As everyone began to stand, Lucas turned to Virallen, who was still seated.
"I don't know how this works, but can I… um… link with you?"
Looking back at his somewhat awkward expression, Virallen smiled. "Sure."
She extended her hand, and her Synap exited her palm, hovering over it calmly. Seeing Lucas just watching the device in wonder, she asked, "Where is your Synap—ah, you don't have one. What are we going to do then?"
"Oh, right." Snapped out of his daze, Lucas let a multicolored light flash from his outstretched palm, and his communicator appeared. "I just have this."
"I forgot you guys don't have Synaps… That makes this tough…" Virallen pouted as she saw Lucas's communicator.
Lucas looked down at his communicator in thought before saying, "I don't fully know how my communicator works. We could just try and see how it goes."
Virallen's eyes brightened as she took the device from Lucas. Her Synap glowed and beamed some type of Spirit energy to Lucas's communicator. The device buzzed, then chimed. Lucas raised his eyebrows. "It worked."
"Really?" Virallen asked in wonder, her eyes glowing as she observed the communicator intently.
"Yeah, it just told me so."
"The communicator?"
Lucas nodded. "Your stuff doesn't do that?"
Virallen shook her head, her gaze on the device filled with genuine wonder. Lucas suddenly felt a gentle nudge on his Mind. He turned to the door to see Sasha waving at him, Evélyne looming behind her. The sight caused Lucas to chuckle a little, drawing Virallen's attention.
"Do you know them?"
"Yeah, they are my… friends." Virallen locked eyes with Evélyne's apathetic gaze as he said that.
"They seem quite… friendly."
Lucas smiled. "I shouldn't bother you anymore, Vira. Catch you later."
"Yeah. Goodbye, Lucas."
With that, Lucas left for the door and met up with Evélyne and Sasha.
"Did you just make a friend, Sir Lucas?" Sasha asked as they walked, her tail swishing as she regarded him with wide golden eyes.
Though it didn't show, Lucas was familiar enough with Evélyne to know she perked up at the question as well.

'Living in that manor really screwed them over in the socialization department.'
With that thought, he shook his head.
"Nope. I just made an acquaintance. We may never talk to each other again after this."
Sasha was visibly confused, so she asked, "But you guys spoke and introduced yourselves. Isn't that how friendships are forged?"
Lucas nodded. "Most of the time that's enough, but things tend to get complicated in these situations. So you just have to learn from experience."
Both Sasha and Evélyne nodded sagely at this. Lucas smiled at their reaction.
'They don't get it.'
After walking for a bit, Lucas asked, "So which class should we go to next?"
"Combat class," Sasha offered as soon as the question was asked.
Evélyne smiled and stroked her hair. Lucas simply nodded. "Combat class it is."
The trio calmly walked through the academy's halls, students moving to and fro. In a few minutes, they found themselves at the entrance of the combat class.
Gazing through the aperture, the trio could see an expansive, paved training yard. It was enclosed by some low, violet grass. They could see a few students standing within while two teachers stood at the forefront: a muscular Beastkin man and a violet-haired Prismari woman.
The group headed in calmly and stood alongside the other students. As the class slowly got more and more filled, Lucas saw the familiar black-haired student. This time, they didn't react to his gaze and just kept walking into the class.
'Why does he seem so familiar? Really wish I could peek at his Spirit energy.'
When the class finally filled, the two teachers began the lesson. The Beastkin man stepped forward first. His short, dark brown hair glinted faintly under the room's unnatural light, and his deep voice carried easily across the yard. He was dressed in a fitting silver combat robe.
"Welcome, young ones. Today, you will all get an introduction to combat. I know the majority of you have some experience in this regard, but an old man like me still has a thing or two to teach you." He said with a confident smile. His posture and natural aura made the class subconsciously pay more attention to him.
He continued, "The essence of combat is quite simple. Use your strong points to attack your enemy's weaknesses. If the difference between the two isn't too vast, victory is guaranteed."
Seeing most of the Prismari students weren't grasping the concept, the Beastkin grumbled, but before he could speak again, the violet-haired Prismari spoke up, her pitch-black robes clashing with his.
"What Ulrik meant to say was, you can think of combat as a simple but strict game. We are here to teach you how to maximize each move you can make."
The students' eyes glowed with clarity. She continued, "Today, we are here to familiarize ourselves with each other. Pair up for some light sparring—no Spirit energy, advanced techniques, or Skills."
Fifteen circles appeared around the training field. With everyone pairing up, Lucas turned to the women to see them looking for partners. He nodded to himself and sought out the black-haired Prismari. It didn't take long for Lucas to find him.
"Hello, I'm Lucas. Would you mind sparring with me?"
The black-haired young man looked at Lucas for a few moments, his gaze became somewhat dazed. His left hand clenched like a vice before loosening as he brought it to his temple,
"Sure…"
Lucas frowned at this and moved closer. "Are you okay?"
The black haired youth smiled awkwardly as he brought his hand away from his head.
"Yeah… just had a random migraine. Don't worry though, I'm fine now. Let's head to a circle then, Lucas."
They smoothly got into one of the fifteen circles. Looking toward his friends, he could see Evélyne and Sasha were already sparring with their opponents. Lucas turned to his foe and got into his stance. He suddenly froze before relaxing his stance once more. Before the dark-haired young man could ask what the problem was, Lucas spoke first,
"I forgot to ask, what's your name?"
Comprehension struck the Prismari. "Ah, it completely slipped my mind as well. I am Flynt Rayce. It's a pleasure."
