Void Cultivation

Chapter 61- Even a lion has to use all his strength to kill a rabbit

With solemn expressions, the group of five watched the matches before it was time for Zayne. All in all, many people were knocked out in this round as the Sky Mist academy students were much stronger than them with their real life conbat experiences and higher cultivation base.

After one girl had been beaten, a threw a tantrum as she stomped her foot on the ground. "It's not fair! They have higher cultivation bases than us! And they have also trained in the Sky Mist academy!" The girl cried out loud and inadvertently gained the attention of the other participants.

Zayne looked at her in pity and shooked his head, but he did not have any thoughts of consolinh her. Instead, he just said in a low voice. "Hehe, this girl is probably the daughter of a wealthy family. She has probably not faced real challenges before and has been sugar-coated a lot. Look at how she's throwing a tantrum." He shook his head again and continued.

"What a pity! She still thinks the world is fair." Zayne said before he clicked his tongue and looked away. Obviously losing interest. Grey pondered on his words for a few moments and found them to be true.

Even though he was not a native of this world, since his soul transmigrated into his Grey's body. He was already used to this cruel world after just surviving a day in the corroded zone! Yet, this pampered young girl after living all her life was still complaining of fairness. When he thought it over, he also shook his head and looked away.

'It's better to avoid such persons... They're the ones that normally die first.' Grey said inwardly. Soon the girl was teleported away from the stage and the arena. Some people murmured but no one made any loud sounds.

Eventually, the next number was called up and she went to fight one stage. Despite the girl's frail looking appearance, she managed to quickly overwhelm her opponent. Turning the tables in an instant and achieving victory.

Since the beginning of this competition, she was the first person to defeat her opponent. Other than Grey whose opponent admitted defeat, she crushed her opponent, giving no chance for mistakes.

Once the match was over, her opponent was also looking with a flabbergasted expression. It was clear that she had not thought much of this frail looking young girl with a fierce expression on her face. But in the end she lost, there is no cure for regret! If only she had been serious from the get-go, this could have been avoided.

This match also taught Grey a lesson he deemed would be detrimental to his growth in the future. Even a lion uses all it's might to catch a rabbit!

The girl's expression did not change much, but her expression turned strange under the gazes of countless participants. She tried to cover her face that was dirtied by mud and muck and was teleported away shortly.

Before she teleported away, Grey saw something that looked familiar. Just as he had been unused to being the center of attention, the girl was the same. She clearly felt uncomfortable under the gazes of the participants. Before she was teleported, her expression turned fierce yet solemn. At that moment, she regarded everyone as an enemy.

Now he finally remembered why it felt so familiar, her actions, her clothes. This was the same way he was dressed and reacted before he entered into the Captain's scavenger camp. Like a lonely wolf waiting for his moment to strike. The girl was the same, she had been through a lot of hardship and problems. Yet, those problems turned her into what she was today.

Although Grey felt a semblance of similarity, he also shook his head in disapproval. Although this awareness of your surrondings made you subtle and less of a target places like scavenger camps, in big cities especially places like Sky Mist city. This trick would actually make you more of a target.

If she doesn't learn to adapt, even if she was powerful she wouldn't be able to last for long here. And so Grey watched as she disappeared in a flash of light. The next participant who went up was token number twenty four! After one more match, it would be Zayne's turn to fight.

Number twenty seemed to have learned from watching other fight so he didn't rush ahead blindly like the rest of them. Instead, he steadied himself as he observed his opponent carefully. His opponent nodded subtly at him when he saw his actions. But he did not give any warnings and just created hand seals while bringing an object from his storage bag.

It was a blue sword! This blue sword had a chilling blue sword aura around it. His opponent only pushed into the air and the flying sword immediately flew to number twenty four with speed.

Number twenty four was still calm as he also punched out while letting out a low growl. "Containment wave!" Green screens of light suddenly flew out as he created hand seals after hand seals. The green screens of light glowed and formed a box that surrounded the blue sword. The blue sword tried to slice open the box, but after slice marks appeared on them, they would be repaired instantly.

His opponent looked on in shock. He raised his eyebrow as he looked at his blue sword being contained, but he didn't fret. Instead, he pointed to certain spots on his body and spat out black blood. As he spat out black blood, his face instantly turned pale but with an wavering expression, he pointed at the number twenty four participant.

It was unknown when the blue sword had turned black. With one slice, the green screens of light shattered like broken glass. Now that it was free, the blue sword buzzed and a choking killing intent suddenly fell on the number twenty four participant.

His expression turned solemn as green light came forth and a blue sword stood in the air. With a single movement, he gripped the transparent green sword made of what seemed like glass in his hand and charged out towards his opponent.

The black sword let out a buzzing sound again and flew towards him with blinding speed. Number twenty four swung his sword to clash and a loud ding sound could heard before the sound of shattering glass reached everywhere.

The next instant, the green transparent sword in number twenty four's hand broke into several small pieces before shattering and dissipating into what looked like etheral sparks of light.

Number twenty four's face turned a little pale in fear ias he staggered four steps backwards. The black sword had also been pushed back by the clash but was soon held by the strong hands if his opponent.

The two of them gazed at each other seriously again for a second before they erupted in the next moment. With precise accuracy, number twenty four's opponent swung his sword. Each time the sound of shattered glass resounded in everyone's ears as number Twenty four's glass sword kept on breaking. But in the next moment, it would reform again to block the next strike.

Each time number twenty four's pale would turn a little paler but his gaze was still solemn as he defended against his opponents relentless assault.

After what seemed like four minutes, his opponents sword buzzed lightly and changed back to it's blue color. Number four's opponent turned as pale as a sheet as that happened. But number twenty four's sword no longer broke into pieces anymore. Instead cracks would appear with each clash.

Realization suddenly hit number twenty four's opponent. He realized that even though number twenty four could not beat him, he would still be able to last the full on ten minutes. But his goal was to defeat him before that happened.

Although he had only been admitted into Sky Mist academy a couple of months ago due to a token he was given by one of the academy's elders, it had only been two months since he entered yet his combat strength had risen so high.

The tense atmosphere inside the Sky Mist academy pushed one to always be at their best, if not lagging behind would be the result. And after lagging behind, death would be his next path. Sky Mist academy was truly a monstrous place with terrifying people walking up and down the streets. If one was not careful, one could die without knowing it.

Although he was subtly prideful in his abilities, he gained enough confidence to say that no one in the same level as him could beat him in a fair fight.

But this wasn't a fair fight was it? It was the fight for survival. Use whatever tactic and strategy possible to completely overwhelm your opponent and finish him. There was no such thing as pride or dignity in a fight. There was only you, your sword and your will to live.

Lose any one of that and your days were numbered! It was just now that he realized that! Just now that he realized the mistakes he had been making.

'But no more!' He said inwardly and suddenly waved his hand. Seven flying swords suddenly flew out from his storage bag and surrounded him and number twenty four. A cold gleam shone in his eyes as he commanded the seven flying swords to attack number twenty four altogether.

'Even a lion has to use all its might to catch a rabbit, after all.'
