Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 620: How much for this chicken?

"Kid, if you keep this up, I'm seriously going to be mad at you!" The large rooster jumped off the horse's back, glaring at Chu Mo.

Chu Mo prompted his horse to run by squeezing his legs, and the horse instantaneously galloped away.

Apparently, the horse too had had enough of this rooster—it no longer wanted to put up with this grouch who'd been squatting on its back for so long.

"Trying to escape?" The large rooster spread its wings, promptly landing on the horse's back and then pecked viciously at Chu Mo's back.

Smack!

"Damn it, you set me up!" The rooster howled.

Chu Mo chuckled coldly, "Did you ask for it?"

"Just you wait! I'm not through with you!"

"I'm not afraid of you!"

A man and a rooster galloping toward the large city ahead.

In truth, it's not that the rooster wanted Chu Mo to interfere with indifferent matters but he said so precisely coz it didn't want Chu Mo meddling.

It was clear as can be that Fang Lan's crush, the son from Wang Family, was an unworthy choice. Jin Tiegang got it all right, regardless of whether Fang Lan went with Jin Ming or became his concubine, that Wang Wu... was just not right for her.

Marrying a man who's narrow-minded and suspicious is a disaster for any woman!

Childhood lovers, innocent promises, none of these stand a chance against the endless bickering over time in a marriage.

Fang Lan saw this coming too. Even though she still might hold on to some hopes for Wang Wu, given some time, she'll get over it.

Judging by Jin Tiegang's words, although Jin Ming behaves like a playboy, he truly cherishes Fang Lan.

On that account, time will only sway Fang Lan's feelings toward Jin Ming.

If Chu Mo really interferes, he'd only manage to be despised by all parties involved in the end.

It's an action best reserved for fools.

Right or wrong aren't the only shades the world offers; laws of integrity are wonderful but must not be irresponsible. Otherwise, you may end up upsetting everyone and gaining a bad reputation.

As Chu Mo and the rooster rode into Jinxiu City, the bustling cityscape stunned them.

The city had countless towering building, the shortest among which was three or four stories high. And in the distance stood several skyscrapers, reaching as high as twenty stories! It was awe-inspiring!

Even though this was the Spirit Realm, with many cultivators capable of flying, such tall buildings were extraordinarily rare.

"This place isn't bad, right?" The rooster quickly recovered from its shock, adopting a superior attitude, looking down on Chu Mo as if he were a country bumpkin venturing into the city for the first time.

It remembered Chu Mo's insults from before—nosey rooster, busybody.

Chu Mo, who knew the rooster all too well, snorted coldly, "Don't act like you're so familiar with this place."

"Hmpf, the things I've seen in my days are beyond your wildest imaginations," the rooster snorted coldly.

"Experiences where you were hunted everywhere, where they wanted to catch you to stew?" Chu Mo snorted coldly too, "Those experiences weren't that great."

"Your tone makes me think you're merely avoiding a serious conversation," shot back the rooster, glaring at him.

People around them watched in shock at the man and rooster, among whom some looked like cultivators, their eyes filled with curiosity when they looked at the rooster.

Chu Mo gave the rooster a derisive laugh, "You like drawing attention, huh? There's already people planning on feasting on you. They want to stew you!"

The rooster, with its heightened senses, quickly noticed the enmity in the crowd's gaze.

It immediately shrank its neck, "Let's find a place to stay."

Soon after, Chu Mo led the rooster into a midsized inn and asked for a top-floor room. Chu Mo had prepared some spirit stones earlier while he was in Illusion God Realm. If he were to use an immortal crystal or a heavenly crystal here, it would probably cause an uproar in the whole city.

Chu Mo would, of course, never do that.

After paying for a half a month's worth of accommodation, Chu Mo took the key from the respectful inn keeper. Instead of returning to his room, he stopped by a tavern and ordered a few signature dishes before settling down.

The rooster, sitting opposite Chu Mo, found itself at the receiving end of a lot of curious gazes again, which didn't sit well with it at all.

"There are countless spirit beasts in the Spirit Realm. What's there to look at?" the rooster grumbled to Chu Mo telepathically.

Chu Mo took note of the crowd's curious looks and bitterly chuckled, "I think we might have misunderstood something."

"What's that?" asked the rooster.

"Remember what Jin Tiegang said to me before parting?" Chu Mo asked.

The rooster nodded. "He said there are many cultivators here and if you need any help, look up the Jin Family."

Chu Mo bitter laughter resounded, "Probably, he had an inkling of what was going to happen. Your presence here, in itself, is shocking!"

"Hmm?" The rooster tilted his head, looking at Chu Mo with one eye in confusion.

"Although this is indeed the Spirit Realm, teeming with spirit beasts, not everyone has the luxury to keep a spirit beast as a companion!" Chu mo explained, "Especially since you're so conspicuous, talk like a human, and have an IQ that's just about fair."

"What's 'just about fair'? I'm brilliant!" the rooster instantly took offense.

"All right, you're so good, and these locals, not many of them have seen a spirit pet before..."

"I am not a spirit pet!"

"Will you let me finish!" Chu Mo glared at the rooster. "They see you as a spirit pet, so you'd better act like a spirit pet!"

"Why?" The rooster looked furious, as if to say unless you explain it clearly to me, I won't leave you alone.

Chu Mo chuckled coldly. "You're so intelligent, if you're not a spirit pet, you could be a more advanced creature. Think about it, won't those coveting you increase?"

"But you're there, aren't you?" The rooster was not the least bit stupid and finally understood the circumstances. He suddenly felt uneasy.

Sure, the Spirit Realm does host a multitude of spirit beasts, but unlike what the rooster had imagined, it's not common for spirit beasts to roam the streets freely or strut around in a human city.

Even in the Immortal Realm, such a sight would be scarce!

The scene the rooster envisioned with supernatural animals parading through the streets only exists in the Heavenly Realm!

Those would indeed be true Heavenly Beasts!

For instance, Hu Lie!

Whether it's his true form or not, his appearance in any city in the Heavenly Realm wouldn't raise many eyebrows.

But this place, it's the Spirit Realm.

"Seems like I'm back to my old days of acting dumb?" The rooster sighed bitterly, "Damn it.. when is this ever going to end!"

Just then, a voice sounded from the side, "How much for this chicken?"

The rooster immediately swung back, seething with anger, "Go sell your own mother's head!"
