IMMORTALITY STARTS WITH A GUN

220 - Unexpected Reinforcement (7)

Liu Xing swung his lightning blade down.

Simultaneously, the fire dragon unleashed a torrent of fire so dense and fast that it tore through the mist and the air, destroying trees, boulders, and the edge of the crater before it. Myriad demonic cultivators launched their attacks; some as waves of blood, some as fire arrows, some as monsters made from green but burning goo, and many more. From the sky, the crater around Liu Xing looked like a hole sucking in everything.

Liu Xing's own strike had already slashed the mummy right through its center, from its forehead down to its crotch. When he finished, a sudden, terrifying wailing, akin to that of a pained mother seeing her child severed, reverberated through the world. The mist trembled. Demonic cultivators enveloped by fire suddenly clutched their heads, while the fire dragons crashed to the ground at the edge of the crater, making the earth tremble. Some of their attacks failed, but others still hurtled toward him.

He summoned his turtle, positioned it to withstand the remaining fire breath of the dragon, and began to slash at the projectiles that came for him. As he defended himself, he looked down and saw the mummy, split in two, spewing thick mist that looked almost like smoke. But he knew it was not permanent. It was like a lamp that burned brightly for a moment before it vanished.

"No, no! Kill him, kill him!" a female voice reverberated through the mist. "Who dares to hurt me?!"

That voice was one that had promised him the secret of the universe in his mind, but since it shouted angrily at him, he knew this voice belonged to the person behind the mist. Hearing her enraged voice made Liu Xing nod to himself. This meant the step he had taken was correct.

If he wanted to follow his plan, he needed to go and destroy the other source of the mist, but since the demonic cultivators around him were currently down, it would be a waste to let them just go like that. And so, Liu Xing kicked the ground and launched himself toward a nearby, still-downed demonic cultivator. The air whistled past his ears, and in an instant, he arrived right above the kneeling demonic cultivator. In a swift motion, he swung his lightning blade downward. The man looked up with wide eyes, but before he could comprehend the attack, the lightning blade passed through his head, his chest, and out of his crotch, severing his body in two. A line of blood formed on his body, and before the two halves of his body fell to the ground, Liu Xing summoned his shield and kicked off it, moving toward his next victims.

With the Lightning Cloak covering him, his movements were so swift that to most demonic cultivators, he seemed to teleport and kill them. Those who could perceive his movement but not react to it would see his serious, intense, and fearsome expression before their heads flew from their necks.

Liu Xing kicked his shield in mid-air and lunged toward a woman enveloped by fire. The fire that enveloped her was not like that of a bonfire; rather, it formed what looked almost like a cloak, with two fiery rabbit's ears on her head, the edges of her eyes blazing with red, almost black, fire. She was merely a Lock Opening cultivator. But as Liu Xing flew toward her and slashed his lightning blade sideways, she jumped, successfully dodging his initial slash as the lightning blade passed below her. He did not stop, though. He summoned his shield and kicked off it to accelerate, causing him to circle the still-airborne woman, and then slashed her diagonally from one shoulder to her opposite waist. In the air, she split in two, blood bursting from her wound. Before she could fall to the ground, however, Liu Xing summoned his gun to his left hand and shot her head, making it explode into a rain of blood.

Before, Liu Xing had been akin to a ghost that could not be deflected or countered, but with his gun, he was now akin to the embodiment of death.

"What the fuck? Who is this guy?!" a demonic cultivator shouted before his head exploded.

"Is this a nightmare?"

"He is only at the second stage of the Core Splitting realm! Don't falter!"

"Fools, do you think he really only possesses two cores? He's obviously masking his power!"

"Help—" A shout stopped suddenly as its owner's torso burst into chunks of meat and blood.

Liu Xing focused entirely on killing the demonic cultivators. With his lightning blade, he beheaded nearby enemies; with his gun, he shot enemies preparing attacks from the rear. His shark began rampaging as well, tearing through several demonic cultivators, ripping their necks, or simply shooting them with condensed qi. As Liu Xing, his gun, and the shark decimated demonic cultivators with ease, more and more demonic cultivators converged, and with them came other cultivators, and ultimately, his stone blade.

As Liu Xing whipped out his lightning blade, a demonic cultivator shot him with a torrent of fire. He dodged to the side, used his shield to appear beside his attacker, and while beheading him, observed the fire dragon finally raise its giant body, flap its wings, and fly to the sky.

Liu Xing knew this dragon was troublesome. And so, Liu Xing willed his stone blade—which advanced as the leader of tens of cultivators in myriad robes and colors—to unleash a crescent of purple qi toward the dragon. When the attack whistled through the air, the dragon snapped its two heads toward it. One dragon head opened its mouth and let out a pillar of fire to defend against the crescent, but the crescent of purple qi tore through the pillar, cutting it in two, hit the fire dragon, exploded into a brilliant purple light, and knocked the dragon several meters into the air.

At this point, the cultivators following the stone blade began to attack the demonic cultivators enveloped by fire all around them, while several others continued to follow the stone blade to keep the dragon busy.

Seeing all the fights suddenly converging in one spot around him, Liu Xing could not help but let out a ferocious smile; adrenaline circulated through his body. While he knew this was a serious situation where he needed to do his absolute best to kill as many demonic cultivators as possible, a feeling of not wanting to lose bloomed in his heart.

After he shot a demonic cultivator right in her open mouth, he encased his gun in potent qi and threw it into the air. Like a fish put back in water, his gun began zipping around, and he controlled it to shoot its bullets rapidly. Since his stone blade and shark were now rampaging, it would not be fair to the competition if he held his gun.

Liu Xing began to move faster around the battlefield; he too did not want to lose against his weapons or other people. Still, he did not lose sight of his initial objective, which was to destroy the sources of the mist. Now, after the mummy stopped spewing mist, the mist was considerably thinner, and he knew the fire enveloping the demonic cultivators was not as intense as before. So, he ordered one of his Eye of Lightning to find the source of the mist.

In the meantime, though, he decided to reduce the numbers of demonic cultivators as much as possible, and his gun steadily sent him potent qi, which, using the Flowing Meditation Method, he dumped into his cores.

Sooner or later, both of his cores would be saturated, and then, he could go ahead and create the third core.

As the fight continued to rage on, the area surrounding the crater became devastated. The ground was upturned, trees uprooted, and boulders destroyed. The mist that enveloped the whole area tried to blanket the area with its influence, but the chaotic battle made the mist swirl and move erratically, causing it to almost lose its cohesion, as if it were merely a naturally occurring one. Then, as if frustrated, the mist let out a beast-like growl; infuriated, the thick mist began to grow even thicker and moved swiftly.

Liu Xing paused for a single moment. A demonic cultivator used this moment to attack him. She snarled as she thrust forward her spear, creating a huge wind vortex that came at him with blinding speed. He did not dodge this attack; instead, he willed his gun, which was coincidentally nearby, to shoot her with Lightning Palm bullets. When the blue bolts hit the back of her head, threads of lightning paralyzed her, her technique dispersed, and the ferocious wind she had commanded turned into a normal wind that made his robes and hair flutter. Tide Walker, which was also coincidentally nearby, suddenly swept down like an eagle snatching a snake; but instead of catching a snake, it chomped half of her neck and killed her. All the while, Liu Xing was more focused on the eye that observed the entire island.

When he saw the mist become thicker, he at first thought another source had begun spewing more mist. But, as he looked down at the moving mist, he realized this was not true. Instead, the mist covering almost the entire island began to be pulled back, making the mist in this immediate area thicker but freeing other areas from it.

Upon seeing this, Liu Xing understood that the one behind this mist was beginning to feel desperate. After all, she had made quite a fatal mistake. Because the mist's movement was changing, the currents became chaotic for a few moments and revealed four interesting spots that he suspected were the sources of the mist.

As he thought this, the fire dragon flew high atop the canopy of trees. His stone blade followed it incessantly like an angry wasp intent on killing its victim. But soon, the fire dragon descended, and as Liu Xing looked up, he saw that its target was him.

It seemed whoever was behind this mist realized—albeit a bit late—that mere demonic cultivators could not kill him, and so, they had brought in a big gun.

As Liu Xing began to crouch to dodge to the side, however, a man coated in a blue aura rocketed toward the dragon from the side. His face twisted into a snarl, and he unleashed a punch toward the fire dragon. One of the fire dragon's heads—the human one—looked to the side, opened its mouth, and shot a giant fireball toward him. When the fist and the fireball collided, a huge explosion rocked the world, and a shockwave upturned the ground. Liu Xing himself jumped high into the air and looked toward the fire dragon, which had lost its balance and roared loudly.

"How dare you run from me, worm?!" the man with the blue aura shouted. "I, Lan Haishen, will kill you and free Elder Wutian from this sorry state!"

At that time, a group of cultivators arrived. Many cultivators pointed at them and shouted, "It's Lady Oracle! With her, our win is guaranteed!"

Liu Xing snapped his head toward the group, especially toward the girl with ragged breath who stood in front of the other cultivators. Then, she looked right at him, pointed, and said firmly, "What the hell are you?!"
