The masked man, surprised, turned to look at the Wolf King. His expression changed instantly, and he ordered, "Don't engage! Swat it away!"

The Sand Whale beneath his feet swept its massive tail through the air, actually managing to swat the Wolf King away.

BOOM!

Then, accompanied by a tremendous crash, the group of Sand Whales vanished into the earth like lightning.

After steadying itself, the Wolf King prepared to give chase but then paused high in the air, gazing down at the devastated plain, its eyes filled with suspicion.

"Better let Xiao Qinzi take a look," it grumbled, pulling out an Image Crystal Stone.

Upon receiving the summons, Qin Feiyang immediately opened a portal and materialized above the plain.

"What on earth happened?"

Gazing at the gory scene below, Qin Feiyang's heart seethed with turmoil.

The Wolf King recounted the entire process in detail.

Qin Feiyang frowned. "Thank me?"

It seemed this masked man was someone he knew quite well.

But who could it be?

Why kill everyone else but leave Lu Feng and Lu Tingting alive?

The Wolf King suddenly said, "Xiao Qinzi, do you think these Sand Whales are the ones from the Death Desert?"

"Death Desert?" Qin Feiyang was puzzled.

The Wolf King said, "The Sand Whales that guard that valley."

The man and wolf dived down into a fissure.

But just as they entered the fissure, an old man in a voluminous red robe emerged from the dense forest on the other side.

His hair and beard were both fiery red, like a flickering flame.

If Qin Feiyang were here, he would have immediately recognized this man as the Grand Elder of the Dong Family.

The Grand Elder gazed out over the plain, a cold light flickering in his eyes.

He muttered to himself, "The Patriarch indeed guessed correctly; Qin Feiyang wouldn't let the Lu Family off.

"Even though he didn't kill these people, as long as this news is spread, it will become his doing whether it was or not.

"Little Bastard, you just wait! Even if our Dong Family leaves the State City, we won't let you have an easy time!"

He then opened a portal and swiftly departed.

「Meanwhile, Qin Feiyang and the Wolf King.」

They descended for a long time but found no abnormalities or any trace of movement.

Qin Feiyang frowned, then halted and said, "Sand Whales move very quickly underground. We definitely can't catch up by chasing. For now, we can only rely on your nose."

The burrowing beast, which could hear the commotion outside from within the ancient castle, emerged and glared at the man and wolf, its voice tinged with displeasure, "In your eyes, is digging tunnels all this king is good for?"

"Isn't it?" the Wolf King sneered. "You should be grateful you still possess some value."

The man and wolf leaped onto its back. The Wolf King sniffed the air carefully, then pointed to the left. "Follow the trail this way!"

The burrowing beast immediately unleashed its innate talent and sped off in pursuit.

「Some time passed.」

The Wolf King's pupils constricted. "Can't you go any faster?" he urged. "The scent is about to disappear completely!"

The burrowing beast retorted angrily, "This king is merely a Nine-Star War King! You're asking me to pursue a group of War Emperors. That's simply asking too much!"

"True, you are rather limited. Can't expect much from you," the Wolf King sighed.

"Damn it! Do you take this king for a sick cat just because I haven't shown my true power?" the burrowing beast roared, and a sharp fang materialized from thin air.

It was its Battle Soul!

The moment the fang appeared, it shot forward; earth and rock crumbled before it as if they were rotten wood!

Its speed was now at least four or five times faster than before!

The Wolf King was dumbstruck. The burrowing beast truly was incredible when it came to tunneling.

"I still suspect those Sand Whales are connected to the ones in the Death Desert," the Wolf King suggested. "Why don't we go take a look?"

Qin Feiyang pondered for a moment, then nodded. "Good, let's go take a look."

Previously, their strength had been insufficient, and they hadn't dared to linger in that valley.

The burrowing beast quickly retracted its Battle Soul, shrank to palm-size, and followed the Wolf King into the portal.

「In the next instant.」

Qin Feiyang and the two beasts materialized above a scorching desert.

The familiar temperature and environment brought a wave of nostalgia over Qin Feiyang and the Wolf King.

"Hmm?"

However, when they looked down, their expressions instantly stiffened.

What's going on?

Where's the valley?

The burrowing beast scanned the landscape below. Apart from an endless expanse of yellow sand and ferocious beasts, there was nothing. Puzzled, it asked, "Where is this valley you mentioned?"

The Wolf King asked, "Xiao Qinzi, are you sure you don't have the wrong location?"

"Impossible." Qin Feiyang shook his head.

"You two wait here. I'll go look," the Wolf King said, then transformed into a streak of light and vanished.

Qin Feiyang took the burrowing beast and ascended high into the sky. He ascended, knowing the higher one flew, the farther one could see.

Yet, even after ascending ten thousand feet into the sky, he still saw no trace of the valley.

What's going on? Qin Feiyang couldn't help but frown. Could it be because of Elder Wan?

Back then, only he, the White-Eyed Wolf, Ling Yunfei, Feng Ling'er, and Elder Wan had ever been to this valley.

He took out an Image Crystal Stone and quickly activated it.

「After a while.」

An elderly figure materialized.

"Ah! Why is it you?" Elder Wan exclaimed, looking at Qin Feiyang in surprise.

Qin Feiyang chuckled, "Elder Wan, how have you been lately?"

"Eating well, sleeping soundly," Elder Wan replied. "But you, I heard from Yan Nanshan that you're doing very well in the State Office! When are you going to look out for this old man, eh?" Elder Wan teased.

Qin Feiyang shook his head with a chuckle. "Elder Wan, I've contacted you today because there's something I'd like to ask."

"What is it?" Elder Wan asked.

Qin Feiyang said, "Do you remember the valley in the Death Desert?"

"Of course, I remember. What about it?" Elder Wan nodded, looking at him quizzically.

"I'm here right now, but the valley has disappeared. Do you know what happened?" Qin Feiyang asked, his brow furrowed.

"What? You're in the Death Desert?" Elder Wan exclaimed in surprise.

Qin Feiyang nodded.

"Well then," Elder Wan chuckled, "you must come to Yan City later to catch up with us."

"I'll see. If I have time, I'll go," Qin Feiyang replied.

Elder Wan nodded with a chuckle. "That's true. After all, you're a man of importance now, undoubtedly busy with official matters."

"Er!" Qin Feiyang was taken aback and gave a wry smile. "Elder Wan, could you please answer my question first?"

Elder Wan said, "That valley vanished a long time ago."

"Vanished a long time ago?" Qin Feiyang was startled.

"That's right," Elder Wan said. "After I escorted you all back then, Yan Nanshan and I went there again. But when we arrived, the valley was already gone. We searched the surrounding area thoroughly but still found nothing. In the end, we had to give up."

"How could such a large valley suddenly disappear without a trace?" Qin Feiyang asked in disbelief.

The Wolf King returned, shaking his head. "Couldn't find it."

"No need to search anymore. The valley disappeared long ago." Qin Feiyang briefly told the Wolf King what Elder Wan had said.

"What? Something like that happened?" the Wolf King grumbled indignantly. "That damned old geezer! Why didn't he tell us sooner? We made this trip for nothing!"

The burrowing beast said, "From the sound of it, those Sand Whales that appeared in Spirit State might really be connected to that mysterious valley."

"Don't jump to conclusions until we know more," Qin Feiyang said. "You two go to the ancient castle first. I have some personal matters to attend to."

With a wave of his hand, Qin Feiyang sent the Wolf King and the burrowing beast into the ancient castle, then opened a teleportation portal and stepped inside.

「The next moment.」

He appeared silently inside a room.

The room was simply furnished.

To the left stood a screen, with a bed faintly visible behind it.

To the right, there was a wooden tea table and chairs.

Nearby was also a writing desk.

At the desk sat a beautiful woman in a white dress. She held a ledger, her head lowered as she quietly read. She appeared dignified, virtuous, and graceful.

It was Lo Qianxue.
