedly not be threatened by Weiser, unless...

Weiser lowered her eyelids, speaking calmly, "Observer, tell me all the information you have, in as much detail as possible, so that I can analyze the viable action plans you can use."

Ash nodded, sharing the information that Weiser already knew. During this time, Weiser also clarified the current situation for herself and summarized two key points:

1) She could not be captured, which was the premise of everything.

2) She needed to ingratiate herself with the Observer, and preferably the Sword Witch as well. Assisting in the Observer's real-world actions would undoubtedly earn her the good graces of the three people, and improve her standing in the team.

At first glance, these two goals seemed contradictory: Ash's current goal was to capture her, but she didn't want to be captured. It was like a game of cops and robbers, where only one side could achieve their aim.

But are things ever truly black-and-white?

Weiser quickly came up with an idea.

She had to be extremely cautious because Ash might be rather naive, but he had a Spirit Mage by his side, which meant that if she tried to harm Ash even once, the Spirit Mage would let him know that there was a traitor among them.

But it was precisely the presence of the Spirit Mage that could fill the gap in her plan. Ash might not be able to see it, but that cunning man would definitely be able to grasp the dirty deals hidden beneath the words.

When Ash finished speaking, Weiser asked, "I have a few questions—you're cursed by the Blood Seed, but you can replenish the loss of life by consuming high-energy foods and Life Miracles, right?"

"Yeah, but high-energy food is rare in the Land of Senluo, and if it weren't for the sustenance provided by the Four Pillars God Sect, we wouldn't have any way to obtain it," Ash said helplessly. He hadn't imagined that one day he would have to worry about food—he had never suffered such an indignity at Shattered Lake Prison!

Weiser asked again, "Is the attitude of the Qinri Alliance toward you guys really that bad?"

Ash nodded, "To be precise, the attitude of believers is pretty bad toward anyone who isn't from their faction."

Weiser: "Can you host any Great Skill with a hundred percent certainty?"

"Although I've never tried it, there shouldn't be a problem."

"After you hosted the Tribulation Fire Technique, did the attitude of the Holy Temple of tribulation change toward you?"

Ash thought for a moment, "They were already very respectful because I was the First Gospel, but after I hosted, their respect turned outright into adoration."

Weiser activated her Spiritual Light Technique Spirit and, after a moment of contemplation, revealed her plan, concluding with, "This is just an action plan I've come up with based on the information you've given me. You can discuss it with your companions to see if it's feasible."

Ash nodded, looked around, and said, "So should we finish for tonight?"

The Sword Witch and others all showed an expression of having more to say but stopping short. Weiser, with her gold and silver wings fanned out, moved away, "I'm going back first."

Looking at the two remaining, Ash asked, "Is there anything else you want to talk to me about?"

There was too much.

Although they each had a lot on their minds, neither wanted to speak in front of the other, and as for saying something like "Ash, let me talk to you alone and let her leave first," neither could bring themselves to say it, mainly because they knew the other person would never step aside, leading to an inevitable standoff.

"I'm going to take a bath…" Ash started to say.

"Wait!" the others interjected.

"If you want to sit here with me and do nothing, that's fine too," Ash said, spreading his hands. "Or is it that you know I've prepared gifts?"

"Gifts?" Both Sonia and Diya's eyes lit up, and even Weiser, who had been ready to leave, couldn't help but look back.

"But I can't give them to you now."

"Why!?" they demanded.

Ash hesitated for a moment, "I dare not give them unless we're alone... and it's nothing valuable. Maybe I won't give it at all; you shouldn't mind it. I'm definitely not giving it out today, so you don't have to go away!"

The Sword Witch and others exchanged silent glances, and beyond the mutual annoyance, a strong curiosity emerged—what kind of gift was the Observer hiding that he dared not present in public?

This diversion lessened their urge to confide. Diya glanced at Sonia before flying up to hug Ash, asking, "Can I pat you on the head?"

Ash was slightly taken aback but smiled and tousled her hair, "Witch, why are you acting like a child and being clingy with me... Have you missed me that much after just a few days?"

"Mhm," the little witch, the princess, the white queen, the Black Butler, the Red Death Cultist whispered softly in a nasal tone, "A lot."

Having said that, the Witch let go of him, not leaving, but floating there and staring at the Sword Maiden. Ash turned to the latter and raised his eyebrows, "Are you going to show off about your championship journey now?"

"I'll tell you when you give me my gift."

"So…"

"A few days ago, at the school cafeteria," Sonia said, looking at him, "I ate a terribly nasty fish."

Ash blinked, "How nasty?"

"So nasty it was practically a waste of the fish," Sonia said indignantly, recalling the fish, "I almost wanted to complain to the cafeteria."

"Ah—" Ash's mouth curved in a half-smile, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
