Players Invade Cyberpunk

Chapter 148: You Stepped on My **_3

Players capable of being part of sniper teams are generally experts in firearms.

In the military, they'd be considered qualified snipers.

Of course, this is limited to their marksmanship and nothing else.

However, it wasn't long before their exposed sniper positions were subjected to simultaneous strafing by drones and armored vehicles, turning them into rubble.

The same scenes unfolded at various locations along the street, as Power Armor units were met with a devastating onslaught shortly after their appearance. Power Armor, once invincible in street brawls, found itself vulnerable against anti-material weapons hidden in the sewers.

Accompanied by the sounds of burning fires and explosions, players put on a symphony of fate in the district with guns and implants, turning the entire street into a blood-and-flesh grinder exclusively for Huang Ban.

Most importantly, in this city where Huang Ban has been present for nearly a decade, the ones with the advantage were the players.

A sewer manhole cover was pushed open, and Ru Xian Ru Zuo emerged like a mole, poking his head out and looking around. After ensuring no Huang Ban troops were nearby, he swiftly climbed out carrying a mortar barrel.

Following him were thirty or so players, who in just twenty minutes had relocated their position three times through the sewer pipes.

Each time they surfaced, they'd set up their artillery, fire a few rounds, and leave immediately, wasting no time.

In the sky, the swarm of drones dashed around like headless flies, yet never seemed to catch up with the players.

"Quick, quick, quick!"

In just a few short minutes, the mortar team set up their artillery within an abandoned factory.

And then, based on reports from nearby Stealth Department players, they immediately adjusted their angle.

Thunk! Thunk! Thunk!

With three more volleys, eighteen mortar rounds were fired.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The sound and flash of explosions directly engulfed the Huang Ban squad creeping along the street, and although the soldiers had approached the buildings, the armored vehicles were still blown into a heap of scrap metal.

Bang!

The captain couldn't remember how many times he slammed the table.

Disgusting.

Disgusting!

Wua!

This group was elusive like mice, impossible to catch, while the agents they dispatched underground were still getting lost, while the adversary already appeared on the other side of the street, setting up mortars and opening fire.

Having reached the end of his patience, he directly contacted the underground agent team.

"Where are you guys? Why haven't you found the artillery unit yet? Is your neural interface malfunctioning?"

The agents groping through the dark, dank sewers felt aggrieved.

This cursed place had no lights at night, twisting and turning like a maze, and Huang Ban hadn't even mapped the sewers, how could they possibly recognize the way?

Even the prosthetic eye's tracking scan was rendered useless under the muddy ground, making it impossible to locate the enemy.

"You're saying you can't find your way?"

Upon hearing his subordinate's reply, the captain nearly passed out from rage.

"Are you telling me those mercenaries new to Night City are familiar with Watson District's sewers?"

"Stop making excuses for your incompetence!"

The team leader, enduring the pungent stench of the sewer, tried to argue.

"Sir, I suspect this is a long-planned conspiracy against Huang Ban; surely they've scouted the terrain here, otherwise, they couldn't relocate so quickly."

"What good does saying that do now? Hurry and find them for me!"

After the captain's roar, the communication ceased, leaving the agents feeling highly aggrieved.

In Huang Ban, the higher-ups were always right, and if you thought otherwise, you'd be doomed.

They could only slowly fumble their way through the sewers.

Unbeknownst to them, someone in the darkness had already set their sights on them.

Whoosh—

The faint sound of a flying blade attracted the agents' attention, with one of them immediately activating Sianweistan, using his night vision implants to slice away the flying knife.

But here!

The players who had survived the Sewage Sea Maggot Battle were the ones with the territorial advantage!

"Noruyi! Noruyi!"

A loud, arrogant voice sounded from the shadows, followed by flying knives far more numerous than before, interspersed with bullets from silenced pistols.

The agents hurriedly sought cover to evade this sudden attack.

And from the mud beneath them, a hand suddenly reached out and grabbed the team leader's ankle.

In the leader's night vision, a human face floated up from the sludge!

And the face spoke!

"You're stepping on my **."

"?!!!"

Before he could fire a shot to blow away the face, another figure rose from the sludge on the other side, wielding a hatchet and struck his head.

The sharp axe blade split open his skull, hacking the neural components into a mess, sparks flew and he fell dead to the side.

In the dim sewer, intense gunfire rang out incessantly, the flash of firing pins the only source of light, accompanied by horrific screams at times, giving the major in the command vehicle goosebumps, the surveillance could only catch glimpses of blurred silhouettes through gunfire.

A few minutes later, the sewer fell into silence completely, and the screen went dark.

"Cat Squad? Cat Squad?"

No response to the call.

Damn it, what sort of lunatics had they encountered?

The captain swallowed some saliva and turned to the adjutant: "What's the current battle situation?"

The adjutant holding a tablet, showing the vital signs of each Huang Ban soldier, several of whom had already ceased to have a heartbeat.

"Currently, we've lost three Power Armors, two temporarily out of action, six armored vehicles, with 37 soldiers killed in action, multiple drones lost, and 46 enemies killed."

Nearly a one-to-one loss ratio...

This doesn't even account for the armored units; by the numbers alone, it's a distressingly ugly report.

The adjutant continued speaking.

"Our agents reported that these individuals seem well-versed in urban warfare, and their relocation speed is extremely fast; without utilizing heavy weaponry, the subsequent losses are likely to increase."
