Chapter 690: Return (Part 3)

Thirty seconds later, their consciousness reconnected with their bodies and began to return to reality.

But unlike returning from the Void Realm to reality, this time it seemed to encounter some resistance, as if they were swimming underwater in the Deep Sea, moving a bit slowly...

In the distant Darkness, Ash and the others seemed to sense a gray path appearing in front of them, with dozens of branching routes. They were acutely aware that if they stepped onto it, they would be completely lost!

Wonder · The Lost Road.

At the same time, a blood-colored mist drifted from behind. This mist took on the appearance of canine teeth, looking grotesque and sickening, just realizing its presence felt like being bitten and having a piece of flesh torn off!

Wonder · Fang Smoke.

Ultimately, the Divine Lord was not willing to concede and let these mere mortals of Mages inherit the Heavenly Kingdom of Thousand Wishes, instead ambushing them on their way back to reality! These Wonders wouldn't take their lives, but they would definitely control them!

However, Ash and the others could do nothing! Let alone resist, even thinking was extremely difficult at this moment!

Being caught between illusion and reality is the most dangerous time for Mages!

They could only watch as the Wonder descended, paying the price for their unworthy ambitions—

"Huh?"

"Isn't it almost dead...?"

"Interesting."

"You dare—"

A rustling sound reached Ash and the others' ears, then they saw in the gray path and blood smoke that suddenly dark green grass began to grow! This grass looked weak but firmly absorbed the energies of both Wonders, rapidly growing as the Wonders quickly diminished!

The gray path dissipated, and the blood smoke dissolved!

Wonder · Death-Counting Grass!

Just as they were about to escape from danger, someone seemed dissatisfied, making the blood smoke swell and transform into a giant canine tooth viciously biting Ash and the others!

It was like being bitten by a dog, with excruciating pain spreading throughout the body!

Ash suddenly sat up, gasping heavily, as if he had just woken from a nightmare.

But the numbness in his right hand told him that everything that happened in the distant Darkness wasn't fake!

Two shameless Divine Lords attacked them!

Yet, for some reason, one Divine Lord righteously helped them once!

Who would have thought that in the world of Mages, filled with materialism and callousness, there would still be such a warm Divine Lord!

But Ash and the others weren't unscathed, their souls severely damaged, who knew how long it would take to recover.

Suddenly, a warm towel gently wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. Ash looked up to find Black Crow sitting by his bed.

Before he could ask, Black Crow's distorted voice rang out first: "You've been asleep for three days and two nights."

Ash couldn't help but feel a sense of time displacement, though it was only three days and two nights, it felt like thirty chapters of a major plot had passed.

"Thank you for looking after me all this time."

"How do you know I've been looking after you all along? Maybe I just got here."

"But my pants wouldn't change themselves, would they?"

"Couldn't it be—"

"It couldn't." Ash laughed, "I guess Igula must have asked you. Harvey could guard my life, but if Igula dared to entrust my care to him, he'd treat me like a corpse to be dealt with... If there were no one else, it should have been Igula watching over me, but since you're here, he'd surely feel comfortable entrusting me to you. Actually, he trusts you a lot."

"Saying good things about him won't work on me." Black Crow said.

Ash shrugged, "Call Igula over for me."

"I informed him when you woke up, but he's outside now, it'll take a while for him to return." Black Crow said, "The person you trust the most, is it really the Swindler?"

"No, this time it's because I want to show off something to him." Ash said mysteriously, "I now possess the ability he has always dreamed of!"

Black Crow asked curiously, "What ability?"

"The ability to say anything and have others believe it!" Ash said excitedly, "Isn't it amazing? I can't wait to see Igula's jealous expression!"

Upon seeing the effect of the "Minstrel's Words", Ash's first thought was of Igula!

If Igula had this Blessing, it would be a killer move! But it landed in my hands, this is what you'd call a top-level instrument in the hands of a student!

"Very impressive." Black Crow said, "But it's not very significant for you."

"What?" Ash asked curiously, "Is it because I don't lie much?"

"It's because you already have this ability."

Black Crow suddenly turned to look at the door: "He's back, very fast."

However, it took a full ten seconds before the door was pushed open. The Swindler walked into the room nonchalantly, looking flawless. He glanced at Ash and said calmly to Black Crow, "Don't call me back for nothing, if there's something, directly call Harvey to handle the body, understood?"

"Igula."

Ash said weakly, "I'm dying."

Igula was stunned, he closed his eyes in silence for a moment, then slowly opened them, and his words came out like icy blades: "If you want to lie to a Swindler, I'll make sure you die beautifully."

Ash turned to Black Crow, looking confused, "I feel like this ability of mine isn't very useful..."

Black Crow silently looked at him for a while before slowly speaking:

"Were you just lying?"
