Dimensional Hotel

Chapter 95 Transfer

"You said these things wouldn't attack us proactively, didn't you?" In the midst of a dangerous skirmish, Yu Sheng dodged a "plastic" baton that whooshed past his face, then turned to shout at Little Red Riding Hood, who was commanding the Wolf Pack to counter-attack at his side.

The plastic Security Guard's baton clashed against the wall nearby, emitting a series of dazzling sparks and a sound akin to metal striking stone.

Yu Sheng quickly grabbed the arm of the plastic Security Guard and forcefully pinned it to the ground, then forcefully broke its arm, but did not directly snap its waist or twist off its head like before.

Because during the brief exchange, he noticed a pattern - once these plastic figurines are truly smashed into pieces or sustain certain damage, they would immediately trigger their "repair" mechanism. Within a few seconds, they could recover as good as new; whereas simply breaking their limbs reduces their threat significantly without triggering the repair.

"I don't know what's going on either!" Little Red Riding Hood held her ground with the Wolf Pack in one corner of the exhibition hall, retreating while fighting off the oncoming "physical-Security Guards," and shouted back hastily, "I'm certain we haven't violated any of the Museum's rules along the way; under normal circumstances, these Guards shouldn't even appear!"

Yu Sheng opened his mouth to say something more, but suddenly heard a rush of hurried footsteps coming from the corridor at the end of the exhibition hall.

One after another, wobbly comic figures ran out from the corridor.

Erin's black "Spider Silk" had just trapped two plastic figures that pounced on her, but before she could catch a breath, she heard movement from the direction of the corridor and turned to look, crying out in alarm: "Shit... More are coming!? Do these entities keep spawning endlessly?!"

"Endless spawning—until the night show is over or all performers are dead," Little Red Riding Hood quickly explained, "or find a way to escape from all the Security Guards' line of sight, which can temporarily stop the Museum from dispatching more Guards—they only actively move to search for invaders when they're just spawned; once the invader disappears from their line of sight, they'll stand still. On the other hand, as long as they can see you, more entities will keep appearing around you!"

Hearing this, Yu Sheng immediately looked up, his gaze fixating on the only door leading outside the exhibition hall, other than the corridor path.

However, the door was already occupied by plastic figures; there was neither a blind spot in their line of sight nor a gap to break through in the exhibition hall.

They couldn't keep entangled here anymore.

"Retreat first! To a place without 'Security'!" Yu Sheng quickly thought it through and shouted to the others, then quickly ran towards Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf Pack, "Converge towards me—Hu Li, clear out a space! Block that corridor temporarily!"

Hu Li promptly responded, and with a "buzz," her Fox Tail burst open.

Great swathes of eerie and dangerous Fox Fire blazed around her tails, spreading like a ring and rapidly deforming several approaching plastic figures. Then the demon fox girl suddenly spun around—two silvery-white tails burst forth with strong propulsive flashes, detaching from the demon fox's body and roaring and screeching towards the corridor not far away.

"Fox Radish Missiles!" Hu Li shouted commandingly.

Before her words fell, a ferocious explosion occurred in the corridor. Even the stronghold of the Exotic Realm shook violently under the impact of the great demon's twin tails; a corner of the hall was blown apart, the walls near the corridor collapsed, completely burying the gap that continuously spawned "Security."

But in just the next second, the rubble began trembling violently; the steel and concrete wriggled as if alive, attempting to restore themselves, while pairs of hands and feet dressed in Security Guard uniforms burst through the crumbling bricks and mortar, and the raggedy plastic figures struggled horrifyingly to free themselves from the rubble and continued to drill into the hall.

However, for Yu Sheng, those few seconds were enough.

He carried Erin on his shoulder and pulled open a flickering, illusory magic door with one hand: "This way out!"

For him, there was no such thing as an encirclement without gaps. Even if he might not win a fight, he was confident he could always escape.

With trust in Yu Sheng, Little Red Riding Hood didn't hesitate to lead the Wolf Pack straight through the door, followed by Hu Li who also backed off. Just before entering the magic door, she once again grabbed one of her tails, aimed the tip at the remaining "physical-Security Guards" still swarming crazily towards them, and shot out bursts of small Fox Fires like bullets from a machine gun: "Da da da da da—"

"Fox Carrot Machine Gun!" The demon fox girl shot while finding a moment to glance at Yu Sheng and said rapidly.

Yu Sheng: "What kind of names are these—hurry up and get in!"

Hu Li immediately uttered "Oh," hugged her tail and swept one last round into the hall; after finishing the firepower suppression, she turned and leaped through the door.

Yu Sheng was also ready to step through the door with Erin.

But just then, a plastic figure that had previously hidden from Hu Li's shooting dead angle suddenly climbed up again—it was deformed and twisted from the Fox Fire's scorching, and its face was grotesquely contorted by the intense heat as if it had grown angry, dragging its deformed limbs and lunging forward to grab Yu Sheng's ankle.

The force was so strong it was like a hydraulic clamp.

Ignoring everything else, Yu Sheng exerted his strength to drag the twisted plastic dummy across the threshold, and he severed the passageway before it could follow him through.

The plastic dummy's arm was instantly cut off by the door.

All was quiet around them, the swarm of security guards who had emerged crazily, the explosions of the Fox Radish Missiles, the collapsing, burning hall all seemed like distant illusions.

But Yu Sheng was gradually getting used to it: passing through "the door" always brought a sense of unreal abrupt change to the environment, not for the first or second time.

He looked up and saw a spacious corridor on both sides, with conventional collection cases lined up along, and Little Red Riding Hood alertly observing the surroundings; the shadows of seven or eight wolves lingered in the air, pacing and emerging around her; Hu Li held a Fox Tail in each hand, vigilantly watching the movement at the end of the corridor, striking a pose similar to wielding dual Barrett Rifles.

The "security guards" hadn't followed, and no new entities had formed in the air around them—as Little Red Riding Hood had said, as long as they could escape the view of all the guards at the same time, the Museum's "chase" would temporarily cease.

"This is the hallway we've been through before," Little Red Riding Hood broke the silence. "I thought you'd just open the door and leave the Museum."

"That would've made tonight a complete waste of time—and the blockers and inducers you used before you came would have been wasted too. From what you've said, those seemed pretty expensive," Yu Sheng sighed. "And don't you find it strange? Why would those security guards suddenly attack people? This isn't the same as the intelligence you had previously; there must be something going wrong in this Museum—it really isn't reassuring to not investigate..."

"Normally, the most cautious option is to evacuate as soon as possible upon discovering unexplained changes in the Exotic Realm," Little Red Riding Hood glanced at Yu Sheng but then softened her tone, "But you're right, that would've been... a pointless trip. With controllable risks, continuing to investigate the changes in the Exotic Realm can sometimes yield significant gains."

"Right, if the situation truly turns dire, let's head out from here." Yu Sheng nodded, his gaze then landing on Hu Li.

The demon fox girl gave him a smug smile, clearly very satisfied with her own performance in the sky-blue exhibition hall just before.

"…You made quite a show of your abilities, not bad," Yu Sheng couldn't help but praise, but still couldn't resist teasing her, "But that skill of yours… why does it suddenly have a name? Who named it?"

"Erin," Hu Li cheerfully admitted, betraying her friend without hesitation, "I described the various uses of my tails to her, and she came up with lots of names for me! I've got another one in development, called Fox Radish Charge…"

Yu Sheng didn't wait for her to finish and turned to look at Erin sitting on his shoulder: "I knew it had to be nobody else—what kind of lousy names are these?"

"I put a lot of thought into them, how can you call them lousy!" Erin, who a second ago seemed tired from her consecutive uses of her abilities, now immediately bristled, hands on her hips in indignation, "Look at her tails, don't they fit the image? I even included a witty pun…"

Then she muttered to herself, "Actually, at first I considered if I should call that continuous Fox Fire technique 'Fox Radish biu' with the silly fox… but then decided it wasn't formal enough…"

Veins throbbed on Yu Sheng's forehead.

But he quickly consoled himself: At least it wasn't called 'Fox Tail's biu'…

Little Red Riding Hood stood quietly to one side, watching this bizarre scene unfold, listening to Yu Sheng's interaction with the puppet and the demon fox.

…Weird, absurd, and outrageous, yet it seemed to follow its own logic.

It was completely out of place with the surrounding environment.

Not at all like a Spirit Realm Detective carrying out operations in the Exotic Realm, but neither were they ignorant and carefree beginners just messing around; on the contrary… she could tell they were serious.

Yu Sheng was serious, the puppet arguing about whether "Fox Radish" was a clever pun was serious, and even the clueless demon fox was serious; they took the place and the things they did here very seriously, along with the situations they faced—only... in a way no normal person would think or behave.

From the perspective of "normal humans," it was hard for Little Red Riding Hood to comprehend the atmosphere and actions of the Travel Inn Trio; it was also hard to say whether their spirit was "right or wrong."

She just exhaled softly and sat down on a wolf's back, slowly recovering her strength.

Truly the strangest experience of her life… Encountering such an interesting bunch of "people" before she reached adulthood wasn't so bad after all.
