The Dragon Realms Saga

Chapter 12: A New Plan

Wildeye stood in the throne room of the Scale Lord. By her flanking her sides stood Arrelion and Avalon. Behind her stood Wiccer, Mave, Vada and Cade. Together she waited to greet the dragon king, but she hesitated. The Scale Lord and Long Whisper had bad ties thanks to Koda's diplomacy in their last meeting. Yes, so she needed to choose her words carefully.

She started with a simple bow. Nothing grand. Perhaps something exaggerated might display her as pompous. She looked up to Rellethek and waited for him to nod. Wildeye let out a small sigh of relief and then began.

"Your grace, we come with a request and a warning"

Rellethek shifted his seat. "Make it quick, wolf."

Wildeye instinctively bowed again, giving Rellethek an impatient growl.

"We have arrived at your gates with the intention to protect your seal.

"From Koda? And that cat?" Rellethek snorted.

Koda was here? When? Arrelion asked.

Rellethek ignored the question. "My dragons have protected a seal for hundreds of years." His words were sharp and quick. "And now you waltz in to rip that responsibility away from us?"

Wildeye stepped closer to calm the building rage of the draconian. "Please your grace, you have no idea of the capabilities of Dead of Winter!"

Rellethek rose from his throne. His wings spread out and his tail lashed the ground. "I will tell you what I told them. The seal belongs to Draconicus and no one else!"

Cade pushed his way forward. "I urge you take dead of winter more seriously, my lord,"

Rellethek gnashed his teeth and roared at the top of his lungs . "Begone! All of you!"

Wildeye and her coalition walked the streets of Draconicus defeated and without a clue of how to proceed next.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

She bowed her head and mumbled half out loud and half to herself. "That didn't go well."

Avalon caught the wolf's words. "No, not at all."

"What we need is a plan of action." Wild eye turned to Avalon. "Any ideas?"

Avalon rubbed her chin. "I suppose we stay at the seal, with hopes that Rellethek doesn't take notice."

Arrelion spoke from Wildeye's other side. "IWe need to know exactly what we are dealing with. According to Cade's information Dead of Winter works in two's, but will they keep up that pattern?"

Wildeye bit her lip. No, I don't believe so, she thought to herself. Wildeye gestured for Wiccer, Mave and Cade to move closer. "We need more insight"

The former White Cloaked nodded his head. "What service can we provide?"

She halted and placed a hand on Cade's shoulder. "What is Wraslyn's next move?"

"Rellethek is a thorn in Wraslyn's side. He would most likely lead a squad of Black Rabbits to assassinate the scale lord."

"This is most concerning." Arrelion turned to Avalon. "Avalon, you were a Black Rabbit, correct?"

" I was."

"Do you agree with Cade?"

Arrelion looked at Mave and Wiccer. "Are the Anti-Rogue Ops trained to deal with assassinations?"

"We spend a great deal of our energy protecting the royal family,"said Wiccer. "I will assign our most experienced ARO to hide out in the city and intercept the Rabbits."

"I should go with them, Wiccer," suggested Cade.

"I think a squad of our men will suffice."

"Elucard will lead the Black Rabbits," he argued, "He will carve his way through to Rellethek."

"Can you match Elucard's prowess?" asked Wildeye.

"I am sure I can. With my Dead of Winter training, Elucard can not keep up with me."

"This isn't some sparring session, mate," the harekin said with a stern tone. "Elucard is a trained killer."

Cade held silent.

Wildeye stared into Cade's silver eyes until she knew he needed this. He needed to face Elucard more than the rest of them. Not to slay, but to save him.

"Alright, Cade, I trust you."

"Yes, my Queen?" Wiccer says.

"I don't like this, but Inle's instincts are as sharp as Elucards. I've seen him in action in several encounters," Wiccer said.

"They should be, he trained me." Cade added.

Mave turned to him. "We won't be able to rescue you if things get out of hand."

Cade nods in silence. "I'll keep your men safe."

"I understand."

Wildeyed looked at Wiccer. "Well?"

"Do it," ordered Wiccer.
