Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 206: Little Shiba Inu

"Looking at it that way... it really is a simpleton." Chu Mo said with a twitch of his mouth corner.

The rain gradually subsided, from a heavy pour to a gentle drizzle. The dark clouds in the sky slowly dissipated, and rays of light sneaked through the gaps and shone onto the muddy ground, giving off a dazzling glare.

Chu Mo and Rooster both gazed at a spot not far away, the place where the lightning was most concentrated just now.

Then, they look at each other. Chu Mo asked, "Did it die?"

"Who knows." The Rooster murmured, then said, "Why don't we go over there and have a look?"

With this, it took long strides right towards it.

Watching the Rooster's claws squelching in the mud, Chu Mo couldn't help but envy, "Creatures that don't need to wear shoes sometimes have their perks!"

The Rooster couldn't help but glare at Chu Mo. It intentionally marched with heavy steps, smearing mud all over Chu Mo.

Chu Mo dodged with a grimace, then punched the ground next to the Rooster, causing a large patch of mud to splash all over the Rooster's wet feathers.

"Kid, you dare to ambush your lord Rooster!" The Rooster got really angry, was about to retaliate when suddenly, there came a faint bark from their destination: "Woof!"

Rooster's raised wing was immediately frozen halfway, its eyes wide open in shock.

Chu Mo, who was just about to run away, also froze in his tracks, staring blankly in that direction.

A small yellow puppy wagging its tail comes running towards Chu Mo and the Rooster.

"Woof... woof woof!"

The bark was crisp, even carrying a hint of fear.

Chu Mo and the Rooster looked at each other, both seemingly dumbfounded.

"Was that the ninth-level Primordial Beast just now?" Chu Mo looked at the Rooster and asked.

"Who should I ask if you're asking me?" The Rooster was also taken aback as it responded.

"Woof!" The puppy, seemingly comfortable now, reached Chu Mo and began to nudge against Chu Mo's leg. Then it lifted its head, looking pitifully at Chu Mo. Its eyes were seemingly asking Chu Mo to take it with him.

"You...are a puppy?" Rooster had guessed earlier that it might be a cat or a dog, but Chu Mo never expected the ninth-level Primordial Beast, who had been wreaking havoc in the sky, to be a puppy.

Besides, it looked almost identical to an ordinary Shiba Inu!

It was cute, but didn't seem to have any connections to a ninth-level Primordial Beast.

The Shiba Inu puppy seemed to not understand Chu Mo's words. It stared blankly at Chu Mo and then rubbed its head against Chu Mo's leg again, making a pitiful noise.

"Is it... hungry?" Chu Mo had pets when he was a kid, and he could sort of guess its intention from its whining. So, he took out a small piece of dry food from inside his storage ring, broke it down into small pieces, and extended it to the Shiba Inu puppy.

The puppy's eyes lit up with joy, and it carefully accepted the piece of food and began biting slowly into it. It seemed to be eating very gracefully.

After finishing, it looked at Chu Mo innocently.

Only after Chu Mo fed it all the dry food in his hand did the Shiba Inu wag its tail satisfyingly. Then it turned back, looked at the Rooster with some fear, and squirmed closer to Chu Mo's feet.

"Who can tell me... what the hell is happening here?" Chu Mo asked Rooster with twitching mouth corners.

The Rooster chuckled mysteriously and said, "This little guy was probably critically injured by the lightning strikes, so it decided to seal its own memories. It's a form of self-protection. Who would've thought, its life would be this resilient? The lightning strike from earlier would've killed any other ninth-level Primordial Beasts, they couldn't have survived that."

"You're saying it sealed its own memory to protect itself?" Chu Mo looked somewhat suspiciously at the Rooster. "But why did it turn into this little thing? It looks just like a puppy that was weaned not long ago!"

The Rooster shook his head. "I'm not entirely sure about this either. It's probably this race's unique survival skill. A creature this small, no one would take it seriously at first glance. But I can guarantee the vitality of its body alone is unparalleled. Don't believe me? Let me give you a demo!"

The Rooster said and took a few steps forward. Lifting its leg, it kicked straight at the Shiba Inu puppy.

Thump!

The Shiba Inu was suddenly sent flying, letting out a sharp cry in mid-air. It flew hundreds of meters and crashed into the ground hard.

Chu Mo glared at the rooster, "Are you going to kick it to death?"

The rooster let out a strange laugh, "It won't die! Don't worry. If this were a dog in the mundane world, one claw from this rooster would have turned it into dust!"

Chu Mo moved instantly to where the little pup had fallen, the puppy was unscathed, but his eyes were filled with rage. He glared at the rooster following closely behind.

"See, what did I tell you?" the rooster announced proudly.

"Woof!" the little pup let out a milk-like bark and rushed at the rooster.

Chu Mo bent down, picked him by the neck, and lifted him up. The little fellow's legs were still flailing in the air, a seething grunt came from his throat.

"Alright, alright, you're not getting your revenge now," Chu Mo grinned and put the little pup into his pocket.

The rooster stared at Chu Mo, "Are you planning to adopt this thing?"

Chu Mo nodded, "Yeah. Is there a problem?"

The rooster sneered, "I think you're tired of living! Do you know that the pride of a ninth-grade Primordial Beast is far greater than your humans! If one day, it recovers its memory, the first thing it would probably do is kill you! It would forever bury this incident in the river of time!"

"You're scaring me!" Chu Mo stared at the rooster.

The rooster kept a cold smile, "I'm not scaring you, you should think about it yourself. It's a ninth-grade Primordial Beast! It possesses the strongest power in this world! The highest wisdom! It can tear the void at any moment, and enter the Spirit Realm! Can such a thing be kept as a pet?"

"Aren't you more powerful?" Chu Mo looked at the rooster and said.

"I'm different from them…" The rooster paused, then abruptly reacted, glaring at Chu Mo, "Kid, are you saying I'm your pet? I'll fight you!"

A man and a rooster began to fight again.

Only after a while, when the dark clouds in the sky had completely dissipated and sunshine flooded the earth, and the distant river had also become calm, did the fight end.

"Get your claw off me!"

"You first put away Heaven Slaying!"

"I don't trust you!" They both spoke at the same time.

Finally, Chu Mo said, "I'll count to three, and we'll put away our weapons together!"

"One...two...three!"

The rooster's claw was still on Chu Mo's chest, and the Heaven Slaying in Chu Mo's hand was still on the rooster's neck.

"You've broken your promise!"

"You shameless chicken!"

An hour later, both sides finally lost their patience and reluctantly put away their weapons.

From beginning to end, the little pup was in Chu Mo's pocket, and several times, tried to sneak attack the rooster, but each time it was scared back by the sharp beak of the rooster.

When Chu Mo had changed into clean clothes and was squatting by the river with the rooster, he said somewhat helplessly, "I really can't adopt it?"

"If you want to die, go ahead and try!" the rooster sneered.

"Maybe it will be grateful to me and return the favor?" Chu Mo insisted hopefully.

"Pssh!" This time, the rooster didn't even bother to answer.
