"Harry, how did you know that Lycoris would show up here?"
Carlo stared in astonishment at the woman not far in front of them, witnessing for the first time his companion Harry's formidable intelligence-gathering skills.
Lycoris was Johnny Dennison's ex-wife.
Their trip here was to complete a task given by Dean.
Harry chuckled. "Because this place around here is known for wealthy older women looking for company. Some of these wealthy women, the ones with... certain ideas, come here to pick out good-looking men with great physiques. And the men who are short on cash like to show off their most valuable assets by the pool. Johnny Dennison's ex-wife isn't even fifty yet; she's at an age where her desires are strong. There's a very good chance she'd choose to show up at a place like this."
"But her husband was just murdered, and she doesn't care about her own son? She's actually in the mood to seek pleasure?" Carlo sometimes really didn't understand how these women thought.
Harry, however, took it all in stride. "Precisely because her ex-husband kicked the bucket, she's in high spirits. She'll be looking for some prey to celebrate being able to enjoy Johnny Dennison's fortune all by herself."
Now that Johnny Dennison was dead, the wealth he left behind, including the copyrights to most of his books, would be inherited by his son. And Johnny Dennison's son was not yet of age. According to Los Angeles law, Lycoris, as the son's primary guardian, would naturally take over the inheritance left by her ex-husband and have the right to dispose of it.
As the two were discussing this, a tall, well-proportioned man emerged from the water. He stepped onto the poolside stairs, lightly swept back his wet, long brown hair, and revealed his sharply defined features. Water droplets trickled down his full chest, glistening in the sunlight, creating an eye-catching, healthy, and striking image that drew the gazes of several women lounging nearby.
The man's target was clear. He turned his head just so, looking towards Harry and Carlo's target, his gaze meeting Lycoris's directly. He flashed a charming smile, one he had practiced thousands of times, letting it bloom naturally.
However, upon seeing this smile, Lycoris's initially appreciative expression flickered with a hint of disgust. She immediately looked away, not sparing the handsome man emerging from the water another glance.
The man froze on the spot but quickly recovered, smoothly shifting his attention to another woman. This woman hadn't noticed she was his backup choice. Seeing him look her way, she immediately picked up a nearby wine glass and waved, beckoning him over. If things went as expected, this man would successfully trade his youth and body for a period of pleasant, kept-man-like existence.
Seeing this, Harry and Carlo looked troubled. The man from before, whose physique and looks far surpassed theirs, hadn't appealed to Lycoris. It seemed it would be difficult to use their charms to gain her cooperation.
Normally, they could simply reveal their identities, question Lycoris, and ask for her cooperation directly. But whether she would actually cooperate was another matter entirely, and Dean was short on time. Therefore, a frank and open conversation was indeed the most direct way to lower Lycoris's defenses, *if* she were receptive.
"Harry, what do we do now?"
Carlo lacked experience in these matters and could only look to Harry, hoping for a good suggestion. Harry didn't want to appear hesitant in front of his partner. He gritted his teeth, adjusted his swim trunks to make his 'package' seem more substantial and potent, then confidently strode toward Lycoris, who was wearing sunglasses.
A wealthy woman like Lycoris, who didn't lack money, has probably experienced all kinds of men, Harry figured. Maybe a change of pace would pique her interest?
"Hey, lady, has anyone ever told you that you look like a noble stock flower—captivating, yet so regal it's intimidating to approach?"
Harry grinned cheekily, doing his best to show off his dark, firm glutes in the sunlight. This was a weapon forged through sheer hard work!
Lycoris turned her head and gave Harry a curious look. She then pulled down her sunglasses, and after confirming that a Black man had indeed approached her, she chuckled. "Don't you know I don't like dark things?"
Harry's smile stiffened. But, aware that Carlo was watching him, he had to press on. "I've heard you have exquisite taste, that you're not just any woman. I apologize for my boldness, but to me, you're like water in the desert—you make me lose all sense of proportion. It's forward of me, I know, but I still have to ask: do you have a boyfriend?"
Although Lycoris wasn't fond of Black men, Harry's words still pleased her. So, she didn't immediately tell him to get lost and chuckled softly, "I already have one."
"You're so beautiful, you deserve two boyfriends!" Harry pressed on shamelessly.
Lycoris's smile widened. "I currently have six male companions—one for each day of the week, and I take Sundays off. Of course, sometimes I have them all join me on Sunday. So, do you really think I need another boyfriend?"
"Of course!" Harry exclaimed. Internally shocked by the woman's voracious appetite, he patted his chest. "Domesticated pets can't compare to something wild. As a lady of taste, I highly recommend you try a different flavor."
