Chapter 97: The White Exhibition Hall Surrounded

Yu Sheng didn't know whether it was an illusion or not, but he felt that Little Red Riding Hood had been a bit nervous since a while ago.

He thought that maybe, just maybe, it kind of, sort of had something to do with him...

But luckily, he had thick skin and a broad mind (the latter mainly developed in partnership with Erin), so he quickly stood up and focused his attention on the upcoming action.

He could now feel that those security guards were static in various areas of the museum, and some were being slowly "dissolved" in the air. It seemed that as the "invader" disappeared from all the security guards' sight, the museum's "clearance" mechanism also stopped, and those temporarily generated plastic dummies acting as cleaners began to be gradually reclaimed.

However, this recycling process was slow. If they waited until all the plastic dummies disappeared before acting, they might miss the museum's opening hours.

Yu Sheng still remembered Little Red Riding Hood's reminder that the museum was a time-limited Exotic Realm, only open during the nighttime performances.

"Continue with the operation. We go in this direction," Yu Sheng seriously perceived his surroundings and raised his hand to point towards a door deep down the corridor, "There's no 'Security Guard' behind this door."

"Okay." Little Red Riding Hood, without any fuss, immediately commanded the Wolf Pack to follow Yu Sheng, who was the only one now certain of the safe route.

The next exhibition hall had a warm, bright orange light, with a huge mountain and river sculpture displayed in the center. Bright and pleasant landscape paintings hung on the walls, all collections unnamed, with the creators marked as "Anonymous."

There were no plastic dummies here, and they didn't encounter any "Security Guards" on the path that Yu Sheng had pointed out.

Little Red Riding Hood found this very strange—she had never thought that she could move through an "activated" museum like this. According to the Special Service Bureau's evaluation criteria, the danger level of the museum after generating "Security Guards" was close to level three, necessitating fully armed elite troops to take over. Yet now, she was leading her Wolf Pack through the gradually malevolent museum, swiftly passing through exhibition halls and intersections, those "Entity-Security Guards"...

It's as if they didn't exist at all.

Only when Yu Sheng occasionally lowered his voice to warn at certain intersections could she reconfirm that the deadly threats were still lurking around.

They then passed through many corridors and rooms, but they still hadn't found the white spacious exhibition hall mentioned in the intelligence.

Yu Sheng suddenly stopped, frowning heavily.

"What's wrong?" Little Red Riding Hood immediately tensed up and asked with a solemn face.

"We still haven't found that exhibition hall," Yu Sheng said gravely.

"Maybe it's further inside?" Erin, who was by now back on Yu Sheng's shoulder—when moving outside, this little puppet was too lazy to walk any distance—suggested, "Didn't they say that the structure inside this museum is randomly generated?"

"What I mean is, we've explored all the places that don't have 'Security Guards' blocking the way," Yu Sheng said with a serious expression, "The remaining passages are all controlled by those plastic dummies."

Erin opened her mouth, struggling for a moment before bursting out with an expletive.

"So, it's the worst-case scenario—the white exhibition hall is really surrounded by those 'Security Guards,'" Little Red Riding Hood's face also flashed a moment of displeasure, but at least those who went to school are different from prenatal education; she didn't swear out loud, "Really, why did they have to generate them there?"

Yu Sheng was silent for two seconds, then spoke with a hint of speculation, "Or maybe, those plastic people were simply generated inside the white exhibition hall,"

As he spoke, he raised his hand and pointed towards a certain door.

"If we leave in this direction, it's the center surrounded by those plastic people, with seven or eight entities distributed in the same space. And I've noticed something else—the 'Security Guards' in other areas are slowly disappearing over time, as if reclaimed by the museum. But only those few here do not show any sign of 'reclamation.' I suspect that is the white exhibition hall we are looking for, and something must have happened there, resulting in the generation of entities, and this 'stimulus' is most likely still there."

Little Red Riding Hood, Erin, and Hu Li looked at each other in consternation.

Yu Sheng's intelligence and analysis sounded reasonable, but it didn't seem like good news.

"What should we do? Retreat or go take a look?" Erin was the first to break the silence, "Anyway, this stuff is pretty creepy, retreating now would be normal, but if we really left like this, not to mention the wasted effort from this trip, there would also be a feeling of being beaten for nothing... from the previous escape."

Little Red Riding Hood thought for a moment but then turned her gaze to Yu Sheng.

"You decide," she said.

Yu Sheng was startled: "Are you sure you want me, a beginner, to make the decision? Newbies know nothing and tend to be rash."

"You now possess the ability to leave this Exotic Realm, and you're the only one who can ensure a safe route, regardless of whether you're a Beginner or not."

Yu Sheng's expression turned serious. After a long period of careful consideration, he finally exhaled and turned towards the door.

"First, let's get close and observe the situation. Without alerting those entities, we'll try to glimpse what exactly happened in the white exhibit hall. If we can ascertain the situation, that would be best. If not, we'll withdraw," Yu Sheng announced his decision and immediately confirmed with Little Red Riding Hood, "Those 'Security Guards' only act when they 'see' us, right? Does mere proximity alert them?"

"Only when they 'see' us," Little Red Riding Hood immediately replied, "Previous investigators have confirmed that the 'Security Guards' in the Museum rely solely on vision, lacking both hearing and smell, and their vision is approximately a 120-degree arc in front of their heads—so, strictly speaking, these dangerous 'guards' actually have very limited perception abilities. On the other hand, as long as you are within their 120-degree field of vision, they will not be distracted or overlook any invader, and considering most exhibit halls in the museum are rather spacious, just a few 'Security Guards' standing at certain angles can cover the entire room without leaving any 'safe corners' for hiding."

Listening to Little Red Riding Hood's explanation, Yu Sheng nodded thoughtfully, then led his team away from that exhibit hall and cautiously approached the spot he perceived as "not quite right."

The group quickly passed through another "repeating corridor" that was almost identical to the previous ones they had seen and saw an exit at the end of the corridor.

When they were still some distance from the exit, Yu Sheng stopped.

"It's a white room."

Erin, with her sharp eyes, immediately glimpsed some of the scenery across from the slightly ajar door.

But Yu Sheng truly sensed the presence of the "Security Guards" at the end of the corridor, and even saw a short piece of dark blue security uniform peeking out from the edge of the door.

The situation was as he had expected; the "entities" were originating from the white exhibit hall, and to this moment, there were no signs of diminishing activity from the entities in that hall.

Little Red Riding Hood suddenly frowned and her nose twitched lightly.

"Blood," she said softly, her expression growing particularly serious.

"I smell it too," Hu Li nodded in agreement, "It's very fresh."

Blood, corpses, the scent of death—

There was the smell of fresh blood emanating from the white exhibit hall, and the "entity-Security Guards" guarding the Museum originated from it.

Without a doubt, something had happened.

But from this angle, it was still unclear what exactly was happening inside the hall. Moving forward might alarm the entities guarding inside.

"If only I knew, I should have borrowed Dorothy's drone," Little Red Riding Hood suddenly muttered, "Who knew we'd encounter this kind of situation..."

Hearing this, Yu Sheng couldn't help but feel curious about Little Red Riding Hood's backing organization, the Fairy Tale Organization, and the other Fairy Tale members—he had indeed found some intelligence related to this organization on Border Communication, but he only knew that the members of this organization each used a classic role from a Fairy Tale as their code name, and nothing more.

But considering the Wolf Pack led by Little Red Riding Hood... perhaps each member of the Fairy Tale Organization possessed abilities related to their own "code name"? And what was Dorothy's connection to "drones"?

"Could you tell me about your companions when you get a chance?" Yu Sheng asked curiously, "I'm quite intrigued by your 'Fairy Tale' organization."

"Too much curiosity is not a good thing," Little Red Riding Hood seemed uninterested in the topic, but didn't outright reject it, "Maybe, if they don't mind, I can introduce you to them, it wouldn't be impossible. As for now—we need to decide what to do next. We definitely can't proceed further."

Yu Sheng stroked his chin, pondering, "You just mentioned drones... don't those 'Security Guards' react to drones?"

"They only react to the actual 'invader'," Little Red Riding Hood nodded, "After all, entities that can be mass-produced like this have no real cognitive ability; their limited perception combined with a strict adherence to rules is precisely what leaves us with many opportunities to act."

"What about your Wolf Pack?" Yu Sheng asked again, "Can you send your wolves to check out the situation?"

Little Red Riding Hood hesitated for a moment and shook her head.

"No."

"Why?"

"Because in a certain sense, my wolves... are me."
