Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 67 Breaking the Blockade Line (Part 1)

Fatty was completely oblivious to SkyNet's lock on him. He never thought that on his dash forward, every leap and direction change was being observed clearly by someone! Nor did he realize how amazingly shocking these incredible movements would be to others.

Fatty just focused on running; he had no time to stop and rest. No matter the outcome of assassinating Stephen, he had to do it. This was the only way he could help the Eastern front and disrupt the entire Mezrich war situation. And this method was what he excelled at.

The physical enhancements brought about by martial arts training were fully displayed at this moment. The combat assistance device on his forearm faithfully recorded all bodily indicators including heartbeat, breathing, blood flow, hormones, etc. After nearly two hours of sprinting, these indicators had not changed at all, maintaining steadfastly at a fixed level.

Fatty even suspected the assistance device was broken: "No way, why isn't there a surge of hormones in response to such intense stimulus?" As he ran, he beastly imagined Bonnie, Milan, and Ann Lei naked in the shower, trying to get his member to buck up, proving his body was healthy.

The tent was erected as desired, and Fatty, with a spirited stance, unleashed his full potential. A pudgy Phantom surged wildly through the jungle mountains. His strange running style looked like a ball bouncing over mountains and streams, leaving all the towering mountains and flowing rivers behind him.

"Oh my God!" exclaimed those watching the SkyNet surveillance simultaneously. Whether the command members retreating northeast or the few captains leading their teams to flank the enemy, all were staring dumbfounded at the virtual screens on their Mecha control consoles, utterly engrossed.

In the three-dimensional images, Fatty somersaulted in a ball, astonishingly leaping nearly three meters off the ground, landing on a giant rock at the top of the cliff, then pushing off with both legs into the air, stretching his limbs as he flew straight down the cliff.

From the satellite images, below the cliff lay a canyon over a hundred meters deep. A murky, roaring river with turbulent waves was tumbling through. There was no membrane to enjoy the wind, nor any auxiliary equipment; Fatty should have been free-falling, yet he glided like a gliding possum through the chaotic winds of the mountain stream. Upon descending to a mid-slope, he suddenly straightened up, miraculously gaining strength out of nowhere, leaping horizontally to a gentle slope and continuing to sprint.

"Is this... still human?" Whoever saw this scene was collapsing. Fatty's movements cannot be described as magical; they can only be called bizarre! Comparing an ordinary Special Soldier's jungle march with Fatty was like comparing a kid who has just learned to walk with a cosmic champion sprinting!

No matter how skilled, any Special Soldier compared to this Special Fatty would damnably be shamed to death!

Who would dare just jump off a cliff without hesitation? Who can twist their body mid-air and fly sideways?

Fatty had previously jumped in Mecha once, now it seemed he was addicted, with skills and experience, casually jumping off cliffs! Moreover, his entire being exuded eccentricity, accomplishing what seemed impossible! Slow down the footage and carefully watch – when he forcefully sprang in the air, miraculously gaining strength, it was his member exploring forward first, pulling his body along!

Everyone was bewildered by Fatty from SkyNet's surveillance, not a single one did not fleetingly pass the thought of dissecting him. They could in no way comprehend how Fatty trained such cross-country skills.

After the exclamations died down, everyone held their breath again. Because on the satellite map, after two hours of running, Fatty's route had left the relatively tough mountainous area and entered the hilly outskirts of the Jiacuo battle zone.

Unlike the sparsely populated mountainous area, the density here of combat units was frightful. Even if Fatty was merely cutting diagonally across the corner of the battle zone, the enemies and dangers he faced were far greater than climbing the cliffs.

Less than two kilometers ahead of Fatty was a Stephen Group infantry supply line defensive formation! This defense line, despite airstrikes and Vanguard sabotage, still bore dense trenches and fortifications. A fully mechanized infantry division was stationed along this line. Though not a frontline, the soldiers weren't fully entrenched. Crossing here unnoticed was undoubtedly harder than scaling the heavens.

Examining the road analysis provided by the electronic 3D map, crossing here, entering the left-side mountainous area of No.6 Resource Highway, and heading eastward through the Karasuni Canyon was the fastest and most convenient route to reach Christers Base. Alternately, Fatty would have to detour southeast for nearly a hundred kilometers, traverse the Thorne Mountain with an elevation exceeding five thousand meters, then turn northeast.

The endless Thorne Mountain was, indeed, too steep. The climate and natural conditions were extremely harsh. The lazy gluttonous Fatty clearly hadn't considered it. Without a shred of hesitation, he swiftly headed straight for the enemy's infantry defense line.

As a team of Stephen Group soldiers appeared on SkyNet a few hundred meters ahead of Fatty, the atmosphere tightened suddenly. Everyone was sweating profusely in their palms; each stride Fatty took drove their heartbeats, leaving them breathless.

Suddenly, Fatty stopped; he lay on the ground, listening carefully. As everyone exhaled in relief, they were amazed. At such a distance, could Fatty have already discovered the enemy? A few seconds later, Fatty leapt up again and continued running, but this time his footsteps were nearly silent!

As Fatty ran stealthily like a lynx, the distance between the two parties got closer and closer. When Nia, who could not contain herself, cried out, Fatty finally lay down silently merely a hundred meters from the enemy.

Camouflaging and lurking seemed innate talents of Fatty; once he stopped, his grotesquely twisted plump body immediately blended seamlessly with the surrounding mud and bushes.

There was uproar in front of the virtual screen! Whether the command team retreating northeast or the captains leading their teams flanking the enemy, none could conceal their shock.

As outsiders, Nia and several military advisors were merely amazed at Fatty's seamless camouflaging skill. However, Bonnie and the few captains were truly astonished by the position Fatty seemed casually to have chosen for lurking! Because even these jungle warfare experts, as observers with SkyNet's terrain and panoramic view, could not find a better covert spot!

Fatty had not only accurately avoided the patrol team's path but also occupied the most concealed spot with the broadest view! Concurrently, the dense shrubs behind this slightly elevated position was the best route to rapidly escape the enemy's sight.

The saying "You can't recognize the real picture of the Lushan just because you're in the mountain" is the greatest limitation itself on the battlefield! Choosing in the SkyNet map isn't remarkable; what's difficult is Fatty's precision finding his place while within the field. This casual hiding required an extremely clear mind, extraordinarily calm disposition, vast experience, and incredibly keen intuition — this is the essence of jungle warfare!

What's even scarier is that since he discovered the enemy, Fatty had been heading towards this place. Throughout his dash, none of the places he passed caused him a sliver of hesitation! He knew from the start at what time, at what speed, and at what position he would arrive! And all this was founded on thorough knowledge of the enemy's speed, route, and even the angles of their sight!

Everyone saw Fatty gently pull out the sniper rifle, watching the patrol soldiers gradually appear in the forest's only open area in front of Fatty. A chill crawled down the backs of several captains. Unconsciously, they imagined themselves as the soldiers exposed under the gun's muzzle. The feeling of being watched and hunted made everyone shiver in fear!

The patrol squad evidently hadn't detected Fatty; their route didn't change a bit. Three Vanguards were distributed in a triangular formation on the front and flanks of the squad. In the middle and to the rear were seven soldiers cautiously advancing. These infantry in slow progression, occasionally stopping to listen to the surroundings and fiddle with portable radar, were clearly performing a routine logistics support patrol. They had no clear target; their walking pace and actions leaned more towards a leisurely patrol. Judging by their direction, they came from one of the highlands guarding a kilometer away on the defense line.

"Do you think he'll shoot?" Nia, tense and seemingly forgetting her rival, unconsciously grabbed Bonnie's clothes and asked.

"I don't know." Bonnie shook her head; this Fatty always had ideas different from others; no one could guess his next move. Putting herself in his place, Bonnie wouldn't shoot. Even if a sniper rifle now could be completely silent and flashless, unless he could kill all enemies in an instant, any enemy's communication device, gunfire, or distress beacon would trigger large-scale raids and searches.

Fatty probably won't open fire.
