Classmancers - A MOBA Esport Story

Vol.21 Ch.22: Anticipating an Invade

"Okay, we're done here!" Nash declared so after the last wraith collapsed. He and Rio made quick work of these ghostly suckers. Ez game. "Well, it was nice knowing you. I'll be on my way to the griffins now."

"Wait," Rio called out. "Are you sure you don't want to start with the hyenas first?"

"Nah, man." Nash shook his head. "I'm playing Wolf, I can handle them griffins. Better take them out before the DK gets his hands on them."

"That DK is exactly what I'm worried about," Rio said. "He knows he's uncontested in the early-game, so he might go straight after YOUR griffin."

"Dang, you think he will?" Nash blinked. "That'd be hella bold, but I can see it happening. Early-game DK is a monster, plain and simple."

"Yeah," Jaiden agreed. "And, he strikes me like the type of guy who'd go for it."

"True, bro is wild." Nash nodded. "So, what are you suggesting then? Are you saying I should give up my griffin because it's 'dangerous'? Hell naw."

"Better safe than sorry," Rio said.

"Well," Jaiden started. "If he's coming alone, we can ambush him there together!"

Rio raised an eyebrow. "Are you suggesting we leave both lanes unattended? It's not even guaranteed that the DK will show up. It's just a possibility."

"Yeaaaah, I get the skepticism, I really do," Jaiden said. "But hey, this is a 3v3. You guys are already Lv. 3 because farming is just that fast in this mode. So, even if we make the wrong read here and let them get ahead, we should still be able to make a comeback in no time."

"Farming being quick goes both ways, you know," Rio pointed out. "It means they can snowball on us quickly if we let them get too much ahead."

"True," Jaiden agreed. "But hey, giving them our griffin for free also lets them get ahead, right?"

"True." Rio sighed. "Fine. So, I guess we all agree that there's a high chance of an invade?"

Nash sneered. "High? More like, the chances are through the roof, man!"

"Yeah, totally." Jaiden nodded. "It's almost guaranteed I'd say."

"I feel the same way," Rio admitted despite all his earlier skepticism. His intuition rarely failed him, and right now it was telling him that Memer would attempt a gank.

"Besides," Rio continued. "Even if we're wrong, we can still get some things done in that position. For example, we can go invade their side instead."

Nash whistled. "Whew. Somebody's being spicy here."

"It's always good to have a backup plan," Rio said matter-of-factly. "It'd be dumb to gamble on a guess like that without being sure we can gain some benefits."

"Real."

"So, are we all in agreement?" Jaiden confirmed one last time. "Then, let's do it! Go go go!"

And so, the Triangle set out as one toward the griffin. Little did they know that both of the scenarios they hypothesized were wrong…
