Chapter 664: The Sword Maiden the Witch and Weiser

Four-winged Dream-Chasing Technique Spirit.

Four-winged Soul-Hooking Technique Spirit.

Four-winged Heart-Engraving Technique Spirit.

In the underground hall, Sonia, Diya, and Weiser released their magic, bringing these six four-winged Technique Spirits under their control.

Without a doubt, these four-winged Technique Spirits are rare treasures, like the Soul-Hooking Technique Spirit, which can hook out the soul of a Legendary Mage if unnoticed, and then by merely destroying his body, he would vanish into nothingness.

The Dream-Chasing Technique Spirit is even more so the artistic crystallization of the Dream faction, able to be paired with any Dream Technique Spirit. For example, one could first use a Dream Technique Spirit on a lala fat, then use Dream-Chasing on any target, and the target would change its course to chase the lala fat in its dream.

If Dream-Chasing is used on a Miracle, it could even forcibly change the target of the Miracle to the lala fat in its dream!

These six Technique Spirits are so powerful that if obtained, they would be rare treasures worth a Legendary Mage changing their magic faction for!

Though Sonia and the other two could use these six Technique Spirits, they could also clearly feel that they did not have ownership of them. If the Nightmare wished, these Technique Spirits could escape from their souls at any moment.

Among the three, only Sonia had experience renting Technique Spirits.

After all, the environment in the Senluo Wasteland is terrible, not to mention renting Technique Spirits, even the platforms for buying and selling Technique Spirits are in a primitive state. Half of Weiser's Technique Spirits are self-summoned, and the other half are spoils from attacking factions, not even bought; the Kingdom of Gospel does have a platform for renting Technique Spirits, but Diya was either in a state where she couldn't access Technique Spirit transactions due to being detained, or she was in a state where she could do as she pleased as an Empress and naturally did not need to rent Technique Spirits.

Only the Kingdom of Stars has a mature rental service, and Sonia just happens to be a core user of the rental service.

When she participated in the Meteor Disaster, for instance, she borrowed several crucial Technique Spirits from Professor Trozan. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to unleash the 'Hidden Hand Blade.' When she returned the Technique Spirits to the professor, she has still not assembled a full set of Technique Spirits required for the 'Hidden Hand Blade'; she can only perform the basic version of this Miracle.

In the Kingdom of Stars, renting Technique Spirits and buying and selling Technique Spirits are actually two sides of the same coin.

If you find it useful, renting would turn into a purchasing intention;

If it is just for emergencies, buying is certainly not as good as renting.

Especially for Holy Sanctuary Mages, their situation of renting Technique Spirits is particularly frequent. After all, Holy Sanctuary Mages will start developing new Miracles, and at this time, they often need to refer to the effects of other Technique Spirits. Direct purchase would not only be expensive but also scarce in the market— as the number of wings increases, ordinary Technique Spirits also become rare, and if you cannot buy them, you just cannot buy them.

Thus, short-term rental services were created, even becoming the most important social exchange among Holy Sanctuary Mages. Like Professor Trozan, she dares to be so sharp-tongued partly because of her strength, and partly because she owns many rare Technique Spirits and is willing to lend them out. Many in the Holy Domain would have times when they seek her help, and everyone is willing to flatter her, so she certainly doesn't need to improve her emotional intelligence.

Moreover, impressions can be transformative. Many people have a poor first impression of Trozan, thinking she looks plain and somewhat slovenly, but when Trozan magnificently and generously extends her hand, they all think she is actually a successful woman with a cold exterior but a warm interior.

Even Sonia could not escape this fate; now she has such a good relationship with Trozan because Trozan genuinely treats her well!

Besides, renting is one of the important channels for trading, and most Holy Sanctuary Mages will rent for a while before purchasing Technique Spirits to see the effect. Sonia currently has several three-winged Technique Spirits listed on the rental and sale platform, which are expected to take one to three months to sell.

However, there is significant risk involved in renting Technique Spirits.

If the renter dies in the Void Realm, the Technique Spirit might be lost. Even if the renter is willing to compensate, once the Technique Spirit is gone, it's truly gone.

Moreover, even though the renter only has usage rights, if they wish, they could directly kill the Technique Spirit.

This means that Sonia and the other two could directly kill the four-winged Technique Spirits in their hands, rendering "Dreams Come True" unable to activate, and the Nightmare Inheritance would be destroyed.

Yet they quietly stashed away the Technique Spirits, with only Diya unable to resist asking, "Do we really have to kill to take the spirits?"

Not only Diya, but the other witch sisters also felt uneasy about this, even the darkest-hearted Black Butler hugged the White Queen nervously.

In fact, the witches' moral values are very weak, as virtues like kindness, responsibility, and hope, are all reserved for the Sleeping Beauty. The witch sisters derived from Princess Diya are all survival-oriented personalities that love only themselves.

Diya herself also went through many darkening moments, such as being captured by Hanna, the Red Death Cultist's suicide, and the separation at the Imperial Palace. Though Princess Diya has decent psychological resilience, the White Queen's mentality can easily collapse, and if the White Queen collapses, the Black Butler would follow, bringing down Diya as well—that's the cost she pays for escaping loneliness.

The Sleeping Beauty is a Princess Yisu made of love, candy, and beautiful things, but the witches are different. They are the escapees of the Gospel formed from survival, evasion, and any means necessary.

Yet, in the All-Knowing Heavenly Kingdom, facing what might be the only wish opportunity in her life, Diya sacrificed her desires for the stability of the Kingdom of Gospel and willingly became the Empress bound by many constraints.

Yes, although the witches were not born with virtues like kindness, responsibility, and hope, Ash set an example and taught these surplus things to them.

So, faced with what is about to happen, the witches are filled with unease and anxiety.

"Give me the Technique Spirits," Weiser extended her hand, "I can complete the Miracle Technique of 'Dreams Come True' alone."

"You alone?" Sonia looked at her.

"This kind of thing was never meant for three people to execute," Weiser said calmly, "Now we are all under the curse of the Nightmare, and the Observer is even held as a hostage by it. We have no choice but to harm others to survive."

"In fact, the majority of mages encountering a Miracle Technique like 'Dreams Come True' would be overjoyed, not hesitantly resist like you. Yes, 'Dreams Come True' does require killing, but for mages on their journey, not killing is rare, and those who reach the Holy Domain level have long crossed the life-and-death interrogation of moral laws. Fate, environment, stance, good and evil... willing or forced, we are already hunters and prey wandering in the forest."

"Moreover, what is being killed are mages they don't know, possibly not even from the same nation, so most people would have no psychological burden."

"It's just that the Observer protected you too well, but it's the same the other way around," Weiser said softly, "So none of you are suited for this kind of thing."

Diya dumbly asked, "Then, Weiser, are you suited for it?"

"At least more suited than you," Weiser said, "And besides, I am good at this kind of thing too."

"Don't look at me like this, I am actually older than you, and though I may not have as much adventurous experience as you, I have likely seen more scenes of bloodshed, slaughter, and death than you. To put it more bluntly—"

Weiser looked at her palm and said calmly, "I am already accustomed to destroying life."

"Of course, your lack of experience with it is not a fault, and my experience has no superiority. It's just that our different life experiences have led to slight differences in our perspectives."

"I previously suggested having the Observer stay because I saw that he wanted to bear this responsibility voluntarily, to protect you from killings. But you don't actually need to force yourselves over this incident, just like when we explored the ghost inheritance, everyone had their duties."

"Now is my time to fulfill the duties for the team," Weiser said, "Give me the Technique Spirits."

Diya blinked and, after hesitating for a while, handed over the Technique Spirit.

But as Weiser reached out to take it, her wrist was tightly clasped.

"Done talking?"

Sonia stared at Weiser, her ruby eyes displaying naked dissatisfaction, "Arranging things presumptuously, condescendingly flaunting experience, emotionally sacrificing... Yooran Weiser, do you still consider yourself a member of this team?"

"Of course," Weiser was a bit surprised, "I didn't—"

"Then, who was the earliest member of the team? The person the leader trusts the most? And who knows the leader's thoughts the best?"

"When the Observer isn't here," the Red-haired Sword Maiden said seriously, one word at a time, "the team is commanded by me."
