"Heaven Splitter!"
Awel roared and, at the same time, more than three thousand Heavenly Elemental Spirits born of the wind element raised their blades. Runes appeared on all their foreheads. It was like they were all linked together, and all their power converged straight into Awel, who was floating high in the skies.
In an instant, it all happened: a gigantic blade of wind formed above and came crashing down toward a single target.
That man froze, stunned, as a subtle sense of danger wrapped around him.
"Elemental Cataclysm!"
At that exact moment, the Heavenly Elemental Spirits of water, standing with Eleri, unleashed their ultimate offensive technique together. It was like thousands of water serpents surged forward all at once, merging into a tsunami that rushed at the same target.
The man's body shivered. Those were two devastating, extremely dangerous attacks!
He had the ability to unleash something on that level too, but it would cost him dearly. How could these Heavenly Elemental Spirits be this strong?
There was only one explanation — this had to be some kind of sacrificial technique they got from a ruin. He was sure this was an all-or-nothing move. If he could block it, they'd be drained and he could wipe them out easily after.
Confident, he roared, and his body was wrapped in a bloody aura. Since defending didn't look like the best option, he decided to strike back to weaken the offensive force, trusting his defenses to handle the rest.
The very next second he tried to move forward, and then—
"!"
His body froze up. Looking at his arm, he saw his skin being covered by a layer of earth. It was spreading across his body like it was turning him into stone!
Silently, Tir and all the Heavenly Elemental Spirits born of earth were channeling the Curse of Earth onto him. It didn't matter where he was — with his feet touching the ground, there was no way to escape that technique.
"You sons of bitches!"
Now, for the first time, he felt the real threat of death. Without hesitation, he released all the energy he had almost desperately.
The thieves and assassins were less than fifty meters from the epicenter. In a panic, their leader shouted for everyone to unleash their elemental Laws together, raising a raw barrier of protection.
Nobody hesitated to burn nearly all the power they had left. They also believed this was an all-or-nothing attack: survive it, and then counterattack.
Both strikes — one coming down from the skies, the other from every direction — slammed into the target.
*BOOOM!*
The space itself trembled. The clash shook everything in a massive area.
The Heavenly Elemental Spirits felt like they had been smashed by a giant hammer and spat out blood.
That man actually managed to defend. But he was blasted away, one arm broken, until he slammed against the elemental barrier behind him.
The barrier shattered, and the enemy army's leader stepped up to support him. Coughing up three mouthfuls of blood, the man was pale, fury burning in his eyes.
After catching his breath, he roared: "Kill them all!"
The leader nodded in understanding, then gave the order: "Attack!"
At the same time, Tir, Awel, and Eleri shouted: "Eliminate them all!"
Finally, the two armies clashed with everything they had.
The Heavenly Elemental Spirits, only nine thousand strong, formed a circle, sealing off all directions.
The thieves and assassins, more than thirty thousand, were packed into a small circular space, now exploding outward in attack like a supernova.
Up in the skies, floating surrounded by wind runes, Darian's eyes were blank.
That whole opening clash had lasted less than a minute. The coordinated strike of his three generals had been ordered by him to buy time. Now, a light returned to his pupils, pulling him back to reality.
Darian took a deep breath, cold sweat dripping down his forehead as he saw something shocking in that man's karma. His mind started working quickly, completely changing his plans.
Meanwhile, on the ground, elemental power explosions shook everything in every direction.
"NO!"
"AAAAH!"
Screams rang out among the thieves and assassins. At first, they thought the Heavenly Elemental Spirits were drained and out of energy after that terrifying move... but reality was completely different.
In truth, that hadn't even cost them a third of their energy. And as a result… a real massacre began.
They had three times as many soldiers? What a joke. Each little Heavenly Elemental Spirit had more than enough power to take down ten of them alone, until their energy finally ran out.
Even so, none of the assassins and thieves were amateurs. After realizing their mistake, they started moving tactically, taking advantage of their numbers while they still had them.
They grouped up in threes and attacked a single target from every direction in sync. But…
The wind-born simply vanished like a swift breeze, almost impossible to hit. The earth-born were insanely tough and hard to bring down. The easiest were the water-born, but even they could summon ice to defend themselves. None of those little ones were easy targets.
Still, eventually someone got hit and injured.
But that one was immediately covered by their companions. Then, they pulled out a strange potion and drank it.
Within three seconds, they were completely healed, ready to fight again.
Those were the so-called Life Potions, created by Eleri. Calling them "potions" was kind of an exaggeration, since she just produced a bit of pure water from her real body. It happened after she absorbed massive amounts of people's life force; she became so saturated with it that Life Water started forming inside her instinctively.
The first time it happened, Darian analyzed it and concluded it was pure life energy, blended with water element of the highest level.
For normal races, that was basically a condensed life energy elixir — something insanely rare, whose effects would only show under very specific conditions. But for the little Heavenly Elemental Spirits, even those who weren't water-type, that potion had terrifying healing power.
After ten minutes of one-sided slaughter, the leader of those idiots finally realized how bad things were and was completely horrified. Right away, he turned to the hybrid man.
That one was watching the battlefield while recovering after swallowing a pill. He snorted and let out a cold laugh:
"I really was caught off guard and didn't take it seriously until the last moment. That's why I couldn't draw out everything I had in time. Now, I'll end this quickly. I'm very interested to know how they got this strong."
He took a deep breath. Then, an intense crimson aura burst from his body and spread around him like a growing, burning flame.
When he unleashed his full power, the entire environment trembled. Everyone fighting nearby felt it, ally or enemy alike. It was a force that made their danger instincts scream.
At the same time, that man drew a black spear. Before, he had only used his claws and a fraction of his power. Now he was holding nothing back.
With a single step, he shot forward, radiating a terrifying bloodlust.
Up in the skies, Darian's body darkened completely. An overwhelming aura spread in all directions. Two daggers appeared in his hands. He snorted, then blasted straight toward the enemy.
*KBOOM!*
A massive explosion shook the battlefield, and a blinding light burst out like fireworks. Violent, yet dazzlingly beautiful at the same time.
Everyone stopped their attacks for a second, blinded by that brightness.
When the light faded, every gaze was drawn to a single spot.
There stood Darian. The wind whipped at his robes and long green hair, which had grown a lot over the years. His aura was calm… terrifyingly calm.
Darian was right in front of that man, one arm extended firmly gripping his dagger. On the other side, the enemy had both hands locked on his spear. The two stood frozen, weapons clashing.
Darian glared at him coldly. Then suddenly roared:
"Begone!"
With those words, his power erupted like a volcano. He stepped forward with force.
The man's eyes went wide before being blasted back, unable to resist.
Everyone sucked in a sharp breath together. The enemies were terrified. The allies, hearts racing.
The whole battlefield was swallowed by a subtle darkness. Around Darian, a terrifying black aura wrapped him completely. His body couldn't even be seen anymore — only his red eyes, shining like beacons.
For the first time, Darian was using the power from the primordial core. He didn't have much, but it was like throwing oil onto a fire. It fused perfectly with his black power, boosting it greatly for a short while.
Before, that man's power had been overwhelming, especially after unleashing everything he had. But now… he was nothing more than a firefly shining under the midday sun.
The current Darian looked like a demon king descending upon the mortal world. A murderous intent flickered in his eyes.
Suddenly, he stomped the ground.
"!"
When Darian vanished from where he was, the man was horrified. His full power was something Darian could just brush aside.
He felt death so close, so real, that his body froze up.
Sensing the danger, he didn't hesitate. With a thought, a small rune on his body shattered.
In that moment, all fear disappeared from him. A smile of victory spread across his face, as if mocking the ridiculous situation he was in.
