Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 1545: Sky Patriarch

This blade strike was unbelievably fast!

When he realized the strike was aimed directly at him, even with his cultivation nearing the ancestral realm, it was already too late to react. He never would have imagined that Chu Mo, facing such a colossal figure, would still dare to launch a fatal attack. Could it be that he wasn't afraid of the enormous figure standing behind him?

"Ancestor... save me..."

Crack!

The blade struck his head... piercing to the bone!

It cut short the plea for help of this Imperial Clan branch cultivator at the pinnacle of the Great Saint Realm.

His head was cleaved in two by Chu Mo's strike.

His entire body was split into two halves by that blade. Each half, perfectly equal. The precision of this strike was unparalleled!

Such ferocity in this blade!

Even the Primordial Chaos Ancestor beyond the infinite starry expanse couldn't help but narrow his eyes slightly but wasted no time in launching an attack at Chu Mo.

The death of an Imperial Clan branch cultivator who had pledged allegiance to the Primordial Chaos family didn't cause him even the slightest ripple of emotion. Even if the deceased had been a direct descendant of his Primordial Chaos lineage, he wouldn't have cared at all! In fact, it would've saved him the trouble of dealing with them personally later.

Ultimately, only fifty individuals would survive on this battlefield. One of those seats was reserved for him. As for the rest, he didn't give them a second thought.

After cleaving through the Imperial Clan branch cultivator, Chu Mo harnessed the force of his attack to elevate his cultivation level to its peak. In an instant, he crossed the boundless starry skies and fled into the distance.

For now, he could not confront a fully formidable colossal figure head-on. He needed to escape—and escape far.

Behind him, the Primordial Chaos Ancestor's unhurried voice echoed along the Great Dao, "Chu Mo, make peace with your fate. Here, you have nowhere to hide."

Chu Mo didn't respond, fleeing directly toward the distance. He wasn't concerned about lofty ideals; stepping into the ancient battlefield meant inevitably crossing paths with colossi. This was a fact he had prepared himself for. Facing them head-on, however, was not feasible now.

He still needed to continue advancing his cultivation!

The escape went on for three years!

With his current level of cultivation, remaining singularly focused on fleeing, only colossal figures could keep pace with him in the current age. But catching him promptly remained no easy task.

The Primordial Chaos Ancestor hadn't anticipated that Chu Mo's speed would reach such astonishing heights—nearly rivaling those in the ancestral realm!

During these three years, Chu Mo encountered many other cultivators, yet most conflicts were resolved with a single blade strike, taking no toll on his speed.

Throughout this time, Chu Mo continuously deepened his mastery of the Great Dao, pursuing cultivation relentlessly. His Heaven's Will and My Will technique had begun pushing toward the fifth scroll, though he was missing one crucial element—the higher tier of mastery.

Chu Mo wasn't anxious about this; being anxious wouldn't help.

Though Chu Mo wasn't pressed, the Primordial Chaos Ancestor was becoming somewhat impatient. He could feel that the youngster was leveraging his escape to cultivate, consistently accumulating Dao mastery along the way. If this continued for decades more, Chu Mo might truly have a chance to confront the Heavenly Tribulation of the ancestral realm.

At that point, even if Chu Mo could be slain, the Primordial Chaos Ancestor himself would face great repercussions!

Slaying Chu Mo on the ancient battlefield would prevent such grand causal backlash. This was something the Primordial Chaos Ancestor had already deduced. Hence, he resolved firmly to catch up to Chu Mo and eliminate him.

A year passed again. Within this year, the Primordial Chaos Ancestor came close to catching Chu Mo three different times.

This was due to Chu Mo encountering formidable opponents, individuals seemingly unaffiliated with the Luotian Immortal Domain. While they weren't colossal figures in the ancestral realm, their combat strength was surprisingly comparable to Chu Mo's. Battling them drained Chu Mo substantially.

The most recent encounter left Chu Mo seriously injured after receiving a palm strike from the Primordial Chaos Ancestor. If not for acquiring a rare, potent herb from one of the slain cultivators, Chu Mo might have truly found himself in dire peril.

Fortunately, Chu Mo managed to escape once again.

In the fifth year, however, Chu Mo finally faced a massive crisis.

For ahead of him appeared another colossal figure!

That overwhelming aura enveloped the void for hundreds of billions of miles. The radiance emanating from that figure illuminated the surrounding cosmos, akin to a resplendent, unapproachable giant star!

As Chu Mo detected the other party, the colossal figure had already noticed him—and had likely discovered him even earlier.

Without hesitation, the figure extended a massive hand and moved to suppress Chu Mo directly.

Such was the ancient battlefield, devoid of any sentimentality. Here, aside from oneself, all other beings... are adversaries!

Chu Mo inwardly gave a bitter laugh: How unlucky!

Just as those cultivators before had no way to evade his attacks, Chu Mo now had no way to escape this colossal figure's strike. He had no idea who the other party was, nor did the other party care who he was!

With one strike, it was as if countless disasters descended upon him!

The void collapsed and sank directly.

Chu Mo's body showed extensive fractures. This was after his Dao had significantly strengthened post-rebirth. Before this, such an attack would have inevitably shattered his physical form.

Spurt!

Chu Mo spat out a mouthful of blood.

At this moment, the Primordial Chaos Ancestor, who had been pursuing him, arrived!

By "arrived," it meant that their divine senses and energy locked onto each other's presence!

At the moment the Primordial Chaos Ancestor encountered the aura of the other colossal figure, he didn't hesitate. He turned and left instantly!

Pursuing Chu Mo posed no pressure for him. However, confronting another colossal figure under such circumstances—he had no desire for that. He wouldn't even entertain the idea! Besides, he was certain that Chu Mo was finished!

Stepping into a colossal figure's divine sense range granted no hope of survival.

Meanwhile, the colossal figure was momentarily startled but didn't react to the Primordial Chaos Ancestor's departure.

The Primordial Chaos Ancestor had no intention of clashing with him under these conditions, and vice versa—there was no desire for unnecessary conflict between them!

On the ancient battlefield, this was an unspoken principle among colossal figures and a tacit understanding before they even entered this realm.

Their task was to eliminate all beings below the colossal level.

Only when these lesser beings were wiped out completely and the remaining colossal figures exceeded fifty in number would true conflict erupt among the colossi.

Now, that time had yet to come.

So, the colossal figure ignored the Primordial Chaos Ancestor's departure, fixating solely on obliterating Chu Mo.

Yet, he was surprised—his strike hadn't killed this clearly non-ancestral-realm cultivator. Even more surprising, Chu Mo's injuries weren't mortal!

"Hmm? Where do you come from?" The colossal figure locked Chu Mo in place with his overpowering divine sense before speaking directly. He refrained from striking again.

Chu Mo coughed another mouthful of blood. The oppressive pressure overwhelmed him to the point where forming words required tremendous effort. Yet, he managed to reply, "Luotian Immortal Domain."

"Luotian Immortal Domain? Never heard of it. I am the Sky Patriarch from the Ziluo Heavenly Domain." The colossal figure unexpectedly introduced himself to Chu Mo. Then he asked, "Would you be willing to join my ranks?"

"You don't want to kill me?" Chu Mo asked, puzzled by why this self-proclaimed Sky Patriarch hadn't simply struck him down.

"Across the ancient battlefield, all the colossi combined likely number less than fifty," the Sky Patriarch said slowly. "So, once we clear out those below the colossal level, the fifty seats on the Investiture of the Gods might not even be fully taken. The fact that you withstood my strike without dying or suffering grievous injuries means you are quite the talented and powerful young cultivator. I value talent and don't want to kill you. If you are willing to join my ranks and become one of my battle generals, I will not only spare your life but also teach you divine methods. During your Heavenly Tribulation, I will even shield you and, eventually, lead you through the Tunnel."

Chu Mo fell silent at this. Of course, he didn't want to die—he couldn't afford to. After all, he still needed to rescue Qi Xiaoyu and Shui Yiyi, his two wives. Thus, he wasn't even allowed to think about death!

Moments ago, Chu Mo had been contemplating how to escape the colossal figure's divine sense range, preparing to unleash his full potential even though his chance of escape was merely thirty to forty percent. Yet now, against all odds, this Sky Patriarch hadn't struck him down—instead, he was recruiting him.

"What's wrong? Are you unwilling?" The Sky Patriarch's tone turned cold. While he genuinely valued Chu Mo's talent, his knowledge of the Tunnel made him understand that even colossal figures wouldn't necessarily reign supreme in that world. Without allies, isolation would be inevitable.

Still, if this youngster proved ungrateful, the Sky Patriarch had no qualms about killing him. After all, on the ancient battlefield, taking lives was as commonplace as breathing—nothing to dwell on.

"It's not that this junior is unwilling. Rather..." Chu Mo hesitated and said, "This junior doesn't wish to bring trouble upon you, nor does he want to lie to you."

"Oh?" The Sky Patriarch looked at Chu Mo with interest. "You would trouble me?"

Chu Mo nodded. "Indeed. The Luotian Immortal Domain I hail from has several colossal figures who deeply desire my death. The Primordial Chaos Ancestor who pursued me for years was just one of them. Moreover, there are two other colossal figures... who also wish to kill me."

"Hiss..."

The Sky Patriarch couldn't help but draw in a sharp breath. With his cultivation, he could easily discern whether Chu Mo was lying. Hence, he was staggered and somewhat speechless as he gazed at Chu Mo. "What did you do to provoke so many colossal figures to want you dead?"

After some contemplation, Chu Mo decided to tell the truth, given that the Sky Patriarch wasn't from the Luotian Immortal Domain.

"There was once a prophecy predicting that one day, someone would ruin the Dao cultivation and fate of the colossal figures within the Luotian Immortal Domain, ultimately leading to their downfall. Apparently... I am said to be that individual." Chu Mo replied with a bitter smile.

"Such a matter exists?" the Sky Patriarch exclaimed, astonished. With that, he opened his divine eye—a hidden vertical eye at the center of his brow—and scrutinized Chu Mo, seemingly attempting to pierce through his very essence.

For a long while, even with his penetrating gaze, the Sky Patriarch couldn't discern anything unusual about Chu Mo. Attempting divination proved fruitless, as they hailed from different worlds.

Nevertheless, Chu Mo's words had sparked hesitation within him.

Recruiting such a warrior at the risk of offending multiple colossal figures... that hardly seemed worth it.

But letting such a talent go to waste by killing him also felt regrettable.

What to do?

For an exceptionally rare moment, the Sky Patriarch hesitated.
