Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 490: The Awkward West Sea Sect

Chu Mo first went to thank One Sword and the Immortals, clasping his hands in a respectful salute. "Many thanks for the assistance of my seniors, brothers, and sisters. Your kindness will be forever etched in my heart," he declared.

Hua Sanniang watched Chu Mo with a beaming smile, carelessly saying, "No worries, just remember to take good care of our daughter in the future!"

Although Hua Xiaoya was usually bold, she couldn't handle such a comment and immediately blushed. She glared at her mother, "Mom, what are you saying!"

He Feng, too, seemed speechless, yet he pretended to be oblivious and continued cheerfully watching Chu Mo. In his heart, he was thinking how it wouldn't be so bad if this man became his son-in-law after all!

The others silently watched Hua Sanniang. The people from One Sword found it slightly more bearable, as they knew what kind of person Hua Sanniang was. However, many on the Immortal side were getting irritated.

The Four Great Sects boasted of unity and deep relationships, including intermarriages. However, the reality was that they were not equally close to each other.

For instance, One Sword was closer to the Immortals, while Lonely City was closer to Beyond Heaven.

Even so, Hua Sanniang's remarks irritated many from the Immortal side. Why should Chu Mo be good to her daughter? Was her daughter to be his wife? Their Yiniang hadn't spoken yet!

These were all hidden thoughts, and no one would say them outright.

With an awkward laugh, Chu Mo replied, "Miss Hua and I are friends. Rest assured, I won't refuse any request from her."

"Why are you speaking so formally? We'll all be family in the future!" Hua Sanniang continued, seeming totally oblivious to the atmosphere around her.

"Ahem ahem…" He Feng finally couldn't bear it, coughing twice while gazing at his crimson-faced daughter who seemed about to explode.

"Haha…" Chu Mo didn't know what else to say and could only resort to forced laughter.

Hua Xiaoya couldn't take it anymore and glared at Hua Sanniang, "Hua Sanniang!" She was so angry she didn't even call her 'Mom' anymore.

"Hey, girl, watch your tone with your mother!" Hua Sanniang scolded Hua Xiaoya contemptuously. Internally, she was cursing her daughter for her foolishness, Didn't you know how sought-after this young man is? Why aren't you grasping this opportunity? What are you waiting for? To chase him all the way to the Spirit Realm once he ascends?

At that moment, several middle-aged women from the Immortals approached; one of them was Miao Yi Niang's elder martial sister, Xiao Yunlian.

Her age was around forty, she was tall, had fair skin, and her presence was quite aristocratic. Although there were faint crow's feet at the corners of her eyes, they only added to her mature charm.

"Chu Mo, our masters instructed us to protect you in the ruins before we left. So, you should accompany us from now on," said Xiao Yunlian. She sounded somewhat indifferent, but she was not cold; she was just naturally like this.

Hua Sanniang on the other side suggested, "How about you come with us?"

"Hua, I think it's better for us to stick together," Xiao Yunlian, who was about the same age as Hua Sanniang but a whole generation senior, courteously countered.

Hua Sanniang thought for a moment. She really wanted to take Chu Mo with her and leave behind the Immortals, but she also understood that this was not the time to act rashly. Despite Lonely City and Beyond Heaven currently backing off, everyone knew the battle wasn't over.

This was just the beginning.

"Alright, let's stick together then. Chu Mo, are you okay with it?" Hua Sanniang glanced at Chu Mo.

Chu Mo's original plan was to leave alone. Despite the danger in the ruins, he wasn't overly worried.

With the artifact, the Heavenly God Mirror, in his possession, it was not hard for him to avoid threats in the ruins.

But now, he had a change of heart.

Given the significant help from One Sword and the Immortals, he had to show his gratitude. Therefore, he decided to take them along.

The folks from One Sword and the Immortals didn't know that by inviting Chu Mo to join them, they were actually the ones who were going to benefit the most!

Good begets good, it is as simple as that.

Just as Chu Mo and his group were planning to leave, Zhou Jun from the West Ocean Sect sheepishly approached. With some hesitation, he asked, "Could we join you?"

Huang Hui was about to lose her temper. She was the only one with Chu Mo during that time and knew better than anyone how the West Ocean Sect had firmly stood by Chu Mo before choosing to back out.

What, now they saw how powerful he was and wanted back in... Was there such good opportunity in the world?

Yiniang and Shen Xingxue, among others, didn't know the specifics, but they knew that the West Ocean Sect had initially been extremely close to Chu Mo before distancing themselves. Thus, their gaze towards Zhou Jun was filled with disdain.

Whether it was their side or the One Sword side, all were pretending!

Putting on a show for Lonely City and Beyond Heaven to see!

But the West Ocean Sect... was utterly foolish!

They had already gained Chu Mo's friendship, only to throw it away at a critical time.

Although a broken mirror could be pieced back together, the cracks could not be mended.

Chu Mo hesitated briefly before smiling and saying, "The ruins here are filled with danger. It's not about 'bringing you along' or not. If you're willing to follow, then just follow."

Zhou Jun was extremely nervous, thinking there would be an eighty percent chance Chu Mo would refuse. The disdainful gazes around him made him feel like his scalp was tingling. To his surprise, Chu Mo agreed.

This took Zhou Jun aback. Only after seeing Chu Mo's half-smile did he hurriedly respond with a bow, "Thank you, Your Majesty King of Chu… Thank you!"

With that, he sheepishly stepped back.

The other members of the West Ocean Sect felt uncomfortable. They knew they couldn't blame Chu Mo, only their shortsighted superior's fault.

The Immortals and One Sword did not suffer casualties in the recent battle. One person from each group was seriously injured but had been successfully treated and had no life-threatening injuries; they were carried by their accompanying party members.

The majority of the casualties were inflicted by Chu Mo and Huang Hui.

The most casualties were those disciples who defected to Lonely City and Beyond Heaven.

For instance, Fan Lizhi from the Longevity Heaven... it was the type that only brought death upon himself. If he hadn't attacked Chu Mo, Chu Mo wouldn't even bother dealing with him.

Although they held grudges from their past, Chu Mo had already grown into a mighty eagle soaring in the sky, whilst Fan Lizhi... was still the same sparrow on the ground.

To provoke him, it would already be demeaning in Chu Mo's eyes.

Lonely City lost five disciples, two of them were in the Innate Realm, and three in the Heavenly Heart Realm; Beyond Heaven lost four, three of them were in the Innate Realm and one in the Enlightening Heart Realm.

For Lonely City and Beyond Heaven, these losses were undoubtedly significant.

If their respective sects outside were to know about this, they would probably go mad. (To be continued. If you like this work, please come and vote your recommendation ticket and monthly ticket at qidian.com. Your support is my biggest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
