Even though the Metal Lizards had been cut down, I couldn't help looking at them with a strange look.
Even though it was clear that they would die if they continued fighting, it didn't seem like the Metal Lizards stopped.
They even charged into my sword that brought their death in the end, as if they weren't afraid of death. Or it was better to say that there was something that had driven them on that mattered more than their own death.
The more that I thought about it, the more confused I was about all of this.
"Just what was spurring them on this entire time?"
I didn't get a chance to find out as everyone immediately ran over after seeing that the Metal Lizards were taken care of.
Instead of checking on me, they all went to where the Metal Lizards were and started stabbing them with their weapons.
In the distance, I could see that they were doing the same with the other Metal Lizards.
It seemed like they didn't want to leave a single thing up to chance, especially after seeing how crazy the Metal Lizards acted just now. It was clear that the Metal Lizards had left a deep impression on them.
I didn't stop them since this would give them the assurance that they needed.
Instead, I went over to the cave that I had collapsed to see how much effort it would take to open it up again. After all, this was an iron mine in the wilderness, the value of it was hard to imagine.
Especially since I hadn't had the time to look over the mine properly to see just how much iron ore was in there.
The fact that this mine could sustain all of these Metal Lizards was already a good sign.
It meant that there was an abundance of iron ores that all of these Metal Lizards could have these thick iron skins.
When I had come out of the mine, I had made sure that the way that I made the mine collapse would be easy to clean up. The only thing that I had been afraid of was if the rocks shifted in a way that I didn't predict.
But in the end, that didn't happen.
"It should be easy to clear this place out and see what's inside. Let's get started."
I would have started lifting the rocks out of the way, but I didn't get the chance to do that as the others came over and said, "Let us handle this. You should go and take a rest after everything you've done."
Though I showed that I was fine, they didn't listen as they pushed me away from here.
"Let's go and see what was wrong with those Metal Lizards."
That was the only thing that I could say when they were being this insistent.
After coming over to where the Metal Lizard corpses were, I started looking at them carefully. I was looking at every inch of this Metal Lizard corpse since I wanted to see what was different about it.
There was something that had driven these Metal Lizards to chase after me like that.
But it didn't seem like I was able to find anything special about them…
That was until I accidentally got some of the Metal Lizard's blood on my finger.
"This sensation, it's familiar…" I muttered to myself before dipping my finger into blood that was flowing from the Metal Lizard.
The moment that my finger made contact with the blood, I was certain of it.
I had figured out the reason why the Metal Lizards had wanted me that badly.
It was the same reason why the wolves, lions, bears, and other beasts had been so afraid of me.
It was said that Metal Lizards were like mini dragons, but that wasn't just describing what they were similar to. It was also a description of what they had the potential of becoming, but there were very few Metal Lizards that ever reached that point.
These Metal Lizards were the same, but if they had been able to catch me, then they would have gained this potential.
That was because in the blood of these Metal Lizards, there was a trace of dragon blood.
It was very faint, but I could sense it since I was familiar with dragon blood. I had already bathed in it before and had absorbed the essence of the dragon blood, so there wasn't anyone that was more familiar with it than me.
Once I found the dragon blood, I knew that these Metal Lizards were chasing me because of the instincts that came from this dragon blood.
I had the essence of dragon blood from an impure dragon.
Even if it was an impure dragon, it was a real dragon.
So if they had been able to swallow me and take this essence from me, then they would have been able to evolve their own bloodline. That was more important than anything else to the Metal Lizards, it didn't even matter if they died for this.
But since they had a trace of dragon blood in their veins…
"If I collect the blood, I should be able to use it. However, I really don't know what to use it for…" I muttered to myself once I figured this out.
I could use it for myself, but the effects were just too weak since it was very diluted dragon blood.
After a long silence, I said with a sigh, "I guess I can make some dragon blood warriors in the town."
That was the only idea that I could come up with.
But first things first, I had to collect the dragon blood that these Metal Lizards possessed or else it would be a waste.
So I didn't waste any time going forward with large glasses that I made appear out of thin air.
"We've gotten the mine open! Come and take a look at what's inside!"
