"Don't stop!" Liu Xing shouted at Yang Suyin. "He can regenerate!"
At Liu Xing's shout, Yang Suyin nodded. He stretched both palms toward the two halves of Wei Yi's head and created a fireball that glowed like a miniature yellow sun. Yang Suyin pushed his palms forward, and the miniature sun flew straight toward its target, whistling like a boiling kettle.
In the two halves of the split head, Wei Yi's eyes locked onto the miniature sun. The blood gushing from the wounds Yang Suyin had inflicted began to boil. In a fraction of a second, a pair of feet grew from the wounds. They kicked each other to dodge the miniature sun. The movement came too late for the left side of Wei Yi's head, which Liu Xing had already wounded with a lightning pillar. When the miniature sun grazed its new foot, the fireball exploded, and Wei Yi's left head screamed in agony as it burned into dust.
Liu Xing's eyes snapped to the other part of Wei Yi's head. Seeing the right side was still intact, he flared his Lightning Cloak Technique, flooded both feet with stable qi, and kicked off the skin of the pale white giant as hard as he could. He moved like a streak of lightning and, in less than a second, arrived directly in front of the right side of Wei Yi.
"You bas—"
Liu Xing swung his arm and punched it using his gun. When his attack landed, his face scrunched up, and it shot through the air like a missile. Not letting it go, Liu Xing summoned his shield directly in Wei Yi's path. Wei Yi's half-face hit the shield with the loud clang of a gong and bounced back toward him. Liu Xing tossed his gun into the air. With his left hand free, he caught Wei Yi's face and squeezed as if trying to make juice. He intended to crush it into a ball of flesh and bone, which made Wei Yi scream in agonizing pain, but the skull was too strong to be crushed into a meatball.
Thinking fast, Liu Xing tried to decide which attack would kill Wei Yi the cleanest. Then, he cycled the qi to activate the Lightning Palm Technique. His airborne gun absorbed it, but he reabsorbed the technique into his body and unleashed it. Instantly, brilliant blue electricity encased his left hand, shocking and scorching Wei Yi's half-face. The creature screamed even louder.
As gravity began to claim him, he had decided what attack to unleash next, and he rotated his body in midair and threw the head toward the pale white giant. Wei Yi's remaining half flew like a bullet, hitting the giant's tough skin so hard it bounced back. The face and the foot that had grown from its side were now charred black from his Lightning Palm Technique. Liu Xing then channeled potent qi into his left gauntlet, creating a lightning ball the size of a basketball, and unleashed a palm strike.
A brilliant white pillar of lightning extended from the ball and shot toward its target. Liu Xing was certain this attack would reduce Wei Yi's remaining head to dust. Although he couldn't use his gun, this was his best option. Though it wouldn't kill Wei Yi entirely—the part of him controlling the flesh tree that had absorbed Elder Yang Zhaoyang still remained—he believed this head was significant. Destroying it was a huge step toward eradicating Wei Yi's existence.
But before the lightning could reach Wei Yi's head, it exploded into a mist of red blood and instantly scattered.
Liu Xing's eyes widened. That wasn't his attack. It had exploded on its own!
Liu Xing's lightning pillar struck the pale giant's tough skin. A red mist surrounded the lightning pillar, turning the base of the pillar blood red. He knew Wei Yi was still alive. He had simply transformed himself into a mist. For a moment, Liu Xing considered encasing himself in the electrical current of his Lightning Palm Technique and attacking blindly, as he had done against Ji Dongyang. However, he then had a better idea.
"Yang Suyin, we need to vaporize this blood mist!" he shouted.
While his lightning could burn the red mist, it wasn't efficient. Yang Suyin probably had a better technique for the job.
As his attack receded, Yang Suyin materialized from a yellow light beside him, floating as if gravity had no hold on him. He looked at the red mist, extended both hands, and sent out a torrent of fire. He swept this torrent of fire around, carving through the red mist and burning it into nothingness.
Summoning a shield below him, Liu Xing sharpened his eyes and senses, observing the mist. As Yang Suyin's fire carved through it, faint screams arose, as if a hundred vengeful spirits wailing from beyond the grave. He prepared for a sudden attack or for some of the mist to escape, but several moments later, no red mist remained, and Yang Suyin ceased his attack.
"Is it over?" Yang Suyin asked.
Liu Xing licked his lips. His heart still hammered against his ribs. Anxiety churned in his stomach, and his gut told him no, this wasn't over. He sharpened his eyes and his qi sense, searching for a single speck of blood that might have dodged Yang Suyin's onslaught.

Several moments passed before his qi sense found something.
There, several dozen meters away, was a speck of blood as small as a flea. It floated slowly toward the pale white giant, nearly transparent and shrouded by some kind of darkness.
Seeing it, Liu Xing instantly flared his Lightning Cloak Technique and leaped toward it. As he shot through the air with a whistling sound, the speck of blood suddenly accelerated, like prey realizing it was no longer hidden, and bolted toward the skin of the pale white giant.
Liu Xing gritted his teeth and summoned his shield to accelerate. He couldn't let this single speck of blood escape. Wei Yi was a resourceful opponent. Who knew what he would do next if he escaped? He had to kill this last piece!
Liu Xing moved faster and faster until the world became a blur. He extended his left hand and fired an Exploding Fist bullet. The bullet shot out even faster than him, parting the air, and a moment later, it hit the skin of the pale white giant, erupting in a modest explosion. Liu Xing landed beside the blast, his eyes locked on its epicenter, his teeth gritted.
"Did you succeed?" Yang Suyin asked, floating toward him.
"No," Liu Xing said simply.
Right before the bullet hit, the speck of blood had burrowed into the giant's skin. While he hoped the explosion had been enough to vaporize it, the reality was that Wei Yi had probably survived.
Liu Xing clenched both hands. Anxiety raged in his stomach, but he took a deep breath, reined in his emotions, and forced himself to think. It was frustrating that Wei Yi had escaped, and he wished he could turn back time to have moved just a little faster, but there was no use dwelling on it. He needed to focus on what came next.
Thinking it over, Liu Xing realized the situation hadn't changed much. Wei Yi was still trying to perfect his "son," and to do that, the pale white giant needed to absorb the main core, absorb Lihuo, and one other mysterious ingredient. His course of action didn't need to change, either. Wei Yi was still the main target, and to lure him out, Liu Xing needed to attack something Wei Yi couldn't ignore.
Nodding, Liu Xing cycled his qi, reactivated the Lightning Cloak Technique, and leaped from his position.
"Follow me," Liu Xing said, passing Yang Suyin, who fell in right behind him.
"What are we going to do now?" Yang Suyin asked. Liu Xing was sure a thousand questions were swimming in Yang Suyin's head, but he asked the most important one.
As they glided through the air, Liu Xing pointed down toward the worm encasing Lihuo, who had stopped twitching and had likely passed out. "That's my current target."
Lihuo was still a Sun Refining abomination. Though he was unconscious now, he could wake up at any time. When that happened, Liu Xing had no doubt the situation would become a stalemate again, forcing him to fight two or even three opponents at once.
"Yang Suyin, hear me out. I'll summarize everything I overheard from Wei Yi and Lihuo's conversation. I haven't processed it thoroughly, so you need to think it over and give me any ideas you have."
Liu Xing began to reiterate what he had heard. Although his memory as a cultivator was sharper than a mortal's, and he summarized the conversation into a short speech, he was sure he missed some context and nuance. But that was all right. The main point was about the pale white giant and the three ingredients needed to perfect it. He needed to offload some of the thinking. Two heads were better than one, and he had no doubt Yang Suyin could offer a fresh perspective.
Yang Suyin looked up at the giant, his pupils dilated. Liu Xing knew his heart must have quickened. "If I understand correctly, this thing is merely at the Lock Opening realm. And not only that, it has a thousand dormant bloodlines in its body. If this thing is successfully perfected, then... isn't this a fucking calamity? And what do you mean Lihuo thought of Wei Yi as a father before all of this?! How did Elder Yang Zhaoyan transform into an abomination?! There's too much information!"
"Just mull it over while we fight. I'm sure there's something we've missed, so when you realize something, tell me. I'll do the same. Right now, let's focus on killing that bastard!"
"You know, there was a time when Lihuo was a baby that he was cute. To think that cute baby is now someone I'd like to strangle to death."
Liu Xing intended to summon his shield to accelerate. While explaining things to Yang Suyin hadn't taken much time, they had still lost some. But before he could cycle his qi into the Statue Summoning Technique, the air around them suddenly grew thick. For a moment, Liu Xing thought they were trapped inside a barrier, but he looked around and saw nothing. Instead, the air and qi had become dense and then began to move frantically, like a calm ocean struck by a hurricane. The qi seemed to scream, prickling his skin as if tiny spirits were sinking their nails and teeth into him, crying for help before being dragged into a whirlpool that was trying to devour the world.
Liu Xing's heart beat frantically, and the hairs on his body stood on end. He knew, without a doubt, that the source of this fearsome, drowning feeling was the giant.
He and Yang Suyin turned at the same time. A glance showed him Yang Suyin's face was as pale as chalk. But Liu Xing's eyes locked onto the giant yellow eye staring down at them. Before, this eye had been in the giant's stomach. But now, it had somehow moved to the giant's side and was looking down on them as if they were fleas before a mighty cultivator.
Then, a slit opened below the single eye, revealing thousands of triangular, shark-like teeth and hundreds of tongues like the tentacles of a giant squid that could sink a ship.
The mouth and the eye contorted into a mocking expression, and Liu Xing knew, without a doubt, that Wei Yi now controlled them.
