Through the rows of Steel Puppets emitting dazzling beams with terrifying destructive power, Sifuer once again encountered this mysterious stranger who endangered her squad. She had noticed his presence during their journey but was too preoccupied with pressing forward to pay attention. Later, as he covertly followed them, under ambiguous circumstances, Bailang ordered the Amoeba Protoform to detain him, hoping to buy time for their escape. Unexpectedly, this backfired, and they were outsmarted.
After dragging him into the battle, Sifuer didn't pay further attention to him. In their eyes, this lone figure would quickly be consumed by the thralls, but the outcome astonished her—he not only resisted the Red Sky disaster's suppression but swiftly unleashed squads of Steel Puppets that wreaked havoc everywhere. The spectacle was shocking for Sifuer and simultaneously stirred her intense curiosity about this enigmatic man, motivating her to dismiss all objections and personally take the risk to talk to him.
This decision was not only due to her dire need for combat power, as they faced a desperate situation, but mainly because she was certain that, like Pei Yan, this man was not from the Disaster Legion but from the Hell Realm, eager to know about other planes.
"Hello, I am Sifuer, the current lord of the Kataraga Autonomous Territory. If I'm not mistaken, stranger, you come from another plane, right? Could you tell me which plane you are from?"
Pei Yan stared at the woman claiming to be a lord standing before him. The hard scales on his face clicked back inside, revealing snow-white skin and a fine appearance. The crimson light in his eyes gradually faded, replaced by sapphire-like brilliance. If not for the scales on her body and the twisted ram horns on her head, she didn't look much different from an ordinary Western girl in his world.
Listening to the translated words in his earpiece, Pei Yan's eyebrows twitched. Compared to the other three planes, the Hell Realm had the least contact and intelligence from the outside. Kataraga Autonomous Territory? He had never heard of it, but someone claiming to be a lord must be a noble, potentially offering a wealth of useful information. With this in mind, Pei Yan removed his face mask and forced a relatively friendly smile: "I come from the Keystone Plane; you can call me...."
As he spoke, Lin Junzhao's voice suddenly echoed in his mind, shouting, "Do not reveal your true name in this world!"
"You can call me Shitang Longsi. If that's a mouthful, just call me Shitang!" Though unaware of why Lin Junzhao warned him so, Pei Yan was sure there was some taboo here. Thinking of this, he smiled slightly before pausing to report his new alias.
"Shitang? Keystone Plane?" This time, it was Sifuer's turn to show a face full of shock. Before coming, she had speculated about Pei Yan's identity, believing he most likely came from the Magic Plane, as these powerful Steel Puppets resembled those crafted by Alchemists from that plane. While the Daoist Plane also hosted similar Mechanical Masters, their style didn't match the appearance of these puppets.
But no matter how she thought, she had never linked Pei Yan with the distant and insignificant Keystone Plane. In ancestral tales, wasn't that the wasteland between the four planes, paradise for the strong and hell for the weak? Could it be they became so powerful after all these years?
Despite being tremendously shocked internally, Sifuer managed to suppress her emotions and continued, "Then, Mr. Shitang, can I ask why you came from the Hell Realm?"
Anticipating this question, Pei Yan answered directly, "Not long ago—apologies, in your time translation, it would be a few months ago—a team from the Hell Realm broke through the Plane Barrier and arrived at the Keystone Plane. The investigation bureau noticed the situation here, and I was dispatched to gather intelligence for a clearer understanding."
"Someone broke through!" Joy flashed across Sifuer's face as she hurriedly asked, "How are they? Was it Guxin?"
Pei Yan shook his head regretfully, "I'm sorry, I don't know who they are, but their situation is dire. The entire team was almost wiped out, with only one survivor. He briefly relayed the situation in the Hell Realm before passing out, not managing to report his name."
"It's him! It must be him! Gu Xing did it!" Joy was written all over Sifuer's face. She then looked up at Pei Yan in surprise, asking, "Did they only send you alone? You haven't contacted any higher-ups from other planes, have you? Damn! I forgot you're from the Keystone Plane, the energy desert. No, no, you said you were from the Investigation Bureau! I've heard of this organization from my mother. As ant colony elites, you have the capability to connect with other planes, right? You've informed other planes about the situation here, haven't you?"
Though unhappy with Sifuer's reference to ant colony elites, Pei Yan restrained the urge to argue, nodded, and said, "Yes, they all know."
"And the reinforcements? Where are they?" Sifuer swallowed her saliva, looking at Pei Yan with renewed hope.
"I'm not sure if other planes have sent reinforcements. I only know that the investigation bureau sent only me, and as far as I know, at least before I left, other planes didn't have any intention to intervene," Pei Yan sincerely replied.
"How could this be? How could this be! You fools, do you not know what you are going to face? If the Hell Realm is devoured, the balance will be completely broken, and the other planes won't escape disaster either. Idiots! Can't they see it?"
Faced with Sifuer's outburst, Pei Yan took a few steps back, spread his hands, and soothed, "Calm down, calm down! Take it easy. We did send someone to investigate, didn't we? You can't expect us to join a war without any investigation. Although other planes haven't made big moves yet, they would surely send people to scout, right? The situation in the Hell Realm is of great importance to the Keystone Plane."
"Of great importance? And yet they only sent you?" Sifuer remarked sarcastically, then shook her head in bitter resignation. "Even if it's important to you, we never intended to ask for your help from the start. You're too weak."
Being underestimated repeatedly, Pei Yan's patience wore thin, and he retorted with a raised brow, "Oh, is that so? But it's not the weak ones being pathetic now, is it?"
Sifuer snorted coldly in response, scrutinizing Pei Yan from top to bottom and replied gravely, "Your puppets are indeed powerful. I suppose that's why your investigation bureau dared to send you alone. But regarding everything happening in this world and the circumstances you're about to face, you know nothing. The ones you're defeating are merely the lowest thralls of the Disaster Legion."
