Demonic Skeleton God

Chapter 152: Mission

Flain, in the first advantage, preferred the second option, but both of them still had a second advantage.

In the first option, the second advantage was quite good. Flain, in his full state of aggression, could break through the enemy's defense more easily, which was quite good. In the second option, it wasn't as good — if he chose it, in the state of aggression, he could be flawlessly precise.

Which, for Flain, was a minimal advantage since, in the state of aggression, he always fought as close as possible, and his swords were long enough that 99% of his attacks hit.

So, from the very beginning, Flain liked the first option.

[+Winged Boots]

The darkness withdrew, and Flain appeared back in his basement. In his hands were sturdy pale-yellow boots with small white wings on the sides.

\[Winged Boots: Boots that can temporarily increase speed significantly. After use, they require a week for operational activation; the effect lasts one hour.]

Flain examined the boots — he had obtained a rather good piece of equipment. Not only would his enemies now be slower, but he could also become faster. But the color of the boots didn't match the rest of his armor set.

So he pulled the corpses of the generals from his Inventory — since time does not pass in the inventory, they were still fresh. Flain then made a long cut along their bodies and soaked the boots in their blood so they became completely red.

"Fire Lance," he said.

A fiery spear appeared in his hand, which he placed against their skin so it would blacken. He then wrapped the skin around the boots, except for the wings, which he left red. Now he no longer had to worry about the color.

He put his old boots into the inventory and put on the new ones.

Due to the demonic apple, he was now much more conspicuous because of his ME. This could easily be solved with the Necklace of Deception, but it was crucial for the Doppelgänger mission, so for now, Flain would have to deal with it another way.

And one possibility immediately presented itself — it could be an innate ability, a very weak innate ability.

At the beginning of the academy, Flor had said that there was a chance Flain could have remained in his skeleton form, since back then Flain used the Necklace of Deception to create a human form, which had its flaws. But it was very unlikely, since the army tests every person born in the Empire of Light, and because there are not many, they can remember each one easily.

But what if Eran Girflodor, a.k.a. Flain, had a minor innate ability that simply colored his ME dark pink? The Empire of Light, after a few tests, would not pay much attention to it and would label it as a small anomaly.

This scenario would be much easier to fake than claiming that Flain's innate ability was the power to transform into a skeleton, something that almost no one was aware of until he entered the academy.

At the academy, no one can see the ME of others except for the teachers and random Enlightened who don't wear a uniform.

Flor was currently creating a fake past for Flain and Itai, so it was the perfect opportunity to tell him. Flain therefore took out the Night Communicator and called him.

Flor picked up, and Flain explained how he obtained the dark purple ME and his plan to hide it.

"Hmmm, you're already Mid Stage 3, catching up to me, but that's understandable since after death you retain your power. Anyway, your scenario is quite good, consider it arranged," said Flor.

"Anyway, what do you plan to do for the remaining month?" he asked.

"I'll be upgrading Transparent Wings to Stage 2," said Flain.

"I see, you still owe me for that armor and the Night Communicator. If you'd like to repay your debt, I have a small mission for you."

"Speak," said Flain. Their alliance was based on lawful support, and Flain hadn't really repaid Flor at all.

Although Flain could simply use Flor and reap only benefits, Flor was not stupid, and there was a chance they could fall out. That would be a major disadvantage for Flain, since he gained a lot from Flor and knew that Flor considered him a significant investment for the future.

"It's simple, but the journey will be longer. You'll receive a complete map with notes containing all the necessary information and a few additional points of interest. Anyway, I need you to bring me the corpses of two White Wolf Ikari. Ikari are a race similar to humans with animal features, for example, the White Wolf Ikari have white ears and a wolf tail."

"Do not attack directly; they are in a tribe, and their chieftain is Stage 5, so you wouldn't stand a chance. Just observe them, and when two separate from the rest, kill them and deliver them to me. How to hide your magical energy from them will be explained in the notes," Flor explained.

Flain considered it. The hardest part would be the ambush. Since those Ikari are in a tribe, they won't be very intelligent, so catching two alone should be easy. As for ME, Flor said everything was explained in the notes, so if it works, there shouldn't be any problem.

"I accept. Approximately how long will the journey take?" he asked.

"Approximately three weeks, maybe less, it depends on circumstances. Anyway, in the notes, you'll find information about all the places you'll pass through. You can linger somewhere if you wish, just make sure you arrive within a month if you want to go to the academy. The package with everything you need is already at your door," Flor finished.

Flain opened the door, and indeed, there was a package. He picked it up and quickly opened it. Inside was a map with a marked route and a bundle of papers with notes. Flain examined it and began studying…
