Damned Healer

Chapter 397: True King

The entire surviving allied army, nearly three hundred thousand strong, stared at the empty battlefield before them. Every enemy had been completely wiped out before their eyes, which meant they had won, but...

Before that new spatial channel, people were truly terrified.

From within it flowed a violent power, vast as the sea. That kind of power could destroy the whole world, and they were no different than ants before it.

Darian had already told both the leaders and the common folk: Radiant King Dohans really was wounded, which was why they needed to seize the chance to rise up and deal as much damage as possible before he fully recovered.

Unfortunately, they'd still been too slow. Instinctively, they felt Dohans might not be completely healed, but he'd definitely recovered enough to wipe them out with ease.

Against absolute power like that, any kind of scheme or strategy was meaningless. There was nothing intelligence could do. The only thing left for them was to wait for death.

"Everyone, start recovering your energy. Prepare for the final battle," Remira ordered seriously.

"Is there even a point?" muttered bitterly a soldier from one of the nature races. In his view, everything was already over.

Remira turned toward that man, then to all the others in the army who shared the same thought:

"What bullshit are you talking about? The Boss is unmatched. I told you to recover, so focus on recovering. We still have to avenge the veterans and our allies, don't we?"

Everyone nodded and began swallowing pills and potions. Now, all they could do was put every shred of their hope on Darian.

Right at the front of the army, just below the spatial channel, Darian took a deep breath... finally, the time had come.

As he focused, he felt a dense power flowing toward him, gathering around him. That was karma being devoured.

Since the moment his soul had been seized by the dark power, Darian no longer had to will himself to devour karma. For him, it had become the same as breathing. He didn't need to think or focus — almost automatically, all nearby karma moved toward him and was devoured.

Darian snorted.

Then, his Supreme primordial core flared to the max, together with his core absorption skill. Ever since that core had evolved, he felt he no longer needed to absorb them one by one.

On that battlefield, the enemy had had a million and a half soldiers. Nearly a million had been instantly refined in seconds to create the channel, but half a million had already been killed, their corpses scattered everywhere.

[Almighty Law +5]

[Use?] [Yes / No]

He chose yes, and the whole environment around him began trembling. Inside those corpses, most still had intact primordial cores, holding a trace of chaotic power as well.

Darian's red eyes glowed, like a demon beast being fed. He devoured the karma, devoured the chaos power of the dead, then devoured all their primordial cores.

In just minutes, the space itself began twisting. The spatial channel started to stabilize.

The people behind couldn't even breathe under the immense pressure. Every eye turned toward the figure standing right at the portal's edge.

Though he wasn't huge, that figure gave off an overwhelming force. In that moment, they all felt that as long as he was there, no matter how hopeless things looked, they could still reach victory.

His long hair and robes billowed behind him. His firm face remained utterly calm, and in his red eyes burned a restrained light. He radiated an unbelievable sense of security.

Remira drew in a deep breath. "The Boss is finally going all out."

"Y-you mean… he wasn't fighting seriously before?" Zatrian, Faden, and the others were stunned.

"Of course not. If he wanted to, that little Radiant King would've died in a single move," Remira said flatly. "Did you really think he didn't know Dohans might already be nearly healed? In truth… he was counting on it."

She had full confidence in Darian and had always felt he was preparing carefully, step by step, to kill the one he carried such immense hatred toward. She felt he thought about that moment day and night — the moment he could finally kill him.

After nearly ten minutes, everything went dead silent, as if time itself had frozen.

Suddenly, from within the portal, a blinding white light poured out like a sun.

From it stepped a humanoid figure, radiating a white aura, pure and sacred.

He was a handsome man, golden eyes shining, radiating a magical and divine presence. But… in Darian's eyes, he was nothing more than a freak crawling out from a sea of black karma.

He stepped out, floating in the sky, looking down coldly until his gaze locked onto Darian. A faint, meaningful smile curled on his lips.

"You got here faster than I thought, excellent…?"

He suddenly cut his words short, sensing a massive shift in the energy around.

Dohans narrowed his eyes. Space shook around Darian, and then a flow of primordial power was delivered straight from the system into him, piercing through his body.

A powerful fluctuation burst out from his soul.

Dohans immediately understood. The system only handed out things like this in one situation… when the group bonus hit the next stage, and the system had to make up what was missing.

Darian's eyes moved to the green screen.

[Current status: Dark Saint]

[Primordial Points for the next realm: 10,000/10,000]

[Do you want to break through to the next realm?] [Yes / No]

"Yes."

**BUZZ!**

The whole world started humming. Darian's body shook like it was about to shatter. In his soul, veins pulsed and swelled like rivers about to burst.

The power of chaos raged through his entire being. With every heartbeat, it felt like his soul was being torn apart and reforged again, reborn into an even darker form.

Just like the day he stopped being only human and became a High Human, his physical body followed the change. Flesh burned, bones cracked, meridians twisted — every part of him was being reshaped permanently.

It lasted only a minute.

During that time, Dohans didn't move. He just watched in silence, like the whole process meant nothing.

But then…

"!"

Dohans' eyes went wide in shock.

A suffocating pressure slammed down on him the instant Darian opened his eyes. Around his body, a grayish aura spread outward. Above his head, that energy rose like horns… or a dark crown.

Darian clenched his fists.

A destructive force, like a volcano erupting, exploded out from within him. The power of chaos was no longer some temporary buff, no longer something limited. Now, it was part of his very essence, rooted deep into his soul, alive for as long as he lived.

Darian took a deep breath. What poured out from him wasn't the aura of a mortal anymore — it was the aura of a true king. A Devil King.
