Supreme Heir Son-in-law

Chapter 697: Stubborn and Unenlightened

This 'Director Xing' sounded extremely sarcastic in Xing Yujun's ears, "I'm just someone who's recently gone bankrupt, definitely undeserving of Director Xu's 'Director Xing.' Murdering someone doesn't require much effort, Director Xu, I suggest you be a bit more benevolent."

"I believe I've always been quite benevolent," Xu Ke said, touching his chin, pretending to be deep in thought.

Xing Yujun let out a cold laugh, the murderous intent in her eyes becoming even more intense.

"If you came here today just for these matters, then you've accomplished your mission now, and you can leave. I have my own things to do and no time to entertain you," Xu Ke said, noticing that Xing Yujun was just staring at him with a gaze full of hatred, not making any extraneous moves from start to finish. He felt a sense of impatience growing towards her, unwilling to continue standing in the corridor like an idiot wasting his time.

Xing Yujun heard Xu Ke's words and remained silent, like a mute.

Seeing that she really had nothing to say, Xu Ke intended to return to his room, but a sudden change occurred. No one knew when Xing Yujun had hidden a small knife used for Western dining on her person, whose blade had been specially sharpened, making it exceptionally sharp.

The silver-white blade reflected the hotel lights, casting a streak of white light across Xing Yujun's face, but the shine of the light piercing Xing Yujun's eyes didn't cause even the slightest flinch in her eyelashes.

She focused all her mind and attention on the current matter, and her top priority was to make the man in front of her suffer.

Xing Yujun aimed her knife at Xu Ke's back, though she aimed not at his heart but at the area near his kidneys.

Xing Yujun's movements were extremely quick, but Xu Ke's actions were even quicker. Just as Xing Yujun was certain she would succeed, another large hand clamped down on hers, stopping the knife tip just a finger's width away from Xu Ke's body, a chasm she couldn't cross even with all her might.

"I've been waiting for you to make a move for quite some time. I almost thought you were going to give up today," Xu Ke said, turning around with a slightly raised curve on his lips.

"How did you know I was going to attack you?" Xing Yujun hadn't expected to be subdued so easily, feeling unwilling and curious in her heart.

"Your intention to kill me might as well be written on your face with a pen. How could I not know?" Xu Ke said, somewhat amused, looking at Xing Yujun with eyes that truly lacked warmth.

Xing Yujun's expression was slightly stiff, clearly not expecting the reason for her exposure to be like this. Her expression, for a moment, was as if a palette had been knocked over, full of colors, quite spectacular.

"Now that I'm in your hands, kill or torture me however you like," Xing Yujun said after composing her expression and her complex feelings, looking at Xu Ke.

The knife in her hand had already been taken away by Xu Ke, who now toyed with the specially sharpened prop with a faintly smiling gaze fixed on Xing Yujun.

"Logically, for someone harboring murderous intent towards me, I wouldn't let them off easily. But you're in luck. I'm in a good mood today and don't want to quibble with you, so today, you're lucky," Xu Ke said, the knife spinning lightly in his fingers.

Xu Ke released his grip on Xing Yujun's hand, tilting his head to look at her.

Xing Yujun didn't expect Xu Ke to really be prepared to let her go, "I'm really leaving." She took a cautious step back and, seeing that Xu Ke showed no intention of stopping her, her expression finally relaxed.

Xu Ke confiscated Xing Yujun's knife, apparently intending to turn back into his room, but suddenly, just when he was about to, Xing Yujun unexpectedly lunged forward, rapidly closing the distance between them, and quickly plunged another knife into Xu Ke's body. This time, Xu Ke didn't manage to dodge.

The sound of the blade penetrating flesh brought an entranced expression to Xing Yujun's face.

Warm liquid flowed along the direction of the wound, and Xing Yujun pushed the knife further into Xu Ke's body, "You were too arrogant, really. What makes you think I'd only bring one weapon to find you, and what makes you think I'd give up after failing once? Ha, if you die by my hands today, remember not to so easily trust a woman in your next life, and try not to meet me again."

Xing Yujun's face hadn't finished recovering from the exhilaration when the small knife slipped from her hand once more, ending up again in Xu Ke's possession. This time, his expression was icy, entirely devoid of the earlier smile.

"How can it be like this?" Xing Yujun looked at her empty hand, incredulously remarking, not daring to believe she'd let it slip away again.

She opened her hand, revealing nothing but the blood previously smeared on it.

Perhaps due to the blood loss, Xu Ke's lips were pale, his face excessively white.

The wound from Xing Yujun's initial stab wasn't shallow, and with her further plunging it in, half of the blade was embedded in. Though Xu Ke seized the weapon while Xing Yujun was off guard, the injury couldn't simply disappear. Moreover, by pulling the handle out without caution, his clothing clung damply to his body, feeling unpleasant. Yet more so was Xu Ke's worsening complexion.

"You're truly choosing the hard way, ignoring the easy one. I offered you a way out, and yet you walked right into my line of fire. Didn't I give you a chance to live? I was ready to let you go, but since you don't cherish it, don't blame me for taking it back," Xu Ke's voice was like shattered ice, the hotel's temperature seemingly normal, yet Xing Yujun felt a chill enveloping her.

This time, Xing Yujun made no delay. Seeing the change in Xu Ke's demeanor, she turned to flee, only to have Xu Ke grab her collar first. As Xu Ke lifted her collar, it pressed against Xing Yujun's throat, forcing her to retreat under Xu Ke's force.

"What? You think you can just leave after stabbing me? You must think I'm utterly incapable," Xu Ke's voice was not loud. Due to the excessive blood loss, his body began to falter, feeling faint, eyes blackening, and speaking too loudly would expose his weakened state.

Additionally, with Xing Yujun doing such a thing for the first time, caught by the victim, her mind was in a fog, failing to notice Xu Ke's malaise and missing the best opportunity to escape.
