Withdrawing her gaze from afar, Charlotte once again turned to look at the image of the basement blood sacrifice incident in the mirror beside her.
In the image, the scene had progressed to where she had used the Divine Technique Counter to successfully retaliate and kill her attacker.
Looking beyond the mirror into the darkness and the "stars" at the end of that darkness, Charlotte appeared to be deep in thought.
"If this galaxy were the River of Time... then this darkness should represent the thousand years when the 'Blood True Ancestor' disappeared."
"What I need to reach is even further away..."
After a moment of contemplation, she continued to take steps forward.
This step, Charlotte's movements were much more strained.
That feeling, as though her soul was being stripped away, descended upon her once again, and Charlotte felt as if she had entered a space of high density, with tremendous pressure surrounding her, making everything seem to reject her advancement.
Charlotte gritted her teeth; she circulated her Blood Divine Power, straining with all her might to take a step, and with her efforts, she finally managed to move forward.
The still clock began to move once more, and this time, at an unprecedented speed.
As Charlotte took steps forward, the hands on the clock seemed to spin out of control, whirling backwards wildly.
One step, yet it felt like an eternity had been crossed.
Charlotte perceived everything around her quickly receding into the distance; in the midst of the darkness, she thought she saw countless shattered shards of mirrors flitting by, dim and indistinguishable, almost one with the darkness, showing nothing but void within the broken reflections.
Her soul rapidly draining away, Charlotte's movements slowed even more, and as she labored to take another step, she had already "stepped" across the entire void, arriving on the other side of the "galaxy."
Countless mirrors appeared once again around Charlotte, forming into a ribbon.
Within them, the majority of the mirrors were dim, but a portion of them was bright.
Charlotte looked over and found the fragments within those bright mirrors all too familiar – they were her experiences from her two times crossing through history.
Those two mirrors that gave her a strong sense of closeness and familiarity were from her first crossing to the Northern Border and the fragments when she fell amidst the battle between the Free City State Alliance and the Evil God believers during her second crossing.
As for the dim mirrors, they were situated between and after the two sequences of bright reflections.
Charlotte cast a look and quickly realized that these represented the history after her "departure."
Between the two sequences of bright mirrors were fragments likely representing the 14 years between her first and second crossing.
Through the images in the mirrors, Charlotte saw the resistance of Lilith and Haral, their overthrowing of the Tower, their establishment of a city-state, their betrayal, and their battles with the Old Gods.
Until... Charlotte's figure appeared again in the second sequence of bright mirrors.
At the end of the second sequence of bright mirrors, Lilith is shown dying, Charlotte resurrecting her with the First Embrace, then departing from the old timeline.
Thinking for a moment, Charlotte turned and began to walk towards the dim mirrors behind the second set of bright reflections.
Still a challenge, but a bit easier than before.
The clock beneath Charlotte's feet moved again, this time... in the forward direction.
Charlotte quickly reached the end of the second series of bright mirrors, and clearly saw those dim mirrors that followed.
These must be the history following her second departure.
In those mirrors, she saw Lilith bestow Bloodline Power onto the mutated soldiers of the Free City States, transforming them into second-generation Bloodline.
She saw the God of Hatred and Deformation escape amid the chaos, throwing harsh words at the Free City States.
She saw the Bloodline increase in number, the military strength of the Free City States growing, she saw Lilith leading armies, gradually driving back the rebels who worshiped the Old Gods.
She saw the Free City State Alliance reclaiming lost territory, she witnessed, as time passed, Lilith's power grow ever stronger.
She beheld within the mirror, a crimson radiance piercing the heavens, the intense heat of Divine Fire ignited from the darkness.
That was Lilith ascending to Demigod.
However, when Charlotte looked at the dim mirrors following Lilith's ascension to Demigod, she was taken aback.
In those mirrors... she could no longer clearly see Lilith's features.
As if separated by some force, she could only identify Lilith by the crimson Divine Power and the silver hair.
She saw the downfall of the Old Gods, she saw Lilith engage in God War with them, she saw the reappearance of the God of Hatred and Deformation, she saw Lilith unleash her Divine Power and personally slay it...
At this point, the dim mirror came to an end.
Beyond that was a deep, profound darkness.
Within the darkness, one could faintly make out shattered mirrors extending into the distant future, connected to the era where Charlotte found herself.
These mirrors were even dimmer, almost blending into the darkness, and not a single image could be seen within the shattered fragments.
At the boundary between these shattered mirrors and the dim mirrors with images, there was a special mirror, flickering with a faint light, bringing to Charlotte a strong sense of summons.
Unlike the other mirrors, this one was situated at the endpoint of the dim mirrors and the starting point of the shattered mirrors.
It, too, had no image, but it shone with a strange light, its surface not quite like a mirror but more like a segment of light and shadow that could be crossed.
Charlotte's heart stirred slightly as she vaguely realized this must be the temporal node through which she could cross this time.
"So, those dim mirror images are the history that unfolded after I departed, whereas the shattered mirrors represent the history that never occurred or, perhaps, encountered some problem. And now, what I need to do is to enter the crevice between them and commence a new round of 'correction,' right?"
Charlotte muttered to herself.
Thinking this, Charlotte took a deep breath and reached out her hand toward that "special" mirror.
As her right hand touched the mirror, ripples spread out like those on the surface of water. Charlotte felt a strong suction force emanating from the mirror, pulling her in.
Amidst the distant toll of a bell, a crimson light engulfed the whole world, and Charlotte lost consciousness...
...
"Chirp chirp, chirp chirp..."
The cheerful chirping of birds woke Charlotte from her slumber.
She slowly opened her eyes, and what she saw was an unfamiliar ceiling.
It seemed to be inside a castle, with wall carvings exhibiting a distinct Elf style, and she lay on what could barely be considered a soft, large bed.
The bedding felt quite coarse, or rather... the craftsmanship was rather "ancient."
As consciousness resurged, memories returned as well, and Charlotte felt a stirring in her heart, quickly sitting up:
"I... have I crossed successfully?"
As the words left her mouth, she felt something amiss.
It was still her own voice, but it sounded a bit different from how she usually spoke.
It had more of a commanding tone and less of a girlish lilt.
And as Charlotte sat up, she distinctly felt a weight on her shoulders. Glancing down, she saw the perfectly shaped round and snow-white mounds on her chest.
Charlotte: ...
She got up from the bed, casually took a black robe from a nearby clothes rack and put it on, then went over to a crystal mirror not far away.
In the mirror, what reflected back was not her familiar girlish form but the adult appearance she assumed when she unleashed her Divine Power.
Charlotte frowned slightly.
How to put it, perhaps she had become so accustomed to her youthful form that now, having transformed into her adult form after crossing, she felt quite unaccustomed.
So the question was, why did she appear in her adult form for this crossing?
She had not unleashed her Divine Power, after all.
Yet, the robe she'd picked up fitted quite well, as if it were tailored for her current physique.
Setting aside the confusion in her heart, Charlotte dressed and pushed open the door to the room.
Outside the room was a corridor.
Charlotte walked through the corridor to the castle's main gate. There, two fully armed soldiers stood guard, one on each side.
Seeing Charlotte, they immediately snapped to attention, their faces full of worship as they respectfully saluted:
"Good morning, Lady Lilith!"
Charlotte: ...?
