Dimensional Hotel

Chapter 298: Coming Again

After listening to Xuan Che's words, Yu Sheng couldn't help but think a bit more and developed some guesses about the activities of the Venerate Saints Monastery in the Boundary Land.

However, a faint sound suddenly appearing in the mist interrupted his thoughts.

"Splat," it sounded like someone stepping into a puddle of water.

Yu Sheng instantly turned toward the direction of the sound but only saw the milky mist gently undulating not far away.

There was only dry ground all around, no puddles, let alone someone walking through the mist stepping in water.

Yet the more it was like this, the more vigilant Yu Sheng became.

An abnormal sound in a visibly normal environment could only mean that something "illogical" was gradually approaching.

"The sky is getting darker," Hu Li muttered beside him.

Prompted by the demon fox girl's reminder, Yu Sheng immediately noticed the change in the sky.

When they left, the real Boundary City was still broad daylight, so this "Mist City," which perpetually "corresponds" to the real Boundary City, was also daytime. Despite the pervasive fog, the sky still showed an evident brightness. But at some point, that bright sky was rapidly growing dim.

It was as if thick clouds had draped over this dense fog.

Yu Sheng furrowed his brow, and just then, he heard the strange noise again: splat.

The sound of footsteps in puddles reappeared, and this time closer!

Almost simultaneously with this round of footsteps, a second and third sound followed!

Splat, splat, the suddenly dense footsteps came from multiple directions, some near, some far.

A vague intuition arose from within, and Yu Sheng abruptly turned his head to look at the mist a few meters away. Almost at that moment, another footstep came from that direction, and this time, he finally saw some trace.

Near-transparent splashes of water appeared in the mist, as if a creature from another dimension, unseen by the naked eye, stepped on invisible puddles, splashing into the current dimension's mist.

The instant Yu Sheng saw that slight trace, a barely audible whooshing sound suddenly came. Something was lunging fiercely.

Yu Sheng only saw a near-transparent, slightly distorted shadow in the mist.

In a hurry, he raised the stick in his hand, swinging it horizontally forward. Immediately he sidestepped, using just the fleeting image he had seen, and kicked into the air!

The Wolf Fang Club seemed to have hit something; he saw bright sparks erupt in the air, a great counterforce numbing his palm, but he successfully halted the rushing enemy. Its figure stalled and was unavoidably kicked by Yu Sheng.

Yu Sheng felt as if he had kicked a piece of metal.

The next second, he realized his judgment was correct—his powerful strike broke through some "invisible" state of the attacker, and a "knight" entirely clad in heavy brass armor suddenly materialized in mid-air, flying horizontally before crashing with a thud and shattering into loose armor pieces on the ground.

Seeing this, Yu Sheng was shocked on the spot: "What the hell is this?!"

But what happened next was even stranger.

The brass armor that shattered into pieces lay quietly for barely a few seconds before a large amount of pitch-black, viscous, swamp-like, foul-smelling material suddenly flowed from it, writhing and undulating like some sort of soft-bodied creature. After leaving the armor, it emitted a nauseating sound as it rapidly coalesced, shakily rising into a hunched humanoid form, and then—

Then a massive Fox Carrot fireball (a huge mass of Fox Fire) came whistling over, incinerating the humanoid sludge to ashes.

"What on earth is that!" Yu Sheng's shoulder puppet cried out in shock, "Such disgusting stuff flowed out of that shell!"

"How would I know what this is," Yu Sheng shouted, simultaneously keeping a close watch on the seemingly motionless brass armor and the sludge burnt to ashes, constantly adjusting his stance to prepare for the next attack, "I should have brought Little Red Riding Hood along, she knows more!"

"She's in class right now—it's her senior year!"

Yu Sheng was about to say something when suddenly, footsteps filled with killing intent interrupted him, and soon after, the sound of cutting through the air began to tear apart the surrounding mist.

It seemed the death of the first attacker enraged the "Brass Knights" that were invisible in the mist. They finally launched a dense attack after merely adjusting their encirclement earlier, and with the appearance of illusory water splashes from within the mist, nearly transparent figures lunged from all sides!

Yu Sheng only had time to shout "Watch out!" before he had to focus on swinging the Wolf Fang Club in his hand to face the enemies before him.

The next moment, a dense black web-like thread suddenly exploded from his side. These threads silently wove through the mist, covering every area where enemy presence or strange sounds appeared.

The sprawling spider webs swept through the air indiscriminately, and even if the enemies were invisible, they were touched and tangled by the sweeping Spider Silk. With just one touch, Erin could cause at least a few seconds of interference and delay. The disrupted "Brass Knights" were halted in their charge, some stumbling, some suddenly frozen in place, and with these disturbances, their concealment effect was instantly weakened. One by one, semi-transparent phantoms like glass sculptures covered in water film appeared in the air.

Yu Sheng seized the perfect opportunity by directly swinging the Wolf Fang Club to smash a suddenly slowed enemy in front of him.

The heavy and sturdy brass armor disintegrated in the air, the viscous black substance bursting out like mud squeezed from a container.

Hu Li fiercely pounced at another armor that appeared midair, kicking it away first, then closing in to grab its arm for a fierce pull, followed by the helmet, thick chest plate, and legs. She almost instantly relied on beast-like brute force to dismantle the armor into pieces. Her Fox Fire then exploded behind her; scorching flames burned all the muddy substance around her into ashes.

Alongside this, a chill suddenly enveloped the battlefield, accompanied by a clear metallic clang.

Yu Sheng instinctively looked in the direction of the sound and saw Xuan Che stepping forward, a sword emitting a faint blue chill appearing in his hand without knowing when. The blade sliced through the air, instantly freezing the surrounding thick mist into countless fine ice crystals that fell to the ground.

Frozen air spread from Xuan Che's center, extending across the mist.

Yu Sheng was instantly captivated by this scene, instinctively thinking—No wonder he cultivates immortality, look at these special effects!

He then saw Xuan Che step forward, casually flicking the sword emitting cold breath, yet it did not fly toward the enemy. Instead, as if with spirituality, it floated behind him. He then raised his hand to form seals, quickly drawing several golden talismans in the air, his other hand turning over midair, somehow grabbing more than a dozen various pills and throwing them into his mouth...

Yu Sheng: "…?"

The next moment, he saw various colors of radiance rising continuously from Xuan Che's body. With each pill taken, the gathered radiance around him seemed to strengthen a bit. Then Xuan Che quickly produced talisman papers out of nowhere, scattering them into the air, the papers self-igniting midair, transforming into glowing streams encircling his body. Before the talisman papers finished burning, Xuan Che pulled out another handful of pills, tossing them into his mouth as if money was no concern...

After several cycles of these actions in the blink of an eye, he finally stopped and stood before a Brass Knight suspended midair by Spider Silk. He then slightly bent his knees, raised his hand, gathered energy, and delivered a simple and unpretentious straight punch.

Yu Sheng heard a very muffled "puff" sound, which sounded like someone had blown a puff of dust away, followed by a strange, low humming.

The dense mist shrouding the entire district instantly dispersed; a gentle breeze brushed his face. Seven or eight Brass Knights in front of Xuan Che, along with a building further away, were blown to disappearance.

Yu Sheng even suspected the space in the distance twisted slightly, as he saw vague and suspicious cracking patterns appearing in the air.

But he had no time to marvel at the absurdly cool straight punch delivered by the opponent.

As the surrounding mist dispersed and many Brass Knights emerged from the air due to the aftermath of that punch, he suddenly sensed a presence—it was from some of his split blood.

It's the "Artificial Saintess!"

This presence attacked with astonishing speed, almost instantly teleporting from some hiding place to nearby. Yu Sheng managed only to lift his head toward the source of the presence when he saw a pitch-black shadow suddenly appear in the air about ten meters away, and a familiar, tall and slender "steel" puppet leapt from the shadow, gracefully like dancing, yet swiftly like lightning, striking fiercely toward Xuan Che, who had yet to retract his punch.

So swift was this moment, as the puppet's sharp, deadly blades approached Xuan Che's back, he blurred his shape, transforming into a bolt of light that flashed several meters away. Simultaneously, several dazzling and scorching beams shot from Yu Sheng's side, aggressively sweeping toward the attacking "Artificial Saintess."

Pro version Erin had not acted before, as she knew those Brass Knights were peculiar but not opponents for Yu Sheng and Hu Li, especially with Xuan Che, who seemed quite capable, present. Yu Sheng had said the "Artificial Saintess" might be lurking nearby. She knew her current body had limited energy, so she forcefully held back until now.

Facing this sudden and unfamiliar attack, the Artificial Saintess reacted swiftly—she dodged aside instantly, twisting her joints to near-breaking limits, managing to narrowly evade most of the beams.

But one beam struck her side.

Fox Fire hit only leaving a black mark; the armor shell that could withstand various small and medium caliber firepower and was immune to most spells was directly punctured by this "Erin's Beam."
