Dimensional Hotel

Chapter 51 Awakening

It's not over yet.

Just as Hu Li's voice fell, Yu Sheng realized what she meant by "It's not over."

He heard the chaotic roars rising and falling in the dense forest, the sudden echoes of terrifying and hollow winds in the valley, and the eerie, sinister atmosphere pervading the Exotic Realm did not diminish with the demise of the Blood Flesh Giant Beast. Instead, it suddenly intensified several times. A heavy, almost stagnant malice and sense of being watched surged wildly from all directions, as if something had been awakened and was falling into a frenzy.

"What the hell is this?!" Yu Sheng turned to the demon fox girl, who seemed to know something, and quickly asked.

"I don't know, but it, it has appeared before," Hu Li said with a face full of fear and anxiety, while hiding behind Yu Sheng, "The Immortal, the day he died, it was like this, something woke up, the Immortal took the remaining people out, outside, and never returned, later only corpses were found..."

The demon fox girl shivered slightly, her head lowered, "Mom and Dad... hid me in a cave, wouldn't let me see outside, I don't know, what it was, I crawled out, and everyone was already dead..."

Yu Sheng quickly understood the situation from Hu Li's jumbled and incomplete narration.

The truly terrifying thing in this valley was not the Blood Flesh Giant Beast!

Or rather, it was not just the Blood Flesh Giant Beast – something even more powerful lay dormant in the depths of this darkness, and from the time he and Erin entered the valley, that thing was probably already gradually awakening.

Yu Sheng gritted his teeth, quickly weighed his options, and immediately ran towards Erin who was not far away.

"We can't keep fighting," Yu Sheng said quickly, "There's something even more sinister in this valley – Plan B: we pull out first, I'll open the portal. How are you? Can you still move?"

Erin tried to prop herself up on her hands, attempting to stand, but as soon as she exerted any strength, a soft crack was heard. Her arms broke off at the elbow, and the severed parts fell to the ground, shattering to pieces.

"No, and my legs are damaged too, if I try to stand they might break off as well," the little living doll lamented, lifting her arm, "I told you what you built wasn't sturdy... you must have mixed sand into the clay..."

Honestly, Yu Sheng was truly startled at the sight of Erin's arms breaking, as he had never dealt with living dolls before, and was unaware how serious this was. But hearing Erin's complaints, he was instantly reassured, "So it can be fixed, right?"

Erin nodded, "Yes, but we definitely need to go back."

Yu Sheng breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing that Erin was unable to stand on her own, he unfastened the painting frame from the little doll's back, adjusted the ropes, and carried it on his own back. Then he reached out to lift Erin into his arms, letting her sit on his left arm.

Erin protested a little, seeming to find this somewhat humiliating, but the armless living doll had no intimidating force, and finally had to comply, quietly sitting on Yu Sheng's arm.

Yu Sheng, using his free right hand, reached into the air. After a brief concentration, a door shimmering with illusory light appeared at the end of his arm.

He noticed that the three strangers who had suddenly appeared (one of the young men looked somewhat familiar for some reason) were casting strange looks his way at the moment the door was conjured.

But he didn't have time to think any further. Once he confirmed the portal was established, he pulled open the illusory door.

On the other side of the door was the living room of No. 66 Wutong Road.

"The safe passage is here, everyone, retreat quickly," Yu Sheng spoke urgently, "Before that creature regenerates!"

He looked at the demon fox girl standing not far away, looking nervous and hesitant, "Hu Li, you go first – don't be afraid, just on the other side is a safe place."

Then he turned to Li Lin and the other two, "You three, I don't know who you are, but thanks for the help earlier – follow me when it's time to go."

Encouraged by Yu Sheng, Hu Li finally mustered the courage to approach and walked towards the illusory door.

However, just as she was about to step into the portal, an eerie howling came from not far away. Following that, Yu Sheng felt a gust of wind strike from behind!

Countless pieces of information flashed through his mind instantly – several gazes focusing on the ruins of the ruined temple, perspectives extending from the distant sky and deep within the valley, a chaotic and cold touch, and... the joy of an imminent feast.

Yu Sheng turned around sharply and saw a Blood Flesh Giant Beast, that had appeared at the edge of the ruins at some unknown time, its midsection gruesomely splitting open as a tongue-like projectile shot out, piercing his chest in the blink of an eye.

He only had time to push Erin to the side, with no chance to dodge, he was struck through the heart by the attack.

Has the monster already regenerated? So fast? Or is it... another one?

Yu Sheng's mind quickly sank into darkness as several questions flashed through it, and he heard the fearful cries of Hu Li, Erin's screams, and the howling of the Wolf Pack next to his ear.

The illusory gate in mid-air flickered twice and quickly dissipated, while Yu Sheng's body fell backward. In his skewed and darkening field of vision, he saw layers of shadows undulating at the edge of the rubble. Deep within each trembling shadow, a Blood Flesh Giant Beast was slowly forming, countless greedy maws opening across the valley. Feeding tentacles filled the nearby woods, sharp fangs and teeth grew on distant mountain peaks, and the sky... was gradually splitting open a narrow gap at the edge.

"Savior!!" Hu Li was the first to rush over, throwing herself beside Yu Sheng. Although she had seen him die and come back to life before, her mind, already muddled, apparently didn't catch on immediately. Seeing Yu Sheng fall, her first reaction was still panic, "You you you... what happened to you..."

"What else could it be, he looks dead!" Erin's loud babbling quickly interrupted the demon fox girl's cries as the little living doll fell to the ground, struggling to move, "You must have seen this before, calm down!"

Hu Li then snapped to attention, her sluggish and confused mind slowly coming to a realization, and then she stared dumbly at Yu Sheng's body.

The demon fox girl frowned, her face wearing an expression as if she wanted to cry, but knowing there was no need to, yet feeling it would be unforgivable not to cry for the Savior in this atmosphere—only to feel even more unforgivable were she to actually weep.

Li Lin, unaware of Yu Sheng's situation, tensed up instantly upon seeing the nearby Blood Flesh Giant Beast. He guarded against the creature's next move while comforting the fallen living doll and the demon fox beside him: "I'm sorry, but the dead cannot be revived—what's urgent is dealing with..."

He was cut off mid-sentence when the woeful living doll replied, "No worries, he'll revive soon—but we need to hang on for twenty or thirty minutes until he comes back to open the door. You, the fox, help me up, and don't forget the painting on the ground."

Hu Li hurriedly pulled out the oil painting frame that was trapped underneath Yu Sheng's body and then held the immobile Erin in her arms.

However, Li Lin and the others watched this scene with astonishment, unable to comprehend the living doll's reaction, even suspecting it to be a form of excessive grief.

But they soon had no extra energy to pay attention to such matters.

A series of chaotic roars erupted from the darkness near the ruined temple, a palpable madness continuously emerging, such that even the battle-hardened Xu Jiali stiffened upon sizing up the surroundings.

The ferocious monsters, stacked from blood and flesh, were forming one after another in the darkness.

The roars filled the entire valley.

"Holy shit!" Li Lin exclaimed in shock, "How could so many pop up?! Didn't the reports say only one Hunger Entity is generated at a time?!"

Xu Jiali slowly lifted her head, swallowing hard before breaking the silence: "What if this valley has been parasitized by the 'Angel'..."

"What do you mean..." Li Lin started to ask subconsciously, but then he noticed where Xu Jiali's gaze was directed.

He saw it—the valley was slowly undulating in the veil of night.

Sharp teeth-like structures appeared on the contour of the distant mountains.

But more terrifying than that was the sky—it had opened.

The sky of the Exotic Realm, which was always in a state of chaotic darkness as if covered by a thick curtain, was changing. A crack slowly formed at the edge of everyone's vision, a faint light appearing in the gap, followed by the truth behind the curtain.

That was no curtain, nor was it a blanket of dark clouds.

It was an eyelid.

An eye that had always been closed, covering the entire sky above the Exotic Realm, causing its eternal night.

Now it had opened, the eyeball coldly gazing down upon everything below, its hollow and indented pupil filled with chaotic lines and flickering lights as if carefully scrutinizing the prey in the valley. The light it cast even partly dispelled the everlasting darkness of the Exotic Realm—the "Light" had Descended, bestowing infinite terror.

A howling, cold wind snapped Li Lin out of his fear, and he heard a murmured voice beside him.

It was Xu Jiali, the veteran deep diver with over a decade of service, muttering a term under her breath—

"Dark Angel…"
