"We're about to cross into the Deter Kingdom's territory. You'll have to come out and show yourself for this."
There was even a trace of disrespect in the voices of the general's men.
Andrea and Amy who were beside me looked displeased to hear this, but I just raised my hand to stop them before saying, "Alright, I'll be there soon."
They didn't say anything to acknowledge this before turning to leave.
"Why are you putting up with them?" Amy said in an angry voice.
Though Andrea didn't say anything, the look on her face showed that she was clearly thinking the same thing.
During this time, these subordinates of the generals that came along had been watching us the entire time. The excuse was that they were here to protect us on behalf of the generals, but…
It was really the way that the generals were keeping watch over us so that I wouldn't be able to do anything.
They were making sure that I kept our compromise and stayed out of the way until it was time.
I didn't say anything or go against them since I knew that it wasn't the time for that yet, but to others that didn't know what I knew, they naturally thought that I was letting them walk over me.
With a smile, I said, "It isn't the time for this. I know that you're not happy about the way that they're treating me, but we just have to hold it in for now. Remember, we're doing this for the sake of the people. It doesn't matter what a few people think as long as we're helping the people."
Though they seemed to understand what I was saying, it still didn't seem like they were happy about this.
I just didn't say anything since I couldn't exactly tell them what I knew.
The only thing that I could do was wait for what was coming and I knew that it was coming soon.
After coming out of the carriage that had been prepared for us, I got onto a horse and rode in front of everyone before saying, "Everyone, we're at the border of the Deter Kingdom. It won't be long before we meet the demons and will have to drive them out of the territory of us humans. I hope that all of you are prepared."
I could see on the sea of faces in front of me that there were serious and determined looks.
There were actually quite a few refugees that had come along with this army to reclaim the Deter Kingdom. There weren't that many at first, but once they heard that I was the one that was leading this army, there were many that volunteered.
This had increased the size of the army by at least 20%, which was naturally a welcome matter to the generals. It was just that they weren't happy that this increase had only happened because of me.
After I said this, I continued by saying, "Just know that my sword will be with you when we face the demons, so do not fear and fight to reclaim the lands of humanity!"
There were cheers that roared out when they heard this.
Even the soldiers of the army cheered when they heard this.
It wasn't just the refugees, the normal soldiers of the army were also filled with admiration towards me.
To the side, I could see that the generals weren't happy to see me raising morale like this, but they couldn't complain about it.
With this kind of fervent morale, there was no doubt that they would be much stronger than normal. With this kind of power, it would make it much easier for them to take down the demons and even prevent casualties.
Still, the generals weren't happy that I was the one that was raising the morale of the troops.
With a cough, the generals came forward to take their places in front of me.
It seemed like they were doing their duties as my deputies, but really they were just taking attention away from me. They didn't want me to be the center of attention any longer than necessary.
"Everyone, we will be marching out now! Follow us into battle!"
The generals still acted like they were in charge, but it didn't seem like the soldiers were listening to them. Instead, it seemed like the soldiers were just waiting for me to give the order instead.
The way that the generals looked back at me was as if this was eating them out from the inside, but there was nothing that they could do.
So lowering my sword to point forward, I said, "Move out!"
That was when the soldiers finally started moving forward into the lands of the Deter Kingdom.
Not a single thing happened after we stepped into the lands of the Deter Kingdom.
It seemed that the demons didn't care about defending the border of this land, it seemed that they only cared about certain parts of it based on the scout reports.
But since we were here to reclaim the land, that meant that we had to start securing the lands of the Deter Kingdom from the outside to the inside. That meant that we had to secure all of the land that we reclaimed.
It was much more difficult than just invading the land and taking loot from it.
After all, there was no telling if demons would be roaming this place and would be attacking us. We only had reports that the demons were still here, but we had no idea where they were exactly.
After a while, we were able to build a good base camp from this spot on the border where we would start pushing in.
But it didn't seem like the generals wanted me to lead them at all.
It seemed like they wanted to do it on their own.
"It's more important that you raise morale from the camp."
That was the excuse that they gave, but it was clear that they were trying to restrain me.
Still, I didn't say anything in the end and stayed at the camp as they wanted.
After all, there was a role for me later.
