IMMORTALITY STARTS WITH A GUN

243 - Demonic Spear (1)

Liu Xing smashed through the wooden wall with his shoulder, exploding inward like a derailed train. He found himself in a luxurious bedchamber with a window facing the sea. His gaze swept to the wall across from the window.

The spear and the general had been thrown this way, and he had used his speed to maneuver so he arrived first in this room. A moment after he entered, with splinters still flying around him, the general and the spear breached the opposite wall. Without hesitation, Liu Xing leaped and swept his blade horizontally, trying to sever the general's back as well as the spear controlling him. However, just before his blade could strike, the spear lashed out, pulling the general away like a rag doll and causing Liu Xing's blade to hit only air. The spear then commanded the general to rotate and then thrust the black spear, a move that made his hand spiral like a wrung-out cloth. Liu Xing ducked under the black spear. Then, he swung his stone blade up toward the general's neck.

As they exchanged attacks, Liu Xing's eyes were calm, but his mind raced, analyzing the black spear. He had already gathered several key facts. First, the spear's source of power was also its weakness. It was the general it controlled like a marionette. The general's qi enabled the spear to fight fiercly—though it seemed it could also move on its own with the serpentine grace of a snake. But the general was also its weakness. Without him, it was nothing, which was why Liu Xing had been targeting the general this whole time. He also realized that the black spear was incredibly durable. It could withstand and deflect his stone blade at full power, but doing so came at a price. With each attack, the general's qi was depleted, and suspected that once the general's qi was empty, the fight would be over.

"Below you!" Liu Xing shouted as he ducked and spun, thrusting his kick upward. His foot whistled through the air and hit the general's chin with a loud crack, throwing him up like a cannonball into the chamber's ceiling. Liu Xing aimed his gun upward, loaded it with Lightning Palm bullets, and fired them all. The bullets shot through the air. The black spear swept through the air, knocking aside four of the six bullets, but the other two found their mark. They hit the general's head and torso, and instantly, arcs of electricity paralyzed him in midair, making him let out an agonizing roar.

He knew his lightning bullets weren't ideal for dealing with the spear. This wasn't the first time they had made contact. The spear still controlled the general's body, which could move even though electricity coursed through it. Still, this gave him a moment to charge his stone blade, and slash upward. A crescent of purple qi leaped from his blade, shooting upward like a swallow ascending to the heavens. The black spear instantly lashed out at the purple crescent, trying to destroy it. While it succeeded, the shockwave from the destruction was enough to launch the general and the spear into the sky like a rocket, creating a hole in the ceiling.

As Liu Xing loaded his gun with Exploding Fist bullets and his stone blade glowed with purple qi, he saw a swarm of soldiers trying to climb onto the shell of his turtle statue from the window on the side. Tide Walker was there, protecting the women by chomping and splitting every cultivator that came at it while shooting balls of qi that decimated tens of them at a time.

The urge to shout to his shark and tell it not to kill them almost overpowered him, but he gritted his teeth and reined in his emotions. If he ordered Tide Walker to hold back, it would probably obey, putting Fang Ruxue and the others in danger.

Gravity took hold of General Zhao Ming and the black spear, and they began to fall. Liu Xing looked up and took a deep breath. He needed to end this fight as soon as possible, and to do that, he needed his full focus and a simple strategy.

A moment later, he jumped from the chamber, the force of his leap making the wooden planks beneath him explode. He moved through the air like a bullet, eyes sharp, lips pressed, both hands holding his weapons in a strong grip. As if sensing him, the black spear twisted in the air, making the general descend spear-first, feet up, like a living javelin. Black whips of smoke gathered around the tip of the spear, the qi around it so foul it was as if the weapon were wreathed in vengeful spirits. In fact, the black smoke began to form hundreds upon hundreds of tiny black skulls, each beginning to laugh as if they were witnessing the funniest joke in the world. Liu Xing knew that if that spear wounded him, it would be fatal.

"Eat this!" Liu Xing shouted.

As he swung his stone blade, Liu Xing absorbed one of the bullets and sent it to his stone blade, instantly shrouding it in blue, crackling lightning. A blue, crescent-shaped lightning attack leaped from his blade toward the descending spear and the general. The attack was so swift that it seemed to teleport. When it hit, arcs of electricity exploded around them. He knew the black spear could control General Zhao Ming's body even after being hit by Lightning Palm bullets. However, he also knew it needed a fraction of a second to contort the general's body. He hadn't experimented much with this crescent lightning attack, but logic dictated that it was stronger and would buy him a little more time.

And indeed, Liu Xing got a fraction of a second more than he needed.

As they got closer, Liu Xing shouted and swung his stone blade again, intending to cut the general from his waist to his shoulder. The blade whistled through the air, successfully biting into the general's waist and cutting through his armor as easily as a sharp knife through paper. His blade instantly traveled up the center of the general's body, and blood spilled from the wound and the general shouted in agony. Before Liu Xing could finish him off, however, the black spear pulled him away. His stone blade surfaced from the general's stomach and broke free like a fish jumping from a lake. Then, the spear contorted the general's body into a ball as if to ensure the wound wouldn't bleed too much, while also lashing out in an attempt to skewer his head.

At that moment, Liu Xing threw his gun past the general and the spear. It was already encased in qi, and the moment the gun passed the general, he pulled the trigger, firing an Exploding Fist Bullet. When the spear's head, wreathed in dark smoke and skulls, was merely a hair's breadth from his forehead, the bullet hit the general's back and exploded, making the tip of the spear miss him and throwing the general down like a cannonball. As he descended, Liu Xing rotated his body, sent several bullets toward his left gauntlet, materialized a ball of white lightning the size of a basketball, and then unleashed a pillar of lightning that chased down the general.

As the pillar descended, Liu Xing shouted. Logic stated that the spear would have no way to block this attack. It was, after all, a spear, not a shield.

A moment later, the lightning pillar swallowed the black spear and the general. The general shouted in agony, his silhouette drowned inside the pillar of lightning as they descended coincidentally toward another ship. He could see people on the ship pointing and shouting as they scrambled to get away, and Liu Xing gritted his teeth to fight the urge to stop his attack.

"A little bit more! I need to make sure the general's body is pulverized!"

He held the attack for another fraction of a second, and when the pillar was mere centimeters from hitting the ship, he shouted and willed it to disperse. Instantly, the pillar of lightning exploded into a blinding white dome of light. He had never done this before, and the backlash was severe; he felt qi stray from its path in his body, forcing him to spit a mouthful of blood.

Soon, the dome of blinding white light vanished, and Liu Xing fell freely, letting his body be pulled by gravity.

"It should have worked," Liu Xing muttered. From what he had observed, the spear didn't have any techniques that could shield the entirety of the general. This meant the general was either dead or, at the very least, grievously injured. Since the spear needed a host, he was quite sure he could destroy it easily now, but he couldn't assume he had already won. He needed to stay cautious until he had successfully destroyed the black spear.

His eyes moved left and right, and soon he tracked General Zhao Ming, or rather, what was left of him. His skin was charred black, his hair melted away until there was nothing left on his head. He looked more like a blackened mummy than a human.

Soon, he hit the deck of a ship, and when he landed, his body shattered into several parts, creating a cloud of ash that spread across the deck. The general was undoubtedly dead.

Upon seeing it, a little relief came to his heart, but he crushed it. Instead, his eyes locked on the black spear that had been thrown away from the general's remains. It bounced several times on the deck and then began to slither away like a snake.

Liu Xing narrowed his eyes and angled his body to fall faster toward the ship. It seemed he was correct. Without a host, it was weakened. As long as it didn't find another host, the win should be his.

The ship where it landed had been mostly abandoned by its crew, but not all of them had plunged into the sea. There were dozens of people still at the edge of the ship, and right now, they were looking at the slithering black spear with wide eyes and trembling feet. But in their eyes, Liu Xing could see a flicker of greed.

As this thought crossed his mind, the three people suddenly moved. They ran as fast as they could, their hands reaching for the black spear as if they were penniless men seeing a bucket of gold.
