Jake looked at this man, shocked by the level of confidence he showed. The man walked a few steps forward, as if heading to Jake, but Crypt stepped forward and intercepted him.
The man stopped in his tracks. He looked at Crypt. "Summons shouldn't interfere," he said, throwing a punch so fast that Crypt couldn't even react. The fist slammed into his head and sent Crypt flying right into the wall.
Boom.
"Now that that's out of your way," he said and started walking toward Jake, but just after taking one step, he felt danger.
He leapt back immediately. Boom! A spear stuck into the ground, blasting debris everywhere. Crypt appeared right beside the spear, pulled it out, and pushed forward.
"Hmm, seems you have some fight in you," the man said. A strange black fog spilled from his body and solidified into a scythe. He spun it around before dashing at Crypt.
Crypt also dashed toward him. He thrust his spear so fast it sounded like it ripped through air. The man parried the attack, pushing the spear aside and going for a slash, but Crypt was fast—he moved back and dodged the attack before pushing in again, a clear opening to the man's chest.
But the man was flexible. He bent backward, dodging the spear. He came back up, spun around, and slashed for Crypt's neck.
Crypt blocked the attack and closed the gap, and right there he attacked again. "Raging Tornado," he called out, his spear spinning rapidly.
The man looked at the spear. He instinctively leaped backward, but that was not enough to get away from Crypt's attack. The spear dug into his chest and sent him flying into a wall.
Crypt stood, waiting to see if the attack had knocked him out, but the man got up. There was no damage on his body—a black liquid-pipe mixture had covered his chest just before the attack hit.
"I can tell that you are indeed a powerful warrior. I'll have to dial it up," the man said.
"You speak as if you have the strength to defeat me. You are sadly mistaken if you believe you can get through me and meet my master, because even if I fail, there is no chance of you defeating him," Crypt said in a calm manner.
The man frowned when he heard that. He raised his hand into the air, and a black ball of energy began forming, growing in size until it was the size of a basketball.
'Things are about to get explosive. I should unsummon the rest,' Jake thought and immediately unsummoned all his summons except Crypt.
"Crypt, go all out," Jake said.
Crypt shot forward, moving so fast it looked like he was bending space. The man smirked and released the black energy ball at the right time.
Crypt dodged it, but somehow, the energy ball exploded right behind him, the force throwing him aside.
Crypt flipped in the air and landed on his feet. Despite the attack he had just taken, he pushed forward again.
The man started raining the attacks over and over. Crypt would dodge them and then add his speed to get away before they exploded.
He finally reached the man and immediately attacked. He leapt into the air and slashed down. The man blocked the spear and pushed back before spinning and attacking with a full-powered swing.
Crypt skidded backward a few meters before coming to a stop. The man was already in front of him, attacking again. Crypt dodged the attack and thrust his spear.
"Raging Tornado," he muttered. The spear spun at a crazy speed.
Boom! The attack landed again and the man was thrown back. He slammed into the wall so hard it created a large spiderweb crack.
Yet even after such an attack, he didn't sustain any injuries. He was whole and fine. He got to his feet, the black liquid that blocked the attack receding like last time.
"Killing me is going to take more than that," he said, pointing his hands at Jake. The black liquid solidified and turned into a blade. He fired the first one at Crypt. Crypt blocked it, and somehow the black blade exploded after being blocked.
Crypt wasn't expecting that and was thrown back, slamming into the ground. He rolled and came to a stop. He got back on his feet, but the man was already in the air, slashing down, a black smoke coming out of his scythe.
Crypt rolled out of the way before the attack hit.
Boooom!
The scythe hit the ground and cut deep into it, sending a large crack in one direction. He pulled the scythe out and attacked. Crypt dodged the attack. The bookshelves behind him were immediately cut in half.
Crypt took the opportunity to push forward. He bent forward to make sure he was lower to the ground. He thrust his spear like he was going for a stab. The man reacted to that and stepped back.
But instead, Crypt's spear stabbed into the ground. He used it like a pole vault and pushed forward with a kick right into the man's chest and sent him flying into the wall again, near the same spot, increasing the crack that was there.
Crypt followed up by throwing his spear with all his strength. The man managed to move out of the way. The spear bit into the wall and blasted a massive hole through it.
Seeing that Crypt had lost his weapon, the man charged in, a smile on his face. "That was a very dumb idea, throwing your spear like that," he said, leaped into the air, and slashed down.
Clang.
The scythe met with the spear and the attack was blocked.
"You talk too much," Crypt said. While the man was still stunned to see the spear he had never thrown, Crypt let go of the spear with one hand and punched the man right in the gut.
The man was thrown back, but Crypt felt something was very wrong with the way the punch felt—it was as if some sort of thick liquid wrapped around his hands.
The man slammed into the ground, rolled, and hit the wall. He stayed there for a few seconds before getting back on his feet. He had still managed to survive the attack with that black liquid.
"I'm sure you are perplexed as to why I'm still standing. I'm sure you're thinking, maybe it's his chosen path. But I would never use my chosen path for a weakling like you.
What you're seeing is all my years of study—something that has made me extremely powerful and the reason I know you will die here at my hand.
Darkness that lives. I spent many years perfecting a conscious element—something I could control and grow endlessly," the man said. He raised his hands and the black liquid flowed up and turned into a ball above his hand.
"Now that you know why you can't kill me, it's time I end you." The man roared, about to attack Crypt again, but Crypt had vanished.
He looked around quickly to spot him but didn't see him.
"I said, you talk too much," Crypt said from above. "Raging Tornado." He attacked, his spear spinning so fast it turned into a tornado.
The man looked up, fear surfacing on his face as he looked at an attack he couldn't defend.
Boom!
The attack landed point blank, and his body was sent flying. He slammed through several bookshelves and hit the wall, his body bleeding from different cuts all over.
"You show your magic as if it was something to aspire to. Your weakness still remains, no matter how grand you make your ability look," Crypt said as he walked toward the man.
"How?" the man asked. He was still stunned that an attack had gotten through his defense and damaged him.
"That's none of your business," Crypt said before charging in, ready to end the man. He thrust the final attack, but suddenly the man's eyes went all black, his skin turned pale, he stretched out his hands and grabbed the spear, stopping the attack.
"Tell Crypt to back away now or he will die," Drake suddenly said to Jake.
"Crypt, get away now," Jake said. Crypt left the spear there and leaped back a few meters.
"Hahaha, you have sharp eyes. You noticed that your death was near," the man said and threw the spear away. There was no blood on the hand he had used to catch the spear. The wound healed almost immediately.
"To think that you would force me into using my path. You are really stronger than I thought, but all that ends now," the man said.
"You seem to be forgetting I have more than one summon," Jake suddenly said and summoned Fang.
Fang came out and hissed at the man. "Now, let's see if you can really stop me," Jake said with a smile on his face.
